Aspartame Has A New Name And Youre Most Likely Buying It!

The highly controversial product, Aspartame, has been regarded by some as one of the most dangerous ingredients used in our food supply – while “official” sources continue to maintain its safety and continue not to mention the “negative” studies.

Aspartame has, in fact, been linked to seizures and a host of other major health issues including fatal cardiovascular events in women. Recent studies (we’ve found them!) have shown that not only does artificial sweetener intake have an association with diabetes , it also increases the risk for heart, kidney, and brain damage.

But these are not the only negative studies: In 1967, Dr. Harold Waisman, a biochemist at the University of Wisconsin, conducted Aspartame safety tests on infant monkeys on behalf of the Searle Company. Of the seven monkeys that were being fed aspartame mixed with milk, one died and five others had grand mal seizures.

A toxin by any other name… the dangers of Aspartame have been known for quite some time now. It is an artificial sweetener with a spectacularly bad track record but is still found in many of the foods we consume daily including “diet” beverages, chewing gum, breakfast cereals, and even fruit preserves like jams and jellies.

It’s important to know what you are eating – and important to understand the way marketing works: In a move to cover up it’s bad reputation, Aspartame has been disguised with a new name in your favorite foods – AMINOSWEET.

Used as a sugar substitute and often marketed under the brand names Nutrasweet or Equal, Aspartame is regarded as an excitotoxin. Its use has been mired in controversy since the 1980s when the CEO of Searle, Donald Rumsfeld (remember him as Secretary of Defense under the Ford and George W presidencies?), pushed for its approval. Now, its name is being changed with FDA approval, will millions more be tricked into purchasing and consuming this toxin once again?

What are excitotoxins?

Excitotoxins are substances, usually amino acids, that stimulate taste receptors on the tongue. They are not preservatives and having no nutritional value, excitotoxins are nothing other than “chemicals added to foods to make them ‘tastier,’” explains Dr. Cathie Lippman, founder of the Lippman Center for Optimal Health.

The most common excitotoxins are aspartame and monosodium glutamate (MSG).

We know that MSG was banned over 20 years ago, yet it still gets used by unscrupulous restauranteurs. So why do we have to put up with this poison Aspartame in all our 'diet' foods? I am a diabetic and, as one, I will still use unrefined cane sugar over ANY artificial sweetener. My consumption of sugar is not the issue; the issue is do I want to avoid the dangers and pitfalls of Aspartame use? To this question I answer with a resounding, "YES!!" For those who DEFINITELY cannot use sugar, I offer you a better alternative to Aspartame - it's called STEVIA; all natural and plant-based.

Let's give it it's proper name Aspartame or AMINOSWEET is actually made from the Fecal matter of the E-coli bacteria.

Aspartame patent reveals E. coli feces used. The European patent for aspartame is now available online, and it confirms the artificial sweetener is made from the waste products of genetically modified E. coli bacteria.Aug 27, 2013

Hard to believe good old Donald Rumsfeld wants you all to go Eat Sh_t.

I want Rumsfeld to go eat sh_t!

I wonder how this kinda thing is allowed to go on, I really do. It's like they're trying to kill us, is this part of the population control measures that conspiracy theorists are always harping on about?

chemtrails, msg, aspartame, fluoridated water, gmo, pesticides, plastics that contain chemicals that lower sperm count, the list is endless. I am starting to believe the conspiracy people that I once believed to be nut jobs.

Conspiracy huh?
They don’t have to Buy Your Government Officials… if They Are Your Government Officials

The White House had instructed the FDA to promote biotechnology, and the agency official in charge of policy was Michael Taylor, Monsanto’s former attorney, later their vice president. He’s now the US Food Safety Czar.

Thank you, President Obama.

Talk about leaving the Fox to guard the Henhouse.

President Obama, was just recently in Flint, MI and had a sip of their water and told the people there it was safe to drink.

Look out for yourself.

I'm in Canada and they'll have an ice skating party on the devil's front lawn before I shut up.

Read my GMO rant on my site.

I REST MY CASE!!! I wasn't going to say that part. It just grosses me out.

I have a couple on my website as well.
I'll PM you and we can exchange links.
Phil

I remember years ago on UK Celebrity Big Brother, that horse racing pundit John McCririck was in there. He had a bunch of cans of Diet Coke which Big Brother took away from him. He got really angry and wouldn't talk to anyone. All this over Diet Coke?

Many years ago I used to drink Diet Coke, and it definitely felt addictive. I was just drinking sweet chemicals.

I believe the junk food industry is as bad as the drug industry. How come cannabis is illegal but all this junk food crap is perfectly legal? Follow the money...

The only reason that cannabis is illegal is because the government can't figure how to tax it and get away with legalizing it at the same time.

Absolutely spot on, BigBroian!

They say that cannabis can cause mental illness in some individuals. Well, alcohol causes aggression in a LOT of people (so do football games). And then there are the car crashes caused by drunk drivers, and liver disease. Yet it's legal because they get a lot of tax money from it. If someone invented alcohol right now, there's no way it would be approved.

There's another reason to keep pot illegal in the US, it helps keep the corporate run prison system full.

correctomundo, Phil.

If you want to understand anything, just follow the money. If this happens, who benefits and who suffers?
Usually, it's the Big Corporations and the 1% that benefit and the middle class and poor who suffer.

Very true.

Thanks for that heads up. I've been using stevia for years now but have had my fair share of diet sodas (and even gum) with aspartame. So maddening that the people care more about making money than our health. How many people will know about it's new name? Glad we have YOU!!!! I'm forwarding this!

