Lesson 6: Update the Formatting for Your Blog Content
Review your past blog posts to ensure they are formatted in a way that caters to both search engines and human readers. Although formatting may seem insignificant, it plays an important role in facilitating the absorption of information and navigation.
To make your content more easily digestible, break it up into bite-sized paragraphs and avoid using lengthy blocks of text. Additionally, group your information into sub-sections using subheading HTML, such as H1, H2, H3 etc. This helps readers skim through the content and find relevant information while also allowing search engines to recognize the structure of your post.
Using a font style that's easy to read and large enough is also essential. Avoid using fonts that are difficult to read, such as cursive or grey font, which can cause readers to click away. It's also important to ensure hyperlinks are easily recognizable. Bold and underline them, and make sure they turn a different color when clicked. This may automatically be controlled by your theme.
When using images, use a keyword-relevant file name, and include alt tags to define the image for visually impaired and search engines. The alt tag may be a great spot for another keyword mention. Additionally, use Schema markups to help search engines better understand your content and help your blog rank higher.
Tomorrow is my planned commencement date and I'm looking forward to getting started and achieving!!
