I hope that I explain the process well enough so that anyone reading this can too become a master at any of the table creating plug ins they are all basically the same but some of the settings might be slightly different. For this particular training I used the TablePress Plug-in but there are a couple others that will work just a well, this plug-in has some built in features that I wanted if you look around you may find a different one that works better for you so do not think this is the only table plug in out there being offered to word press users.

I did this training slightly different from other training I wanted to show you want this plug in has to offer so that you can decide if you want to use the TablePress plug in or not. It can really make the difference in a sites viewer’s navigation if used smartly. First before showing any of the images I’d like to point out that every section of any of the tables designed by this plugin has the capability of providing a clickable link unseen by your visitors.

SHOWING THE PLUG INS ABILITIES

So let’s start with a bunch of screen shots of the different tables possible with this plugin then we’ll get to the nitty gritty of how to achieve each of them. So in this first screen shot we have a nice table with images and descriptive text under each image describing the image in better detail this would be for a full width website with no left or right side bars

Image 1

Then we have roughly the same thing but in a narrower version of only four columns wide this would allow for a right or left side bar and still ample room for the images and text underneath to fit nice a neat.

Image 2

Both of the first two tables only had a table title above it but the next couple of images shows what the same style of table would look like if will wanted to have column headers and just an image title resting above it within the table and no text under it. Again the narrower version for those that have side bars.

Image 3

I stretched out the images in this table just to show you what happens if the table becomes wider than the actually webpage note at the bottom of the table an optional slide bar appeared this allows of r greater table widths.

Image 4

In image 5 below shows you the preview mode and image 6 is from the actual view of the same table on the webpage.

Image 5

Image 6

In image 7 below shows you two different text only tables the top is without column headers the bottom is set up to see what the max amount of columns that could be created for a single table without having to utilize the slide bar option and the answer to that is 15 columns with 6 characters per column any more than that and you will have to use a slide bar to show the table completely

Image 7

Next in image 8 it shows what a normal table of contents looks like using plug ins designed to insert table of contents features in post and pages alike

Image 8

Now what a clean table of contents should look like on a web page and was created by using the TablePress plug in

Image 9

The last example shows a table designed as a table of contents you will note that there is no hyperlink underlines and the line of text you are hovering over or on will change colors (from white to a light gray) to let you know where you are at in the table at all times (but through CSS coding you could change those colors if you wanted to).

All of the tables I just showed you are capable of being made very easily with this one plug in and it’s the TablePress plug in.

In the proceeding section I will give you the instructions and description of what is happening in the image, so the instruction and image below it correspond to each other. Both are numbered accordingly to make sure you do not get confused through the middle of one of the pages.

Okay so now you have seen most of the types of table and table of contents that this plug in can make if you think this is what you want then by all means continue on to page 2 and the training on how to use the TablePress plug in.

Hey Michael,

I have heard a lot of people say that they have tried to post three picture or four pictures of a product vertically across their web page.

This would be the perfect solution to that a one rowed table with four or five pictures nice and neatly aligned vertically.

Hope its helpful,

Calvin

If you still have access to the computer after you have to log off from being online.

Why don't you make screen shots of stuff you want to read and instead of reading while online just take screen shots then read later when offline

How did you do certification with limited online time?
Just curious.

Hi Vicki,

Yes that took me a little while to get it all together! :-D

Over 7,000 words and over 65 screen shots I hope it helps all the people that have been asking about tables and table of contents.

I also hope they remember if they click on the image it will expand out into another window - maybe I should edit that in on the first page?
