I have extra tags for my website athomewithtaidotcom in GA. What did I do wrong and how do I fix it?

Tai

I guess I need to clarify. It's not tags. It's the ID's.

Has this been resolved yet?

No Abie…I got pulled into something else. Would you be so kind to try to assist?

-Mike

You have an issue?

Not me… Taianne was (see her question above).

-Mike

Are they in WordPress as well?

Getting Started

I started a new website several months ago to narrow my niche on my older website. I have taken several posts from my older website and copied them to my new website with red

Hey Tai,

I wouldn't overly worry about the order of blog posts if you're using a blog roll.

In truth, the only person it's "annoying" is YOU, am I right? Hahahaha!!

As you know, the vast majority of people will find your INDIVIDUAL posts by clicking on a result in the search engines.

Therefore, they may never actually get to see the "real" order that your posts were publsihed in.

The two main ways are to use the "Post Types Order" plugin (yup, ANOTHER plugin) or to use code to change the order.

Syed covers both points in this blog post, as well as a few other ways.

https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/reorder-wordpress-posts-using-drag-drop/

BUT

As I say, it won't really make any difference to the MOST IMPORTANT PEOPLE, i.e. your visitors.

I'm guessing it's simply stressing you out because YOU don't like the order.

Don't sweat it, in the grand scheme of things the order in which blog posts are published and displayed MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE.

The main aim is get them ranked and to get traffic to them.

Partha

Hey Partha,
Thank you so much for responding.

The Truth? Yes, it was bothering me because now I want to write content like you would when first starting a website.

An article about the basics of my niche. I just thought it would look better that way. (I hope you are understanding what I am trying to say:) )

I will TRY to not let it bother me:) and just continue. I believe I got my motivation back and want to focus on the second website.

Tai

GOOD!!!

If the motivation is back, DO NOT LET THE LITTLE INSIGNIFICANT THINGS BOTHER YOU.

That is what sucks the motivation out of you.

You got this!!

Just write write, write and write.

You'll eventually get to the stage (if you simply write) where you'll eventually think, "Why did I let all those little things bother me?"

Partha

GOATfully great insights here🐐

The program I was in many years ago promoted "Link Post Blogging" I am not going to name any names.
You would go to, for instance:" Classifieds for free" and place an ad (f

Well, if you don’t try, it most certainly won’t work!

Let us know how it goes. Best of luck!

Darlene

The only way to get a true answer to that is to test it

Hi Catherine,
Thank you for your response.

I just kinda feel like it is cheating to get traffic. Several years ago, when I was an affiliate for CBD, I used this method. I did get several visits but no sales. I thought with Christmas just around the corner I am an affiliate for Cratejoy and have an article on my site regarding subscription boxes I thought this might be a way to get "it" out there.

Tai

Agreed, Catherine!

Jeff

Try it and let us know

As everything there's plusses and minuses, are they targeted? Will they invite spam?

I'd say test it and see how it goes.

I have preference for paid ads.

Hi Abie,
Thank You for your reply. I can't afford paid ads at this time.

I hope that they do not invite spam. Of course, that is the last thing I want.
Not sure what you mean by "targeted"

Tai

Exactly what you mentioned in your other comment, visits but no sales, meaning the traffic is not targeted. And no worries Tai, you are most welcome!

Can I update my site without backing it up since site support backs up our sites?
Tai

I have a lot of sites and have never bothered backing any of them up prior to a WordPress update. I've never had an issue. And, as you say, there's the WA backup to fall back on in an emergency.

I do, however, use All in One WP Migration to back up my sites after major work of my own.

Can you be sure of that Phil?

What I'm sure of is that I've done literally hundreds of WP upgrades without any problems and that WA does a daily backup that you could fall back on in an emergency.

Other than that, no.

i think I probably used to say the same thing until I lost a website in an update. I cant comment on whether WA has backups as I don't host here, but experience has taught me and Andre below not to rely on it

My other host is SiteGround and they do daily backups as well.

If I had a host that didn't (I'd switch to someone else as it should be a standard facility) I would probably feel the same.

I prefer to take control of my own business and to rely on someone else

That's why I always do my own backup after changes I make to the site. While a server side backup is reliable and a restore is fast, I don't have control over the timing, so that's when I use my own.

We all have to make our own decisions for this sort of thing.

I never back it up either but you should just to be on the safe side. Mind you I think that is because the guys at Wealthy Affiliate could back your site up in a heartbeat.

Mick

Hi Mick
Thanks for responding. Much appreciated

You can. That's what I do, Tai! There could be risks though, something I constantly remind myself of too!

Jeff

Hi Jeff, I just hesitate on backing up. Afraid I will do it wrong
Tai

Same here, Tai!

Jeff

Sure you can, nothing to stop you. However, if you lose your site it may be that WA has got an older copy. You should back up your site manually every month and keep the latest copy on your hard drive. You will get lots of members saying this isnt necessary and in ytuth only people who have lost their site will say it is

Hi Catherine, as I responded to Jeff, I hesitate due to worrying about doing it wrong
Tai

Awesome Tia, you have done too much work to lose it. I speak from experience of losing whole websites

Site support does backup your wordpress site but it is highly recommended that you do too. Backup plugin is Allinone migration

Hi George, thank you so much for responding. Much appreciated
