PHP Update recommended!
It's telling me that my brand new WordPress site is running an insecure version of PHP (7.3.9), and should be updated.

The minimum recommended

It seems that you have some GREAT answers, here, Deborah! Site Support is the best here!

Jeff

I would reach out to site support

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/support

If a PHP update is required, site support will update or probably move your websites to new servers.

Resource
.

if it is causing a problem with plugins then open a support ticket...
they are going through and updating all the sites here to php 7.4 - but it is a slow process when checking each site is still working...

Hey feigner,

Thanks for responding! I can't say it's causing a problem but of course, I don't want it to either! I haven't even sent my first post, or my privacy policy page, these were my next steps. I am ready to send my first post but I was unsure of what to do since that warning has been up there since day one. I just hadn't had to deal with it yet and now I figure I do since it is time to send my first post etc.

i wouldn't worry too much about it Deborah...
i have a few sites with it on and it is not causing a problem...
it is only wordpress saying it may cause a problem...
as i said you can open a ticket for support, but they are gonig though and updating everyone...

Got it!

Thank you feigner, I feel better! You know, when you don't know, you don't know! :)

it is always better to ask...
but i would go ahead and start adding content to your site...
the upgrade of php will not affect the content...
have fun

It will be taken care of for you. You can leave a message with Site Support if you want, also.

Thanks for responding Siobhan!

Oh, that's great, I will leave them a message thanks. Do you think I should just wait on them before I send my very first post, and also my privacy policy page? That's where I am at with my WordPress site. Also, I will be following you, please feel free to reciprocate. :)

Thank you, much appreciated!

No, you don't have to wait. You can go ahead and work on your site as much as you want, it'll be fine.

I had thought I would change my free domain name when I switched to .com. I am premium, if I choose to, can I keep my free domain name and still change it to .com?

The free domain is actually a sub-domain of Site Rubix and is available if no other WA member has claimed it. The corresponding dot com domain name will only be available if no one else in the entire world has claimed it.

So the answer to your question is... maybe. But you'll have to check to find out.

You can use the move feature found within your site manager to move your siterubix subdomain to your dot com, when you are ready. It is a simple process.

You would need to wait up to 30 days (Kyle's recommendation) for 301 redirects to be completed and for the search engines. After of which you MAY delete the subdomain however you could keep it for longer if hosting space is not an issue or for testing purposes such as themes, plugins, scripts, coding etc

You can check Kyles training tutorial below

You may start with a siterubix subdomain around a focused niche and build up content and until you are satisfied with your niche and name, down the line have your own dot com, as some affiliate programs do not work with a subdomain. Cost of which is $15 yearly each privacy included. You can then move your siterubix to your dot com applying the move feature found within the site manager which is an easy process.

Also please be aware that your desired dot com domain name may not be necessarily available at time of purchase.

Another reason is that if you made a mistake on a dot com domain, you won't be able to edit the URL, you'd have to purchase a new one.

No.

You have to buy your premium dot com domain and maintain yearly fees.

Even when you are a premium.

You can keep the siterubix subdomain, however it remains the property of WA.

You can indeed move it to your dot com applying the move feature found within your site manager.

Hi Deborah, if you move your website from your free sub-domain to a .com domain, there'll be nothing to access on your free one.

I use my subdomain for a testing site to try different plugins or anything else you may want to experiment with before you add it to your business site.

So I would use your free site as your "sandbox", lol.

Hope this helps!
Suzanne

Thank you, Suzanne, I never thought about that, good to know! :)

you're very welcome!
