I Wanna Rob a Bank

UOkay...maybe not ACTUALLY rob a bank, but I have thought of it...

No need to panic or alert the New York City Police...it was just a thought. I promise!

There have been times, when driving on a highway and I see someone tailgating, that I thought to stop the car abruptly so they could crash into me, then speed away! I figure that might cure them of tailgating ever again! I have also had the thought of smacking parents who can't control their children in public, allowing them to run amok!

So, for any of you feeling concerned over my mental well-being, I'm fine...really. These are just thoughts, but I never considered to act upon any of them. Never. Well...maybe the parent thing...In my day, all parents had to do was give you "the look" and you knew to behave...like, immediately! But I digress...

Back to the thoughts...my "Big Bro" Michael (Ultimateless) had written a great post recently on success:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/ultimateless/blog/...

I left a comment, but it got me thinking about having doubts. One of the definitions of doubt, as defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary is "an uncertain belief or opinion". But what is a belief or opinion...isn't it a thought?

Often we hear things like "Don't doubt yourself, just believe." Or, "Never doubt".

Sounds like a great recipe for success, right! But, here's the issue: We do doubt! Sometimes, often! There is not week that goes by that I don't have doubts about one thing or another; sometimes the list of doubts is quite extensive!

But here's the thing, the doubts are just thoughts. They haven't become "things" yet. When those doubts start to creep into our minds, we have two options: Give them a quick glance, perhaps recognize they exist and say a quick, "Hey, thanks for the tip!", then move on! Or, we can stare at them...gaze upon them...examine them from every angle, and even "play" with those doubts and bring them to life.

So the issue is not "if" we will have doubts, but "when".

The reality is that every tangible thing was first nonexistent...in the physical sense anyway (no,no, no...don't leave! I promise, I won't get too deep! Stay!). Most people had the thought and many discussions before they have a child or children, don't they? Even in the training, we're asked about our money goals, right? They are goals because they haven't become tangible yet! Those goals are thoughts, and with the right and consistent actions, those thoughts can become tangible.

If you're not already in the habit of doing so, perhaps you want to start taking time to self-examine, to see what your weaknesses are or those areas in your life that need tweaking. This will be helpful with arming yourself with the "weapons" to fight those doubts, and keep them from becoming things.

I think it's less about "if" or "when" and more about the "what".

What will you do when those doubts start to form? Do you have your "arsenal" in place, or do you have to rummage through piles of junk to find those weapons?

If you tend to get overwhelmed easily, do you allow for breaks and time to decompress? Perhaps your energy is lacking and those doubts start to creep in when you're feeling lethargic. What's your plan of attack? Healthier eating? Exercising more? I've heard it said that procrastination stems from fear (yes...very interesting), so what fears prevent you from moving forward and doing what you said you want to accomplish?

Personally, I think we need to stop saying things like "don't doubt". Or, "have no "fear". We have doubts and we have fears and it's OK!!! Those feelings of doubt are neither good nor bad, but rather, the action we take that make them so.

That's all for now folks! So, just to be clear: I am NOT promoting the robbing of any banks...or stopping short on highways...and smacking anyone's parents! But what you can always do is...

Strive to Thrive,
Veronica

Veronica - very profound! And so, so true! I find myself doubting my abilities to make a success of myself here quite a bit, unfortunately. There is so much more involved than I initially thought there would be - and because I still work a full-time job, finding time to do everything I would like to do and "need" to do is difficult. That makes me think "am I ever going to be a success?" I think the key is to never give up - don't give in to those thoughts of doubt. Like you say, it's human nature to have them - just don't let them overcome your confidence and thoughts of success! Very inspiring for me this morning, thanks for sharing!
Julie

It really is a daily battle, Julie. That's why it's so important to feed your mind with anything that will spur you towards your goals.

Pray, chant, meditate, read, sing, jump out of a plane...whatever! Just keep moving forward, even if you have to drag yourself! And always keep yourself open to new ways of doing something!

All the best to you, Julie!

That is awesome Veronica never doubted for one moment that you were in that niche, classic such a good message that you have presented. The thing is, it is not if but when that self-doubt will strike.
You know that immunity is starting to kick in when in reflection we say ok I have ended up in this position, I might just take this course of action.
Thanks for sharing your insights, can't imagine it.

What can't you imagine, Alex? Me having road rage or slapping someone, lol. I actually don't have nor would ever do either, but there are those thoughts...

Thanks for your comment Professor X!

That is epic, we all have those thoughts from time to time.

Veronica, Veronica, Veronica. I thought that you were a newborn one. Hahaha. But as you said, when you doubt you are double minded. You want to survive and you want to thrive. So you have to choose. Fear and doubts are emotions to let us survive and not to thrive. If you want to thrive, you have to drive them out with the right thoughts, which you believe, through the spoken word. You drive a negative thought out, with the spoken word, contrary to that thought.

Ah Nelson....these words I know. Who among us has never doubted? Acknowledging our shorcomings and giving into them are two different things, my friend.

We don't have to acknowledge them, but we have to replace them with the fruits of righteousness which we want to bear. It's a matter of positioning and action taking. I will write a blog about it in the evening.

You know, at first, I was in disagreement. But then I looked up the definition of acknowledge: to recognize the rights and autbority of; to admit as true; to express thanks for.

