Hello!

I was wondering if it's considered "bad form" to promote products from multiple vendors on your site?

Okay great, I'll check the ToS before signing up. Thank you. :)

It's not bad form, but it can be against the terms of certain affiliate programs. Make sure that you read the terms of each program before doing so.

You should always read the T&Cs; of everything you sign up to, most affiliate programs allow you to promote other programs but a few demand exclusivity.

Thank you!

Hello!

I have both of these plug-ins installed. Do I need both, or can I use one? If I can use just one, then which should I use?

I'm trying to remove unneeded plu

Awesome, WP Spamshield it is.

Thank you all for your input!

I use WordPress Antispam and nothing gets through it.

You don't need a captcha. Antispam Bee is enough.

Yep, drop them, use WP Spamshield.

I dropped both of those and simply have WP SpamShield It works great - zero spam

Hello!

I was clearing out my spam folder and I noticed some comments which looked legit were flagged for using a "CSS Hack," while one was marked for using a fake ip. I c

I haven't looked in my spam folder. Should I?

No.

I wouldn't bother.

The only one of those comments that is legit is the one from Tina - but it's been marked as Spam as it's a very generic comment full of platitudes but no specific details. It's the type that you often see in Spam comments.

But this time it's from a fellow WA member has given you.

The others are all obvious Spam - the email addresses & content give it away.

Thanks IMc,

I took approved Tina's comment and replied to it.

I looked at the emails like you mentioned, and yeah...what normal person would have have an addy like: yxkw1i313401dmxw93x@gmail[dot]com? Lol.

I just finished purging my spam folder.

Thank you for your help!

I have found the odd one that looks legit, but for all the spam they do block, I rarely even bother checking the spam folder.

I rarely check my spam folder too. I had comments dating back from May 2015. XD

I approved one comment and dumped the rest.

Thank you for replying to my question!

My pleasure :-)

I’ve approved a few of my spam comments that to me look legit. Based on the image you gave, I think the only legit is the one from Tina. The one from Cedric is totally spam. I got that as well with a different name but same comment.

Hey Juneyo,

I approved Tina's comment, and deleted everything else. After having another look, I figured the majority were shady.

Thanks for helping me. :)

You're welcome. Glad I could help =)

Spam checking algorithms can sometimes be incorrect, so checking through your spam logs is important. However, it's also important to note that sometimes you will get comments that look legitimate but actually aren't.

As a general rule, approving a comment that is spam isn't really going to do your site much harm, particularly if you make sure you don't approve any with URLs in them,

It gets tricky! They actually had me second guessing my judgement.

Ahh, gotcha. I always remove URL's from comments, unless what they're linking is completely awesome. No, you can't have any of my link juice!! XD

Thanks Vince, I appreciate it!

Yeah. Every so often you find comments with a cool link but that's extremely rare. After all, there aren't that many legitimate reasons to include a url in the comment on someone else's site.
