I am starting to hit my Amazon payout threshold every couple of months on my cat site (I have been very bad at adding content in the last 6 months though as been too busy). But

I'm in Australia. Aweber sends me cheques (pain in the *ss) and I take them to my credit union 'cos it's cheaper than the banks for converting currency. Unfortunately it's the affiliate companies who call the shots with how you get paid.

Physical checks have hardly been used here in Norway for the past 20 years, and when they turn up nowadays, the fees for cashing them in are substantial. Here everything goes electronically. (I don't even use cash anymore).

I have used PayPal, Payoneer, Skrill and PayZa and never had any trouble with any of them.

Tell me about it - it's the same here in the U.K. Bank transfers are usually so quick (often instant) and I haven't used cheques in years. Sadly US Amazon pays outside US affiliates in dollar cheques though.

Some people here are using Payoneer and don't seem to have any problem with it.
But it's not officially supported by Amazon.
Use at own risk.

What is wrong with your bank, though?
When I cash in a check from Amazon the money is on my account within a few days.
And the money they keep is still acceptable.
German bank account.

Did you set your threshold rather high?
I would do that.
Don't want to cash in $25 checks all the time.
Set it to a few hundred at least.

Bank charges are quite high plus conversion rate not the best, cant use the standard deposit slip and I don't often have time to go to the bank. My threshold is a couple of hundred already.

My bank doesn't even have any physical branch offices :)
That's one of the reasons why it's expensive to cash checks.
I can either cash them in another bank for transfer to my account (expensive) or withdraw cash (also expensive since I am not a client of that bank).

I can, of course, start an account in a bank with a branch office, but I will still have to pay fees.

So transfer directly to the bank account or prepaid MasterCard is the solution.

Yeah.
Checks are a pain in the ***.

But Amazon doesn't offer direct bank transfer for people outside the US.

I read your other answer, though.
I'm still a bit scared to use Payoneer for Amazon.
My site is rather big with over 100 posts.
If Amazon shuts me down I can trash the whole site.
Already looked for other partners but they are all crap.

Payoneer appears to be supported for certain countries and for the amazon .de marketplace.
Try searching for 'Using Payoneer with Amazon' within Amazon help sites. (I cannot link directly to the answer because of link parameters)

Thanks.
Will do.

I think it's only (officially) supported for sellers but not for affiliates.

You could ask Amazon

Oh I did ask them in the chat.

That's where I got that "not officially supported" from.

They say that we have to use what they provide.

Ah ok.
Then we are stuck with the checks.

Fun fact:
'The check is in the mail' was once voted the most often used lie in the world. Closely followed by 'I love you'.

I have paypal and I want to sign up for payoneer as well. They should be having two options have an ATM card they issue to easily withdraw your money and paying into your local account. Looks like a good deal.

I am looking for some up to date webhosting recommendations (but if I do the usual google search I mainly get affiliate sites recommending hosting they take a cut from). I want

I use dreamhost. See my recommendations of how to choose a good hosting company at http://marionblackonline.com/hosting

Hi Marion
That sounds promising - I can see that Dreamhost allows python - just trying to see if they allow full sql access so I can run my own scripts and analysis

You should know better than this Marion.

Thanks for the tip, Marion.

Knownhost has been my goto for years now. Fantastic service, fast servers, great prices & support. Stay away from anything EIG (Hostgator, Host Monster, Bluehost etc.) I have not had good experiences with EIG branded companies.

Thanks for the reply - do you use their VPS or managed service. It looks as though you don't have access to the database etc unless you take out the Vps option

I have a managed dedicated server. You would need a VPS with them to get what you want. The SSD-0 option would be more than enough and you are going to get a ton more power than any shared server for just a few more dollars per month.

Thank you for the tip...

If i understand your question .Why not use WA ?

Because I want access to the database and cPanel.

Looking at your profile, I did not note which country you are in, sooooo ... I will guess you're in the USA. Bluehost has been recommended to me as one of the best, though, I have not used them.

I'm located in Ontario, Canada and the only "other" hosting servers I have used are geographically located in Toronto.

Thanks I am UK based but would prefer US based hosting

Then Bluehost would be the one I would select being as an American blogger informed me that he found them to be the most reliable.

Trish,
May I ask who you use in Toronto?
I also live in Ontario, Canada.
thank you,
Ken

Yes you can Ken ... I use HostUpon.ca
John is an EXCELLENT techie on their staff!

Anyone know how long it takes to transfer domain names from WA? I've already copied over one of my websites to new hosting and just waiting to see how long it takes to transfer

Hi,
I am so sorry because I have not transferred domain names from WA to another place.

However, with my experience of transferring from siterubix to personal domains, it has always being a couple of hours.

Although, I did domin transfer on the old domain which automatically directs traffic to the new domain. You may use that as well.

Hope this helps.

Segun

@EvieSmith Just wondering if this worked out for you in the end?

And if so, how long did it take for the transfer to go through?

Thanks!

Keep moving the domains to new hosting completely separate from the domain name registration.

Already did this thanks as I am moving both the website and transferring the domain.

In case you get stuck, Marion Black does transfer service.

Thanks I am an ex-IT person and ethical hacker so moving a website is simple. Just wasn't sure how long the domain name transfer took

I think it can take up to 48hrs

Personally, I'd move the site(s) and then transfer the domain name. This way it won't matter when because all your files will be in place and the transfer will appear to be seamless.

Thanks. Yes I've already copied one but if I want to work on it in the next day or two I have to work on both. I don't want to go days without updating.

If two to three days without updating is too long then WOW!
