I feel so stupid, but where does the Google code for analytical data go?
Top of every page, yes, but where. Can anyone give me an idiot proof diagram, please!
It's good to ask questions because it's better to get help than getting stuck and frustrated. All the best.
Hi Colin - the easiest way, if you've activated your All-In-One SEO plugin is to put it in there.
In Wordpress, click on All-In-One SEO (near the top of the menu) then General Settings.
Scroll down until you see Google Analytics ID (or just search for it on the page using Ctrl-F). Put the special number that begines with UA- in the box.
E.g. UA-12345678-2
Scroll to the bottom and click on the Update button.
You don't need all the scripting code from Google, just the UA number.
You're welcome. You should start to see figures on your Analytics Dashboard in the next 48 hours (assuming you're getting visitors - at the very least it should track YOUR visits). :)
Oh - and you shouldn't feel stupid for not knowing how to do something. For some people, what they're learning here is a huge learning curve and that's why Kyle encourages people to ask questions! :)

Help! My normal start to each day is dragging my sluggish body to the laptop, slowly sip a piping hot coffee, and read the latest World Cup news. Today, for some reason, I star
If you have no idea who they are, have they haven't commented on your blog or written any articles then they sound like spammers, have you also downloaded the plugin Akismet? that should put a stop to that..
Hi CDevonshire, sorry mate have been away all day here in Sydney came back late tonight!..whew umm if you have Akismet and everything is working correctly then the spam you are getting are human generated. there has been a lot of talk of how the spam can get access even though you have the captcha working, many of the data farms now, just use human workers to get through the captcha and get in. If you only have a small number of comment s then you need to manually check it and delete if they seem funny, apparently that is still the best way to catch spam comments
I've had spam on my WA profile, page. Instantly, deleted that person, and the post.
I they don't know that , this is improper, they they don't know much about WA.
Barb
Be cautious, this may be a scam for fraudsters. You can contact kyle and carson, they will help you solve the problem.

I've been asked to add a link to the 'root' of my website, how do I do this?
Hi Cdevonshire what link are you talking about? is it from google or WA?..oh I think you got that covered
Im not sure how do it, but YouTube has pretty much all you need in videos to show you how. They are a great place to go for information if you don't understand something. I hope that helps.
Not really sure what they mean. LinkConnector Validation
This is what they said,
When we cannot confirm ownership via DNS, we often seek additional confirmation from our prospective affiliates. Please add a page to the root of your website http://dark-novels.com/ called linkconnector.htm with the following code:
Once you've created this file please verify that it is located at http://dark-novels.com/linkconnector.htm.
If you do not have access to the root of your website please add the words 'LinkConnector Validation' to an existing page on your site.
Once youve done this, e-mail us so we can verify at Affiliatereview@LinkConnector.com. We do this as a way to protect you and our network from fraud.
I think they need you to add a verification code, so they can verify that you are the website owner.
For that, I use a plugin, header and footer script plugin.
Once installed, you have 2 options, header and body. See screenshot.
Usually, you have to place verification codes in the header part.
The plugin will appear, after installing under settings on your WP dashboard.
This plugin will be very helpful, also for pasting other verification codes, like Adsense

Excuse my ignorance, but what and where is the root directory?
The root directory is under your main domain, yourwebiste.com. To get to it, you'll need to use the FTP login info in your site details under Websites > Site Manager > Details (of the site you want).
FTP is a way to login to the back end of your site to see how all your files are organized.
May I ask why you are asking for that? I don't think you'll need that access. If it's some code that you need to paste for Google Analytics or something else, you may be able to do it through a plugin instead.
I just don't want you logging into your site's directory unless you really need to... don't want you accidentally deleting or modifying something you shouldn't.
Thank you for your quick reply. Alibaba has asked me to link their affiliate code in the root directory.
Usually you can get a plug-in that you can apply site wide codes to. My theme does this so I don’t have a plug-in that will do that. You can search it in your Plugin, Add New or search for one on Wordpress.org.

Good question, think that you have the answer below.