So, I stand corrected. I don't want to "recognize the rights or authority" of any self-defeating emotion, but I do need to be real about their presence.

The Bible calls for Christians to be "transformed by the renewing of your mind" (Romans 12:2). So if we have to transform something, it means to make different, to change from bad to good, from negative to positive, doubt to hope, fear to faith.

I see how I used the word "acknowledge" incorrectly. I appreciate your comment, Nelson because it caused me to dig deeper. I'll make that change in my post right now. Thank you!

You are welcome, my sis in the Lord. I acknowledge thee. Lol.

Veronica, you've got such an incredible energy! The words kind of flows like a beautiful waterfall out of your fingertips. You've certainly got a great writing talent!

Doubts, yes they arise now and then. My plan of attack: I visualise how I fly around in my airplane, looking at my privat Island with a wonderful beach, huge house, fantastic garden and my own roller coaster park. This is of course only one of my many residences in the world. ;-)

Well, it is a very good thing to visualise and what helps me the most is to think about how wonderful it will be, when I am independant and can work from where ever I am in the world and being able to visit my Family up in the North of Scandinavia when ever I wish to.

"We have to reach for the stars, in order to get to the moon!"

P.S. Veronica, I can't wait until you conquer Kyle and Carson the throne! You've got a speed of a rocket!!

I actually have a Vision Board with a picture of...yep, a plane!!! But my vision was just to ride it to take me around the world. Your vision is to OWN the plane the plane tbat takes you around the world! Gotta tweak my vision!!!

Hahaha...I'll need a heck of a lot more that my wit to dethrone Kyle and Carson, gurl!!!

You're not the only one who's had these thoughts, Veronica. I've come very close to letting a tailgater rearend my car intentionally. I have, however, pulled over the second they got too close and let them pass, then rode on THEIR bumper for a mile or so just to give them a taste of their own medicine. Probably lucky I wasn't the victim of road rage.

These days, I have a much more Zen approach. I just take it easy, knowing that everything will work out, No hurry. No worries.

BTW - takimg time to decompress... also very good advice!

Yeah, I generally pull over and let them pass. It cracks me up when we both meet up at the same red light!

I was just thinking, she should write a book, and there was "That's all for now folks."
All emotions are there, doubt, fear, love, courage, shyness, arrogance etc. It's our choice which ones we allow to be the boss and the way we use them.
You need doubt and fear when you want to cross a crowded highway, but you don't need them when you push the publish button on a blog :)

Absolutely!!! We can choose which emotions we nourish and which ones we'll starve!

Hi Veronica,
You are so on point with this post!! I have been in this boat so many times it's ridiculous, and I keep going back!! For me it's a lack of having someone in my corner to believe in me. People read what I've written, but there's something missing and I can't put my finger on it. That fuels my procrastination to where I don't want to write, because I feel like no one is interested. I really like what I do, it's not about the money for me, (I haven't made a dime), I like to write. Sometimes doubt for me is a bit overwhelming!! Enough of that, UGH, I'm starting to depress myself!! Thank you for your information and insight. Have a great week, take care my friend. No bank robbing please....lol!!
Mary

I think many of us have been in that same boat, Mary. But we can decide how long we stay!

Have you ever gotten feedback using Site Rubix? Granted, sometines you get the standard "great post" but in the feedback (not comments) people seem to keep it real. Even though feedback has to do with reviewing your site, you can ask specifically for feedback just on content. I love it!

I have no doubt that you'll find the missing piece, Mary!

My wife always says: "you're your worst enemy".

She's right! (she always is, so why would this one be different, LOL)

Never doubt! Believe in your dreams and picture your goals in your mind as they are being accomplished, and that insightful vision will make that happen!

Thanks for sharing inspiration, Veronica!

Cheers and success!

Yep! I a definitely Enemy #1 when it comes to pursuing my dreams.

Thanks for your comment, Israel.

Great post! I love it. I've had those thoughts, too... I have had at least 2 friends who were able to make sizeable amounts of money by doing... questionable things. I kept thinking to myself, "gee, if I didn't have morals, I could be rich!" Ha ha! Kind of funny, kind of sad.

The Power of Positivity is a big thing these days, and I think that is great because I do believe in it, but I think that it's important to remember that even the best of us, as you pointed out, do have doubts. We all have occasional feelings of insecurity. No one should feel like a failure for not being all positivity, all the time.

Negative thoughts can be a great impetus for positive action.

WHOA!!! Your last sentence is powerful!!! Gosh, I really do appreciate your comments, Craig! Me thinks I need to "tweak" my vocabulary, lol.

I am happy to come and share comments. You know I'm definitely one of your fans here at WA.

Ditto...

Wow....you have created the perfect example of how it is normal to have "not so nice" thoughts creep into our mind but we know what we can't act upon them or take them seriously. I had never thought about it before until you pointed it out, our doubts and fears should be handled the exact same way.

Thanks!!!!

It's funny, but I hadn't really given it too much thought until after I read Michael's post. I was leaving him a comment that was turning into a mini post, lol.

I think there are a lot of things we say on a regular basis that just seems "normal". I'm definitely guilty of doing that, but I find myself questioning those cliches more as I get older.

I always appreciate your comments, Sondra. Thank you!