You are most welcome.

Thank you so much for sharing this, Ian! I don't use anything with artificial sweeteners. I've planted Stevia before, and use honey, also. I wish nobody in the world would buy stuff they know is bad, and it would put the ones making the crap, out of business. I guess that'll never happen, though.

The problem is that, with the US Secretary of Defense (Rumsfeld) hawking all this crap for his own gain and the billionaire owners of the drug companies, where do we begin to attack the situation? I leave that question out there for all to ponder.

Thank you for posting this! Aspartame, even a small amount, makes me ill so I can spot it in something, after the fact. It's good to know it's new alias before hand so I can avoid it right off. It's very tough to find food without artificial sweeteners...like gum. Bubblishious is the only one I've found, so far (but I will recheck the ingredients now just to be sure) and it is getting harder to find. I use unpasteurised honey and 100% pure maple sugar for sweeteners. JERF (JustEatRealFood)

Glad to help, Dawn.

I am very aware of packaging details but was unaware of this one. Aspartame being disguised.....wow! We only use Stevia in our home and am very mindful of what is on package labels, including sodium, sugar, msg and all the extra substances(chemicals) that are unrecognizable to us. But AminoSweet is a new one. I am so glad that you shared this with us! Thank you :-)

Anything 'diet', 'calorie-reduced', 'low-sodium' and others labeled like that are all suspect.

Wow....low sodium!! We are always choosing anything with less sodium because there is SO much sodium in everything!! It is crazy! Bottom line ~ I guess we just can't buy anything processed!! I will be very mindful of this from now on!

Yeah, Diane. All processed meats have extremely high sodium content. That includes all our favorite pizza toppings. On my website, thebudgetchef.ca I have written about buying fresh from farmers and local smokehouses for processed meats. They use a lot less salt and, most times, no NITRITES (the chemical that turns hams and bacon sort of pink even when they are finished. A safe alternative to buying processed meats is to smoke them yourself. There are cheap smoker kits available for BBQ's. Check your local Home Depot or Lowes if you live in North America.

Thanks for sharing this important information. My wife has MS and we have been using sugar over the chemicals for a long time. It is good to know how they have disguised Aspartame with a new name.
You can call a pig a dog but it is still a pig.I will keep Stevia in mind and ask my wife if she is familiar with it.

Marty

Stevia is a wonderful, plant-based sweetener that has no side effects for anyone I've known. As a diabetic, I use it when I travel and in all my baking.

Thanks for sharing Stevia, Your image is not coming up.

Must be too large.

Thank you for sharing. I try to avoid Aspartame...but it is hard! It seems to be everywhere!
Is MSG actually banned? I still see it listed on ingredient labels - Like on "Mr. Noodle" type soups.
I really wish food manufacturers would actually take our health into consideration when making the foods our family eat but sadly it is all about the money for them. If they can make something cheap that tastes good enough to have us coming back for more they have struck the gold mind, even if it is made with chemicals that alter our brain and make our bodies sick :(

It is partially banned here in Canada, but other jurisdictions I'm not sure of.
The manufacturers don't really care. They just look at the bottom line. Here's a simple work around for the Mr. Noodle types of foods. When you buy them, toss out the packet of 'soup mix' and use a commercial brand of stock, like Campbell's Beef Stock or Chicken Stock. They have slightly elevated salt levels, but they have NO chemicals. You can add finely diced vegetables as well and simmer for about 20 minutes. Then add the noodles, cook and serve.
I often buy bulk packages of noodles and save more money that way too.

With all due respect, the science doesn't back the claim that aspartame causes health problems. Also, people love to use the word "toxins" without really understanding it. Toxicity is NOT determined by the chemical itself, but the amount of those chemicals ingested.

Water can be toxic if you drink enough, yet nobody considers water to be toxic, nor would they suggest you don't drink it.

True, even about water but, having been in the food industry for over 50 years, I tend to be a 'little' bit aware of the many things we ingest on a daily basis, and aspartame is in so many things today, just like GMO products.
I try to be aware and keep my followers on the same page.

I use Stevia and wish that more restaurants and coffee shops would offer Stevia packages. I didn't realize the danger of the other sweeteners disguised by their 'new' names. Now, for sure, I won't be using Nutrasweet nor Equal as sugar substitutes.

Will be sure to carry small packets of Stevia with me from now on.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but sugar is safer than the chemical 'sweeteners'. Stevia is good for ALL sweetening duties, including cooking. Just reduce the recipes by 1/3. So if it says 3 tsp sugar, only use 2.

Thanks so much for this important information Ian!
I personally eat whole foods and only use raw sugar (the few times I use sugar).
I am going to print this out for my very stubborn husband, sufferer of 2 heart attacks, type II diabetes, and denial.
Typical husband behavior...he listens to others before he listens to me, lol.
Thank you!!!

Give him my website address and have him email me if he really wants to hear about it. I'm a Type 11 diabetic as well and I don't have to use insulin due to my eating and exercise regimen. I'd like to help.

Thanks so much, Ian.
I control his diet somewhat by proxy, and he is not insulin dependent yet. He uses metformin and cheats in moderation but when I say stubborn I am talking MULE!
I shared this article from your website.

Mule, in my case, translated to Jackass!! Almost killed myself before I smartened up. It took a serious 6-week stay in hospital 9 years ago to get through to me.

Hmph! Men! lol

Thanks!!!?? I think? lol
