He folks, I recently had a brief conversation with a guy regarding why you should avoid keyword stuffing and employ good SEO instead and he brought up "using synonyms" in the c

Hey Christian

If you're writing content as taught here at WA you'll naturally include synonyms without having to give it much thought. If I had a website about sneakers, I would naturally mention things like tennis shoes, nike, laces, etc.

So there isn't much to think about in terms of synonyms. If you've picked a topic you know about, you'll do this naturally.

Thanks, Eddy. That's kind of what I was thinking as well. It's something that should come naturally and should get ranked on the synonym as long as the article is well written.

Yup. I'll share my process with you. Before I write any article which are usually reviews and easy to write. I just do some keyword research. I try to identify 3 main keywords that will be the focal point of my article. So usually for me it's Product Name, Product Name Review, Product Name Scam. But I also note some of the other keywords related to product name that people may be searching for. I try to incorporate them as I write. But I don't over think so it makes it hard for me to write. So if I noticed that a lot of people mentioned product name complaints. Then I'll probably slip that word in my content as I write if it makes sense. But again the key is not to overthink it. When I was a newbie I would over think the usage of keywords. But I don't anymore and I still usually rank for variations or synonyms I never consciously thought of. So keep that in mind.

I say look up the traffic for the synonyms and use those that bring traffic. John

Hey TJ, I'm not sure what you mean by this, but maybe I was not clear on my question.

Let's say I do a search for "SEO Expert". On page one of the results, less than half of the pages returned have the term "SEO Expert". But there are sysnonyms, like "SEO Specialist", "SEO Consultant", etc... In fact the very top result does not have "expert" anywhere in the article. It does have "expertise" twice. The number one result is about hiring an "SEO Consultant". So the page was returned via synonym ranking. I'm just trying to understand how that works better, and I think Eddy (with a Y) had a good answer.

It seems that some of my replies to comments are magically duplicating.

I also have seen some glitches in the comment admin where a comment will show up twice. It seems

Hi Christian,

I would start with removing those plugins askimet & si captcha and replace them by wp-spamshield or anti-spam from webvitaly (I prefer the last one, it does not affect your site performance that much and does not need maintenance)?
They do the 2 jobs in 1 plugin...

I would start with that and see if your problem is solved then, if not, we search further...

Grtz,
Bert

Thanks, Bert. I'll get on that this afternoon.

Bert, I removed the two and installed Webvitaly Anti-Spam as you suggested. So far I have not had an issue. If it resurfaces, I'll report back. Thanks for the tip.

Your welcome and indeed when it reappears just ring the bell...

Grtz,
Bert

I would love to hear the feedback you get for this. Every time I post, a comment immediately shows up and it is actually a snippet from what I just posted!

That may be due to a backlink feature of WP that you can turn off, Veronica. You're probably getting a pingback comment because you have put an internal link on your page. There is a way to turn that off through the admin but the procedure is escaping me right now.

Gotcha, thanks Christian.

I'm specifically talking about the Affiliate Bootcamp here. I'm looking for products and services to review (and there is certainly no shortage of them)

I have the list

I have reviewed Zanox, TradeDoubler, TradeTracker

The question you posed is a good question, one that will help me and others, I'm sure!

Hello,

You have programs such as Clickbank or Amazon which are really popular. However, you can also Google the type of product you want to promote depending of your niche and suscribe to their affiliate programs.

Hope that it helps.

My blog post might help you:

Thanks Steph. I'm actually doing the opposite right now. I'm actually searching for sites to give poor reviews to. I know that sounds odd but it's part of a strategy I'm working on.

Great blog post with great information, though!

Okay....You should not have any problem finding scams out....there are so many. Have you checked out the following scams:

1. Coffee Shop Millionaire
2. Excel Cash Flow
3. Wake Me Up

A redirect in the sense of Kyle's Training is not sending you somewhere other than wealthy affiliate. What it is doing is tidying up the link. Instead of having a really long link which looks like an affiliate link showing on your blog you have a link says click here for more information, this does not send them to a place other than the place you are directing to them to so you are not trying to
confuse Google

You are very welcome Christian

That makes sense. Thanks for the reply.

Hi Christian, I just clicked on your site and it took me to WA sign-up page. Is that where you wanted it go?

Yes, that's where I want it to go but that's not the question. The question is will using a redirect like that hurt SEO?

I've been tweaking the comments posted to my site a bit. I have not changed the wording or message intended by the author, but I have fixed grammatical and spelling mistakes. I

I din't know that was done, but thank you for the information for the future

Does everybody always agree with Marion? I think I do.

Some people don't agree with doing this, but I agree with Marion. :)

You're doing exactly what I do. As long as you maintain the commenter's intent they should not be offended.

Yes, I think that's great. Go for it, Christian.
