Don't You Just Love the Ads on Youtube?

Actually, I'm being facetious in asking that question. I just didn't want to come down too hard on a resource as great as YouTube absolutely is.

But, in being honest, I wonder what is going on with the presentation of videos on YouTube.

I don't log into YouTube for fun. When I enter YouTube, I am searching for helpful information, via video presentation.

Videos I choose to watch are seldom less than 20 minutes in length; some being up to an hour-long. Videos of that length require continual concentration. Otherwise, there's no point in spending that amount of time on the chosen resource.

Often, a Gem Appears While Viewing a Video

That gem can make a significant difference to what I'm aiming for.

Wow, 'this is just what I need', goes my stream of thought when suddenly - Oh... No...NOT AGAIN! An Intruder suddenly enters with all the energy of the most qualified Salesperson on this planet. Perhaps, stratosphere is a better word!

So annoying are these ads, hungry for attention, that they intercept the video telling how great their product is, and how much I can learn from them.

Interruptions such as I've explained, started a few weeks ago. I can't be sure precisely how long. But, I certainly do not understand the reasoning of YouTube, allowing these advertisements to intercept the presentation of another member's video.

I'm questioning whether advertisement interruptions while viewing a YouTube video are being experienced by other members?

Of course, this cannot be an isolated issue. If so, what could I have done to initiate such a problem?

I wish you all a wonderful weekend.

An ad blocker might be worth considering. I've been using one for years and I'm happy with it. It's also free. Besides blocking ads on YouTube, it also blocks excessive ads on other websites which can cause them to take forever to download.

That's an idea, Gloria. Thank you. Using an ad blocker had not occurred to me. I will take a look at what is available.

Most of the YT videos come with advertisements. I think this is how the video owner makes money from ads. Well, have to learn to live with it ... the ads can't even be skip.

I dare say you are correct in what you say, Chang. But, it's unbelievable that YouTube has gone down the track of allowing such disturbance for visitors to their platform.

I find YouTube ads distracting and annoying.

Those ads certainly are distracting, Jane.
Thanks for your comment :)

Yep, it happens to me all the time now. Ads popping up in the middle of videos, and a portion of the video sometimes gets chopped so you miss bits. It's actually even more annoying on a short video, as they are brief and to the point.

Thanks so much for your comment, Darren. It is appalling what YouTube has let happen with these ads. Due to recent viewing being on lengthy videos, I hadn't realized that the interruption on short videos would be so fierce. It will be interesting to see what happens with YouTube as, to my way of thinking, they are driving visitors away from what was an excellent resource.

I watched a 6 minute video the other day and had to suffer 3 ads during it!!!

I am quickly finding YouTube too annoying to go on and I can’t be alone.

Oh, Jon. That is shocking - 3 ads in 6 minutes. It seems to me that YouTube has let it's self down badly.

You are certainly not alone with the annoyance of what YouTube is delivering.

Many thanks for your comment :)

You are not alone Valerie. It can be infuriating at times, especially when the video itself might not be that long. I use an adblocker which works very well considering it's a free one. It also stops some of those emails that end up at the top of your inbox and all the ads down the side. I don't necessarily mind the ads, it just slows my page load time down.

Hi Twack, I'm sorry to learn that you are experiencing the same thing with YouTube ads. I couldn't believe that YouTube would allow such activity. Obviously, I'm not up with the play.
I hadn't thought about using an adblocker. I'll take a look at that although it may not work well for me due to having Adsense on one of my sites. And that's another story. It was something that worked very well years ago!! Oh, how things change!

Thanks so much for your comment, Twack :)

You're always welcome Valerie.

I know what you mean. I can tolerate the pre-roll ads but the mid video ads are very annoying.

Absolutely, David. I totally agree. I'm unable to reason why YouTube has gone this track.

Thanks very much for leaving your comment :)

The only reason they went this way is more money...There is nothing else to say here. YouTube makes millions per day with advertising...

Disruption marketing can be annoying and frustrating all rolled into one.

Especially when you are being retargeted.

Happening more and more.

Then hey presto you will be offered a free trail of YouTube premium.

Which comes ad free for a price.

Then again as marketers watching ads can be grist for the mill.

Always learn something.

I have to agree with you ads in the middle really do interrupt the flow.

Disruption, being the operative word. Oh, how I dislike those disruptions!

Youtube is certainly not an encouragement for creating videos at present. Hopefully, they will become aware of their mistake in allowing these ads to intervene in quality content.

There were several times I was watching a video on YouTube when an ad appeared. My thoughts were that the video was not functioning and so I left it to find a replacement video. Eventually, I woke up to the fact that the ads had become a part of 'every-day life on YouTube'.

Anyway, Alex. It is what it is!

The worst is an ad when I'm in the middle of a meditation...talk about jarring! They're not very well-chosen either because I just see the same ads over and over; there's no variety. I quickly grow to despise the companies that are advertising, which seems counterproductive to their goal.

That's funny. Certainly not what you want when meditating.

Absolutely, Kate. I agree with you. I dislike the companies as you do, but it's YouTube whose allowing this to happen. It certainly turns me away from creating videos, which is supposed to be the way-to-go with our marketing.

Thanks very much for leaving your comment. I appreciate it :)

Yes, This media is a great source of every niche you may think of. The fun side of it is you just watch and listen. But personally I would rather read than watch! Thanks for the message Valerie!

I agree with you, Florentino. I would rather read the answers I'm seeking. But, often the information I'm looking for is more readily accessible on YouTube, than in writing. However, if YouTube continues with their excessive advertising I will one whose visits decrease rapidly.

Thanks very much for your comment :)
