Where do these 'tags' come from for my blogs, and how do I go about putting them there?

I see you already have answers, l am only catching up on emails plus load shedding the network is bad, will be calling it evening soon.

Your tags are the words from your posts that you feel would be important for the ranking of your document. I tend to try and use some of the words from my heading and what the post is about. It is words that people would look up when searching for something on google.

When you want to put them in your post, there is a box down the right hand side of your page that says Tags and has a small + sign. You put them in there. I wouldn't use anymore than about 5 or 6. I hope this helps.

I'm going to try that. Actually, I wasn't too sure what a 'tag' even was. ;)

YES!

I don't know anything about tags.. Hopefully that's in a lesson I haven't taken yet. From what little I've heard tags are important in helping to get your site ranked high. I would think that would mean using good keywords in your tags.

Yes Exactly! I did the excercise on my own web. At first I threw in a few just for good looks. I used the auto button in the post page. Then I found a plugin that checked for keywords and it throughout an error message at me to check my tags. After some investigation I worked out that I should check to see what is the most efficient tag and use my keyword too. There are a few lessons online to help and a plugin called Smartcrawl SEO Checker and Analyser (has an Avatar Lady as an Icon) Traffic improved after that.

When writing or editing your blog in site manager, you will see some features on the right. One of them gives you the possibility to add tags, which should be buzz words relevant to the text.

I use this way also, however I find that sometimes my keyword is not in the suggestions and I double check by googling for most popular tags for the topic. Since doing this traffic has on my site increased significantly. I used a tag plugin that gave an error message saying keywords not in tags. Hope this helps too. Jen

Hi Wynette, this is what I do. I took a screen shot so you can see. I google "hashtag for (topic you pick). And then I store them away on a word doc to use again later. They are recorded in you web site called posts>tags too. Now there may be another way that's easier but this works for me. Jen

do you have to do something special for the public to see them?

Hi - if you mean the blog posts you write here on the WA platform, then anybody can see them. This is a website just like any other, and can be found on Google searches.

Hi Wynette

You can share a WA blog on your social media (or anywhere else), I have written some training about it, here is the link: You will see that the training starts off speaking about how we can share our own WA affiliate links and then goes into how to share blogs from within the community.

Hope this helps you.

You discovered me two obvious but Important details. Until now i haven’t paid lot of attention to the functionality of those links 👌

Hi Ivo
Glad to be of assistance :)

no, if keywords are selected right, other people can see also. I was curious about this also and searched through Google. Some of the blogs come up, especially the members who have been here longer than a year.

Is there a dictionary or encyclopedia to help me understand the language used in all this computer stuff?

hi & welcome to Wealthy Affiliate Premium!

Good question and all questions are good ones here!

There's a lot to learn on this platform -- and it can be overwhelming at first --- the secret to success is to take it step-by-step and to work at your own pace to your comfort level.

It looks like you've already got an engaging discussion thread going with helpful tips along the way ....

All the very best to you for every Success .... :)

It can be extremely overwhelming in the beginning even for people with some background. Fortunately, there are many resources online you can look at. YouTube is a great tool. I use it pretty often. You can also browse through WA. Some people may have already asked the same question and it was already answered.

Hope it helps.

I look at YouTube all the time but where there do you go to find answers to your questions about computer language?

Well, we need to be as specific as possible when looking for answers online. It might imply rewording your question and looking in as many places as you can.

Today, for instance, I was having trouble with Facebook images and I had to do a lot of searching until I finally found it.

Wynette, it will get easier. I came here having some online knowledge but was overwhelmed with the web design side of things. So I asked questions of members who had been here longer and who had completed the training. Remember we all come here as experts in what we have been doing, but then have to start from scratch to become online experts. Hang in there and keep doing the training. If I can be of any help, let me know. :)

All the best to you!
Colleen

I often google concepts or words that are far too "techno" for me to get my head around. As someone else said here, I sometimes find videos to explain it or walk me through certain steps. It took me a few weeks of googling and giving up on the idea of a sitemap before I finally found a resource that made sense to me!

Sometimes, instead of googling the phrase itself, I'll google "What is..." and the phrase or "Why do I need..." or "How to..." because the responses that are given under those tend to be explained better for those of us that are lost.

I Google and I have Cortana, who is great with helping, but sometimes even those guys don't help me. So I'm just trudging along figuring out some things by just guessing. LOL I try...

Sometimes experimentation is frustrating. Other times it gets you better results than what you were looking for! :P

Some people have found "Computers for Seniors for Dummies" and "PCs for Dummies" books to be invaluable. You don't have to be a "dummy" to read them 😍

I didn't know they even existed. I will just have to check them out. Is there a best place to find them?

I know that they're sold on Amazon. If you are going to buy one of them then see if you can find one of our members who is an affiliate for Amazon (most of us are) so the tiny commission goes somewhere instead of Amazon's deep pocket.

I remember when they created the first "Dummies" books! They were computer books to teach tech to the masses. I was going back to finish my BA after taking a few years off to work, save and get back to it. They are great a presenting whatever material in bite size portions with visuals and info galore.

Changing with the times they actually have a website at dummies.com where you can look things up for FREE! Kinda like wikipedia. You have to wade through a mazillion ads, but since we are interested in Affiliate Marketing... seeing ads in action can be interesting. There's also a link to their huge print library and store.

Thank you. I will look them up. ;)
