An Update on Mysterious Cyber Alerts Day 21 of 23

It is now six days since my post regarding alerts to a Cyber Connection error.

I promised to let members know about progress with this issue.

I am sorry to advise, I have not found an answer to those alerts in spite my efforts with asking questions.

Process of Elimination

The first inquiry I made was from the manufacturer of my mobile phone. The person was very attentive to the entire problem but could not answer my question about the source of those alerts.

Due to the fact he could not deal, virtually, with the various malfunctions of the phone that surfaced after the third alert, he recommended visiting the store of my service provider.

Store No. 1

When I visited the service provider’s store, the assistant was not able to provide an answer as to where those alerts came from.

Store No. 2

I then visited a mobile phone repair store and asked the attendant for information about the alerts. He could not give me an answer, either.

However, I did learn that the phone does have a built-in assistant. All I can think is the alerts came via that assistant.

Online Searches

Since visiting the stores I've searched on Google about these alerts but have not been successful in obtaining an answer.

I also entered a question into my service provider’s website search bar, but did not receive a response. The search bar remained blank!

Verdict

So, at this stage of the proceedings, regrettably I do not have an answer to where those alerts originated from.

What I can say is – after the 3rd and last alert, my phone was not working correctly. It still functions, but not at 100 per cent.

It is clear that those alerts came from a source with knowledge that my phone was on a decline. How, this could happen remains a mystery.

Technology! I know we need it for our websites, but it is weird at a level of such sophistication as I experienced.

It definitely sounds like some ki d of malware. To be on the safe side, I would back up all pertinent data, such as phone numbers, and then erase and restore the phone to its factory settings. I use Gmail because it saves my photos and contacts to the cloud.

I have found that it is not uncommon for entry level tech workers at phone companies to have minimal knowledge of the products they suppoer. You have to escalate your problem to an experienced technician or engineer.

Good luck, a problem like this is a pain, but it really does sound like your phone has been compromised and it is fixable.

Thanks very much for the advice, Wendy.

The phone is fixable but at a hefty price. It is more than three years since purchased, therefore beyond guarantee terms.
I'm not sure it is worthwhile the cost of repair.

I'll see how it goes for the immediate future. Also, I'm considering an attempt to speak with a technician at the service company I subscribed to.

Good Morning Valerie,

You are sure it was not a message from out of space? oh well, never a dull moment with all this technology.

Off on our little trip, the weather promises to be good with 20C.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Good morning, Taetske,

I believe the alert was from out of space. It certainly wasn't generated within my home. Very spooky!

I'm pleased for you that the weather promises to be good for your trip. Enjoy your time away.

Valerie

That's really mysterious. It's only technicians have the knowledge of it or the company that invented the phone.

That's what I thought but the representative of the company that invented of the phone, who I spoke with, did not know what the alerts were about.

Technology is not my forte, but it was interesting to read your take on it.

Technology can be great. It can also be a pain, which this experience is.

Thanks very much Allan for your comment :)

How mysterious! Do you think you'll ever figure it out?

I doubt it, Fran. Only time will tell, or maybe not!
As you say, it is mysterious.

Strange. Do you think it could be
a case of being hacked?

Yes, I wondered if my phone was hacked. I was told by the service provider assistant that it wasn't hacked, but I am suspicious because nowhere, even on Google, can I find an answer. Perhaps I should make a phone call to the service provider. I will give a little more thought before doing so.

Hmmm a true mystery!
Anyone have any ideas?

I hope they do, Liz.

It gets more mysterious by the hour!!
