Dark days are coming

It's tough building a website without any rewards right?

If you are like me you will be in for a few dark days down the line. I'm sure we've all read the success stories and if you really want this you will know that you need to keep going through the tough times.

Be patient

I have continued to keep adding posts. If you read some of the blogs from successful members on here you will notice how they are always promoting content as King.

I'll be honest with you, I haven't bothered too much with social media. Each to their own, if it works for you then that's great. What I have done is write like a madman. I have 72 posts now.

My patience is starting to pay off. This month I can see things picking up with respect to traffic and earnings.

In the last 3 days I have 3 new IPTV subscribers which equates to $18 / mo extra. I'm really pleased. I'm fairly certain it's due to the traffic I am receiving from some of my posts which are on page 1.

They are on page 1 because I have continued to build my site. As you should.

Traffic

I want to share with you my traffic in Month 5 since I started my website.

You can see how the graph goes up with time. First couple of months was virtually zero traffic even though I had published around 25 posts.

Content

It can and will happen if you follow the training. I'm not saying it will happen overnight but if you can build trust with your readers and focus on helping them while at the same time writing fresh quality content, I can't see how you can fail.

What I noticed is how my ranks start to improve for new posts. At the beginning I would publish an article and it would rank on page 4 or 5, even for low hanging fruit.

Now when I publish an article it usually lands on page 2 and some even land on page 1. This is without any engagement at all. It's all about content.

Focus on your business and forget earning

That's the best advice I received here. Forget about earning money for the first few months. Kyle was spot on when he said we can earn usually around the 3 month mark, but this obviously doesn't apply to everyone.

Focus on adding content. Don't look at your affiliate earnings (unless you're promoting WA then I think it's kinda hard not to).

I check my accounts once a month usually. I couldn't avoid checking my IPTV subscriptions last few days as I had to access my account for something else. That was a pleasant surprise.

Finally, a word about WA rank

In my opinion, the rank means very little here, in the grand scheme of things. My rank did go up to 82 I think but it's started going down as I spend less time here and more time on my website.

I think you can find a good balance and if you promote WA I think it's quite important to have a good name/rank here. That would probably impress potential customers. I'm not promoting WA (yet) so I'm not really concerned.

I've seen people on here who claim to be earning $$$$$ and their rank is low. Why? Well, they're probably busy adding content.

I hope you can take some encouragement from this.

Cheers, Craig

I found that my traffic has fluctuated in the last nearly 12 months from creating my first website Craig, but otherwise you are so right. The more content you add, the more traffic it will attract, which in turn will push your posts to page 1 more quickly, will make your website more authoritative and attract sales. Simple as that!! But, the secret is to concentrate on your writing and not on making money.

Giulia

Hi Giulia, thanks for your input. I think it probably will fluctuate but I would've thought it was on an upward slope.

You're exactly right, I need to focus on continuously adding content which I've really done over the last month. I have tried some new things recently which include a free traffic exchange and tried PPC for the first time.

My PPC campaign was a bust as I didn't get any conversions though it did bring in a lot of traffic. The thing that is concerning though is that the bounce rate has really gone up and page session duration is going down so maybe I should just for the time being focus on creating content still and keep the steady organic traffic I was getting before I tried all of this.

Hi Brian, I also tried a PPC campaign and had 1 measly sale. It cost me more to run the campaign but at least my site got some coverage. Same as your one would have. I think the best thing to do is just keep adding content and not worry too much about rankings, that will happen automatically. It's important to keep site comments going too, which all helps. Cheers.

I definitely agree with that. I have not been getting organic comments for a long time now, but I have been adding content on a consistent basis and I continuously request comments here on WA on the comments section too. Those are 2 things I know that if I continue, eventually better and hopefully bigger things will happen.

Definitely Brian. Good luck.

Good advice, Craig! Your website is where you make your money.
