Hooray! I'm Six Years Old Today!
Published August 2, 2024
Another August 2nd has come; and this time, I'm six years old - at WA!
I have made it a tradition to do an 'anniversary' post at this time every year. So here we go!
For this one, I'm not going to recount all my achievements from the past year(s). Instead, I will summarize my journey and say what my online business has become.
The beginning
I have indicated in several of my posts that I did not join WA to engage in affiliate marketing. I was offering a service offline, and believed that the service would work online as well.
But I soon observed that it could not work as I had initially imagined. I thought I would have started earning from it right away. But no, there were challenges to overcome:
1. I was new online, and was not known and or trusted; and
2. I had little to no traffic; and as a result, a very low earning potential.
Moreover, the niche concerned has no affiliate programs online. So I was left with just Google AdSense as a potential source of income – which I had to sign up for.
. . . but you know how AdSense income ‘crawls’.
The turning point
However, things started to change as I kept on reading other WA members’ posts, started contacting them in person to ask for details; and tried to apply things they had written about. It was a learning curve, but it has paid off.
How things are today
Fast forwarded to today, in addition to AdSense and YouTube, the main aspect of my online business can be summarized as follows:
- I make YouTube videos which provide useful information for my viewers (but also advertise my service); and then
- viewers of the channel who are in need of the service sign up.
And you know what? The service in question is the same one that I had been providing offline, and that I joined WA to offer online. (My initial objective of joining WA is therefore being achieved). So these days, I focus more on making videos than writing articles because that is where the money is coming from.

A truth told by Kyle
My journey so far reminds me of the recent post by Kyle in which he said that we could benefit from WA in ways other than the usual ones. My favorite Recoup Method in that post is Number 3 (One Interaction and One Person in Your Network Could Be Worth $700/Year) because it's the one that I've benefitted from the most.
It was after reading a post by a fellow WA member (who it seems is no longer here) that I ventured into YouTube (with no prior knowledge or experience in video making). And it was after reading another WA member’s post about email marketing that I got engaged in it.
So for sure, there are many different ways available here for a member to pay his/her subscription as Kyle indicated. You only have to find what works for you.
My view of things
One thing I have learned while being a WA member is that not everyone succeeds by way of the training alone. Sometimes, you need to adapt the training to your own reality to have it work as you want it.
In my six years here, I have seen some members get discouraged and eventually leave, and I think their problem was not knowing how to apply the training to their situation. WA provides the tools (i.e. the training, etc.), but each one has to learn how to use/apply them. That's where the challenge usually is.
Pieces of advice
If I were to give advice to members who find it difficult to make money or to make more of it (as I do in these 'anniversary' posts), my advice would be:
1. (once again) Read posts of other members in which they explain how they are making it (you will find ideas to try out);
2. Contact those members – if you need to – for guidance; and
3. Try out ideas you come across in those posts that resonate with you.
I want to believe in that way things will begin to turn around for you. And then you can make adjustments where necessary to ensure success.
That’s the ‘formula’ I applied to get my business where it is today, and I believe that WITH TIME (Yes, that is very important!), that formula will work for anyone.
(The month of May is my niche peak season)
Still not there
In spite of my current level of success, I still have a goal to reach. It is true that I make money online everyday (there’s at least a few dollars that come from YouTube and AdSense everyday); and it is not bad when you add my earnings from the main aspect of my business (summarized above). But my ultimate goal is to be able to survive entirely off the internet.
And my next step on the road to achieving that is to introduce my business on other platforms online instead of working with YouTube alone. That's what I intend working toward in the coming year.
Thank you
Thank you for taking the time to read my 6th anniversary post. Here’s to more avenues for earning in the coming year!
Yours,
Trodvies . . . @ 6

Congratulations on having the patience, persistence, and stamina to make 6 years.
You are achieving your goals. Offer your services to more people online. The money that you are earning from Adsense and YouTube is a bonus. You are being paid to advertise versus paying for advertising.
Congratulations again on a job well done.
Hi, MrDon. I really like your presentation of my reality. Thanks a lot for your kind wishes.
You are quite welcome. Do you remember the old adage, "You are what you eat?".
In this business we get what we focus on. I keep shifting my focus and haven't solidified a single thing.
That being said, I am learning an awful lot.
Enjoying the hourney.
MrDon
You're right. We do get (i.e. succeed in) what we focus on. I think that principle doesn't only apply in this business; it applies in life in general.
So in your case, see what you think will work, and try to focus on it.
Wishing you the very best!
COngratulations! This is a great transparent post. It reflects your admirable state of mind!! Keep on keeping on!!
Blessings and even more success!! 🌺
