An Oldie but a Goodie

In this day of instant messaging, texting, emails and yes websites, sometimes an oldie but a goodie form of communication or advertising is still a viable option. What am I talking about?

BUSINESS CARDS

If you have any kind of website that you want people to engage with, having a business card with your website address on it can help greatly. You have to remember that not everyone is technically inclined. Not everyone can easily access the internet.

What would you do if you were at a bar, a restaurant, riding on the bus or train, or at some event where you could possibly be sitting next to someone, and you were discussing your website? How would you get them to your website?

You certainly would not tell them your website address and expect them to remember it. You could write it down for them but who knows, they may not be able to understand your hand writing, plus it would be just another piece of paper in their pocket.

IT DOES NOT COST MUCH

But is business card that is nicely done up can not only give them your website address but do so in a more appealing way. For less than $20 you can get business cards printed up professionally.

I do not know about you people not here in the U.S. but there is a company here that advertises all the time for inexpensive business cards called Vista Print. I have used them a few times over the years and they do a great job.

You can quickly design your card to your liking right on their website and have your cards within a few days. The above pictures are one of the cards I had done for my Legitimate Job From Home website.

DO NOT FORGET YOUR SMARTPHONE

A business card is STILL a great way to get people to engage in your website and do you know what else will greatly help? Having your smartphone available to showcase your website to people before and/or after you give them your business card.

I just recently had the opportunity to be talking about my Free Cancer Cure website with someone who had a sibling just diagnosed with cancer. Not only were they impressed with some of the knowledge I had on my website but wanted a way to get their sister to see it as well.

Yes business cards may seem like a days gone by form of communication and advertising but it certainly is still an oldie but a goodie. So consider getting some business cards or even refrigerator magnets printed up if you haven't already.

Great information and I really like your business cards. Deanna

Thank you Deanna.

An oldie but certainly a Goldie and I have a 100 but never given them out!!!

Well at least you took the first step and got them. Now just start giving them out or tac them to store bulletin boards, like I do from time to time

I did them about nine months ago but as you know sometimes other things get in the way !!!

very useful share. thank you

You are welcome.

Good for sharing the folding business card.

Thank you.

We definitely have Vista Print, commercials & all, here in the states. My husband designed a cool one for his side business - hitting lessons for fastpitch softball. They work out good to write appointment times or, if you meet someone for the first time, you can write a line, like - 'Give me a call when you're ready to set up a lesson time'. In the meantime, the potential client has the web adress to see what 's offered. Thanks for the tip, Robert.

You are welcome Teri. There are so many things you can put on you business card. This is the reason I chose a folded business card. Not only did I have info on the front and back of the card, but the inside gave a brief description of what my website provided.

Great information and thanks for the share :)

You are welcome Tosh. Happy you liked it.

That's a great idea Robert. Might have to get some business cards :)

It is a great low cost investment Tasna for your internet business.

At really important events Robert you can kick it up a notch with 5x7 short form resume business cards that can really draw them in!

That is a really good idea Michael. Anything that you can hand out that will get someone's attention is always a good thing.

Great advice! I just recently posted about using postcards witht a screenshot of your home page. In my case, the homepage didn't quie work so I used my own image. I attached it so you could see.

Mine just arrived yesterday!

Business cards, postcards, magnets or any form of self- advertising that one can do to help promote their website business is, in my opinion, a good business investment.

I love Vistaprint. I use it here in Australia. I have had business cards and flyers designed for my window washing business. This is a great idea regarding promoting our online businesses.

Thanks, Robert.

Great idea using the bar code thingy (I forget what it's called) on the flyers. My sister used to manage a Vista Print business in Perth.

That is awesome Duncan! I didn't know VistaPrint was worldwide. They are are great company! Thanks for sharing.

When I do the signage on my work van, I plan to include the QR code. That allows people who see it parked on the street or in the shopping centre parking lot to scan the code and link to my website.
