I need some advice, please!

Last Update: January 24, 2018

I am currently building an e-commerce store, I will be adding it to my existing niche website. I have all the basic setting ready to go and have added about 100 items but I still have many items I want to add.

The advice I'm looking for is should I link the store to my website now or should I wait until I have more items added? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help,

If you are getting traffic take advantage of it now. You can always add more later.

If you are happy that you have a good product or product range, I would say do it now.

You can always add to it later

I suggest to link it now. Start selling your product while adding more.
Did you know that Dave (DaveSw) is a wealth of knowledge on eCommerce? He is forming eCommerce group right now:

You are welcome.
Unfortunately, just a few days ago Dave lost to cancer his long-time friend and partner. I'm sure he'll move on with the group, but he needs some time... there will be some delay.

Just go with what you've got...you can always add later. It's easy to obsess. I freeze a lot, but I find if I just go for it, everything is fixable later on. Good luck!

Hello Cathy,
I agree with RichardU, don't spend too much time designing the website, put more effort on customer satisfaction and sales.

Too many item can have a big problem which is called choice paralysis where your customer cannot decide where to buy

I will say add as you build and don't wait till it is perfect because there is never gonna be such perfect time. You build, you add you tweak and you learn as you go forward.
You could be selling and making money as you proceed instead of waiting for perfection.
Also do not spend too much time in designing and perfecting the website. Put more energy on point of sale and customer satisfaction. The rest will add up.

Congratulations and I wish you all the best.

I recommend diving in now with the items you have. Waiting for just the right time, or right number of items, or right number of followers...never comes. The longest journey begins with the first step. Then the next step...and keep on going. Learn as you go. But, you need to open your store ‘now’ and nurture its growth.

You’ll never get to second base if you keep one foot in first.

Good luck and best wishes for success and happiness running your e-Store.

Regards, Art

If your niche site is already enjoying a decent following, by all mean link now.....I really liked MeganW 's advice; the wording helps give the store authority (wording sounds like it's not 'new', but the products are). Just as in any store, stock is continually updated; there is no 'perfect'....if your 100+ items are varied enough to give good choices....GO FOR IT! Please keep us updated of your progress.

I would connect now. Why wait? I use a golf axiom to illustrate. "The putt will not go into the hole, if you do not putt the ball past the hole to begin with".

You cannot get sales if you are not open for business. Sorry if I have oversimplified. But if you are happy with the site and are asking this question, then I think you are ready to open.

I would also agree especially if your site is public. If that is the case and you are getting traffic, potential buyers may be put off from your site if they cant click through to the products. You can always add more products and product reviews as you go but, yah, I think you should link now.

All the best and moving forward,
Wayne

Connect it now, I have an e-commerce store and add and take off items each month or week if you wait you are never finished. A store you have to update on a weekly and monthly base.

I would agree - get it connected now and just keep adding. You can always have a heading such as "check out my new products in store now" to highlight the newly added ones.

100 items is enough, how many are you planning on adding.
You can maybe add something and at the same time subtract an item that is not doing as well as you like. Keeping in mind that you can bring the item back

Hi Cathy, I agree with everyone else. Link it now. You've got plenty of items already. You don't want to pass up the opportunity for a sale. You're always going to be changing content anyway.

100 items seems presentable and build out from there, an on line store will never be done updating inventory!

I don't really have experience in this, but would it cause any harm to link it now with 100 items? I agree with the others that it seems like you could link it now, and then add on as you go.

I think that 100 items are plenty to get started with. I would go for it. Adding new items would also be a way to entice customers back to your site.

Best Wishes!

You should go and link it now.

There's no wrong or right on this. If you have a website that is already working as an authority, don't wait, link it and make Google to run its algorithm.

Time is essential in making sure your brand is established..

Ultimately, Internet s moving very fast and if you miss the hook from the algorithm that is going to sweep your product bip into their first page then your viewer or targetted audience will not be captured.

100 items sound like a good start to see what the customers are interested in. You can always expand the items as you go along.
