...and so we move on.

Hopefully you have before you 3 sets of goals that have been discussed and made public or known. The lesson now is 'immediate goals and the Power Action Plan. You will need a calendar to look at for this, not necessarily your diary but you will need some date awareness.

We now need to focus on the 1 yr plan only. Put the thoughts og 5 and 10 yrs aside and FOCUS on 12 months from now.

So, in order to reach your 12-month goals you are going to need to kick start your plan in certain areas.

You may need to join a gym, open a savings account, start Bootcamp or just talk to a certain person.

A new page in your notebook, My immediate goals, in red.

You need to start with goal 1 in P and ask your self what do I need to do now or in the immediate future to get this rolling. Write down the immediate goal WITH A DATE, this is important. You now need a date, the date can be ASAP not an actual date but you need to time link this immediate action/goal and write it down.

Example

In 1 year I want my first book written in draft. My immediate goal is to figure out a writing schedule. I am going to write against this 'figure out a writing schedule for book' by 05/08/2013.

Do this with each goal. Any goal that you attach an ASAP will still need to dated at some point very soon.

You will have a list now of immediate action and dates attached to each one.

EXCELLENT.

Now go get your diary......

The Power Action Plan

The PAP is the key to the POWER system as it allows you to change, modify, add and subtract goals via a weekly monitoring system.

Please don't think, oh no tracking this every week, what a bore. Please view this as weekly attention TO YOUR LIFE and ACHIEVING YOUR DREAMS.

If a goal is boring then maybe it should not have passed the SMART test and it is not RELEVANT.

I mentioned in an earlier page 46 weeks and not 52 weeks in a year. Even I, a rigid goal setter, am going to have weeks or Sundays where I don't set a weeks goals; holidays, christmas, sickness and unexpected. I have allowed 6 times where you will miss your weekly planning. OK, you may do 40, you may do 30, you know what, you may be excellent and do monthly sessions but that's fine. Pick a time and just do it. I think weekly works best, personally.

If you have your diary in front of you then lets begin.

1) You need to pick a time of the week, it needs to be the same time and it needs to be your time. Its that time when you are working on your life. It is a time when you are secretly working on success and dreams. Your kids and spouse can be asleep. Use this as very special time to WORK ON YOU!

2) Put your dates from your immediate plan into your diary. This is the date that you want the initial goal to be achieved. Do this one at a time. Now your initial goal may still need a few first steps so after you put your goal in you may need to put in a few steps in the preceding days.

Example

I am an ex dentist so maybe my immediate goal is to get my teeth cleaned by Aug 10th and it is now Aug 2nd. In my diary I am putting 'teeth cleaned' on the date August 10. Maybe August 4th, check my schedule to see a good date. Aug 5th. call dentist to make appointment.

Maybe I need to start a savings account. I will put opened savings account August 15th. Go to bank on August 12th. Research best accounts on computer August 8th. Talk to my brother, he has a good bank account, by August 7th.

Get all these dates and tasks in the diary.

Good.....Do this with all your immediate goals and get your diary full.

Tasks 0/3 completed
1. Break each goal into smaller measurable sections
2. Write out your POWER Action plan
3. X-check PAP with your 1 yr plan

Hi MikeyB-just confused myself. Ha. It is better to start with Skyhorse's goal course, then yours, correct? Thanks a lot.

Lol yeah. We both talked about it and mine goes into the mental aspect and more on obstacles and such with your goals, then his is the goal setting. Although mine does do goal setting as well. They are a tag team event.

Mikey, you have no idea lol. But both the theory and practical experience is important. You can't have one without the other.

@Jenna, well thank you. I try to be active!

Excellent in every respect, Mike! There's a saying: "If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there." Thanks for providing both a path and a guiding light.

WOW, what a powerful course. This is what I have been in need of for the last year or so.

I have been jumping around all over the place and not accomplishing a blasted thing. So, I am bowing up and getting things organized and my goals laid out with weekly plans so that I can progress.

THANK YOU for this valuable course. God Bless you richly. :-) Jerry Mc

What is an A4 notebook?
What is a "coppers jotter" (A7 notebook)?

In the US most people are used to sizes - - an 8.5 inch X 10.0 inch notebook is most common.
Smaller sizes/measurements are available.

You will need a notebook about the size of a regular sheet of paper. A lined common notebook. A copper jotter is the small flip type pad, this is your daily notetaker and pad that is with you for notes and ideas

How can we run them through s SMART test if you want them to be vague and not specific? They will fail because, "be fit and healthy in 10 years" isn't specific. Yes it is achievable, but no its not measureable, and only the person can say if it is realistic or not.

So how many do they need to pass for the SMART test then?

They can SMART test a vague goal absolutely. The goal at 10 years is vague by design as life changes and SMART testing at 10 is a futile exercise. If 'be fit and healthy in 10 years" is not specific at 10 this is ok as it becomes more specific at 5 and 1 and immediate. Getting goals down in a form that can be realised is a first step. I would not 'specifically' know the house I want in 10 but I know I want one. The S in SMART can also be Simple. The course is an exercise in getting these goals down on paper, this alone is major for most people.

Skyhorse, I have amended the 10yr goal SMART test with an addendum to specificity, thank you.

Ok, I forget that sometimes. I have studied goal setting for several years now and even have taught workshops about it. So sometimes I forget that others don't do what I do. Thanks!!!
