I have had a really nice surprise . One of my post titles has made page 1 on google! It has 356 searches a month according to Jaaxy.
I picked a really competitive niche before understanding what I should have done, but decided to plug along anyway and learn the basics.
Another keyword has been alternating between page 3 and 4 for ages. It has 1200 searches a month.

Actually all my keywords were indexed within a couple of days of posting. The site is new but I have the domain name for about 8 years. Don't know if that helps much but I doubt it does.
I knew absolutely nothing about ranking for keywords before joining WA!
I have not got a lot of content up either because of time problems with a full time job, so I am really encouraged to discipline myself a bit more now to do so.
So for anyone who may be impatient or discouraged don't lose faith. Don't obsess over this either. Just keep writing the best content you can (and it does get easier with practice) and results will come.
When you see it works for you it takes that little nagging doubt away from the back of your mind. I hoped to see progress in another 4 or 5 months, but it just shows if you optimise your post and do as instructed you do not even need lots of content to get going.
Hope this encourages you to keep believing and to know that it will happen if it has not already done so for you.
