What's happening to my site?

My visitors are dropping like flies. Now, on the one hand, I paid for a bit of traffic when it was trending up. Also, I had a Pinterest post go a little viral. But now it's like all my visitors are drying up.

It's just *slightly* frustrating. (Grumble, grumble.)

Has this happened to any of you? Am I doing something wrong? It's really demotivating, to be honest.

Many of us are saying, "Lord, Please, give me numbers like this to worry about just once!"
Others are smiling, "Lord, thank You for WA, because I learned to achieve numbers like this!
Thanks, Christina, for a look at the future!
Janice

Aw, you're sweet and you made me feel better about it. :) It's all perspective, right?

- Christina

Thank you again!

Yes, it has happened to me. It could be a combination of factors and it will just go back up again. Try not to worry too much about it. I had a ton of traffic when someone happened to share my posts on social media a few times. That bumped up my numbers but then they crashed back down. I got high numbers early on due to spam bots too. Luckily I don't seem to be getting those now. There are many reasons. Just keep going!! it will get better.

Of course, go to Analytics or wherever and make sure your posts are still indexed. Just to be sure.

Thanks Jessica! I think what happened to you is what happened to me. I had a post on Pinterest that got a lot of shares and that helped. But now it's died off, so my traffic has as well.

I appreciate your insight!

I don't know much because I still consider myself a newbie (November 2017), but from what I've learned so far it's all about content. Content, content, content. If you keep providing relevant content, I think that's what it's all about. Hope that helps.

I'm trying! Just gotta keep going, right?

- Christina

Yeah, well, I found myself getting stuck, but I'm thinking that if you have a subject you really want to talk about, it's the best way to create content. I'm not great technically, but I can recognize good content. I can help, if you like. That's up to you, of course.

Of course! I'll take all the help I can get! :)

Is it okay if I go to your website? I don't know if you're supposed to post URLs on here. Unless it's maybe a private message?

Of course! Have at it! My website is posted on my bio page, but I can PM you as well.

What I am about to say is easier said than done....but focus on the visitors you do have to your site, be thankful and give them value, rather than focusing on dropping numbers.
Although I completely understand your frustration, I know it will get better for you soon.

That's a great point, Claire! The other good thing is that while my visitors have dropped a lot, my bounce rate has decreased and my session time has gone way up. So, the visitors seem to be more engaged.

- Christina

That's great to hear, there's always a positive!! I'll need to remember this lesson myself as my site develops and visitors go up and down.....take care.
Claire

Sometimes the dynamics can take that shape but hopefully it's temporary. Focus on what you need to focus - content. And it should take the right turn again.

Hopefully! Eek!

It´s up and down periods in this job. But never pay for traffic! Keep going with adding content.

Good luck.

Thanks for the advice! I've stopped my ads as they didn't get me very far. :)

Whose did you purchase the traffics from? If the traffics is from bots, Google will punish you for it.

You need to find out if this is the problem by looking at the source of traffics in analytic. If you have traffic sources from app or unknown ip address, then you got hit by bots.

This is the major problem with purchasing traffic from unknown sources.

I purchased an ad from Facebook which gave me some traffic. Although, most of my traffic came from a Pinterest post.

Fight for traffic is a constant process. Nothing ever lasts forever. So the only advice is to keep going in your fight. :)

Yes, I'm sure you're right. In fact, I keep saying to myself..."just stay away from analytics for now. Keep writing and stop worrying about it." It's hard to take my own advice though! lol
