My Top 5 Blogging Success Tips After Almost 10-Years of Full-Time Blogging

Here are my top 5 blogging success tips after almost 10-years of doing this full-time. It was hard to whittle my list down to just five things, but here they are in no particular order.

1. Outsource as much as possible as soon as possible, even when you don't think you can afford it.

You can't do everything yourself. Stop trying. Do not spend your $100 per hour time on $10 per hour tasks. Work smart and delegate. My blog stayed small longer than it should have because I tried to do everything myself, when I should have hired people to help me.

2. Think like a business owner, not a writer.

Think like a CEO, not an employee. Your most important job is MARKETING and PROMOTING your content, driving traffic, generating leads, and making sales, NOT just creating new pages. Read the book "The E-Myth Revisited". If you do that, you will thank me later.

3. Build an email list starting day 1.

Make the primary purpose of your blog to get people on your email list. Communicate with your list at least three times per week and always provide a ton of value. Your list will be worth much more money than your website. Almost 90% of my income comes from email marketing. I just use my content to build my list.

4. Have a daily mode of operations.

This should be a WRITTEN daily checklist with what needs to be done each day of the week to grow your website. That way you can sit down at your computer, work smart, and get a lot done in as little time as possible. Never sit down to work without knowing EXACTLY what three or four things you are going to accomplish.

5. Set daily, weekly, monthly, yearly and 5-year goals for your blog.

Put your goals in writing. Set your big goals first and then plan backwards, so you can break everything down into bite-sized chunks. As you reach your goals, cross them off your list and set a new goal. Celebrate each success. Setting goals is one of the primary reasons I have become successful in life. Without goals, you are just a drifter!

Final Thoughts

There you have it folks. These are my top 5 blogging tips after almost 10-years of full-time blogging. I hope you found the information helpful.

Which tip is your favorite and why? What tips should I have included, but didn't? Leave a comment below to share your thoughts. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hey Chuck that was a nice one. You caught my attention in all your 5 tips BUT made me go looking for the book I bought last year "The E Myth Reversed" in the fifth tip just to confirm I still have it! Thanks for that TIMELY reminder of thinking like CEO and not an employee and to focus on new sales and not just creating new pages! That was great.
Cheers.

Great tips. I figured since I don't have a ton of traffic yet I don't need to create a list. I guess I was wrong.

Thanks for sharing -- very helpful.

I really took a bit of more time to digest this post, as it is full of energy.
Entire post is great, but 2nd suggestion is outstanding, as it requires fastest implementation.
Maybe you should also tell which platform is good to hire writers? Given our average budget🙂
OMG, I'm giving all my time in writing content!!
Thanks a lot for sharing this post.
