Spam Sucks!

Spam is not only a No No here at WA but it also sucks!

When a person Spams someone they are disrespecting that person.

In my opinion Spam is anytime that a link to either a website, training, blog etc. is shared unsolicited onto someone else's post and/or profile page and even in an e-mail or private message.

In a private message the exception would be if you are Friends with that other person and genuinely need help with a question.

Here at WA it is also considered Spam if we post website links onto our own posts. Here are the official No Spam rules:

Your blog here at Wealthy Affiliate is a great spot to communicate with others in the community and let people know about your progress, your successes, and ultimately your experience as you move through the crazy and exhilarating world of online business.

On top of that it is super powerful for building relationships with others and building your network here within the community by documenting your exciting journey!

Before you blog here, we want to clarify a few things as people do get confused as to what they are allowed to blog about and what they aren't.

Here are some simple rules for blogging here at WA:

  1. Please don't spam or promote anything here at WA. That ain't cool. We are a spam free community and we want to keep this a safe place for everyone to interact and get help. Promotions are to be left for your external websites.
  2. Keep religion and politics out of your posts. Everyone comes from different walks of life and you know how fired up people can get about these topics. It is best to stay away from posts like this for the better nature of the community.Again, on your external websites is totally cool for these sorts of topics.
  3. Keep the conversation on topic. Your blog here is to share your experiences within WA and with creating your business online. Your website is for posting "niche" related content, so keep anything that is relevant to your niche there. You don't want to waste your awesome niche content by posting it somewhere other than your site.
  4. Don't copy and paste content from elsewhere. Copying content from other sources, even if it is your own, isn't of benefit to the community.
  5. Be nice, play nice. Do to others and speak to others as you would want them to speak to you. Should be easy enough right?

If you want the full "policy" spiel, you can get our formal posting rules here.

Wishing you a fun, exciting, and interactive blogging experience here at WA and we look forward to reading your posts!

Your friends,

Kyle & Carson

The above link as well as the message from Kyle and Carson were copy and pasted and should be clear and concise.

WA is a wonderful community and I would love for us all to adhere to the same rules, Spam is Spam no matter who it is.

What's your opinion of what Spam is?

Am I the only one who doesn't understand this rule. Surely we are linking to our site when we ask for feedback or comments and we are encouraged to do this

I'm on the same page as you are with this, especially since I'm at a part in the training where one of the steps is to get feedback from other WA members about your site.

We certainly are linking people to our site. Are the links only disapproved in blogs we write?

If you are specifically asking about feedback regarding something on your site, then it is fine to provide a link.

Tony is talking about people who add a link to their site at the bottom of every blog they write here at WA. While I personally do not have a problem with this (I just don't click on a link if I don't want to), it is against WA policy. I have some people do this, almost like a signature that you would see in other forums.

You also cannot PM someone with a link to your site for no good reason. If you are talking with a member about issues on your site and are looking for help, then it shouldn't be a problem.

Here is where You give and receive feedback = https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/website-feedback not via ask, chat or private message.

Here is where you give and receive comments = https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/comments not via ask, chat or private message.

Here is where you share your reviews = Within the training thread

Here is the only place that we are supposed to share our Google+ link = There are no other Social Media posts allowed - We are allowed to share our Social Media sites in the Website area below our pictures, blogs and trainings on our profile page. I've seen many posts lately that say let's connect or let's share likes with Facebook, Twitter, G+ etc. which are against the rules

I am not pointing these things out to seem above anyone else. I when I first got started here was guilty of most if not all of them.

Thank you Friends for adding any that I forgot.

Tony

I have asked for help on my site many times via blog or the ask a question feature and have provided a link to my site. Many others have done this as well. I do not see this as spam.

I was not familiar with the ability to share reviews as I haven't done the bootcamp classes. I assume this area is for those doing the bootcamp. I'm not worried about sharing my reviews with WA members though.

You are absolutely right!
Seen too much of linkings lately and not just from newcomers!

Very nice; thank you!

You are welcome Rahel, Thank you my Friend. Tony

Thanks Tony for this post. It is my belief that it is good to have reminders of important facts. Although the rules are best read when first becoming a member, they can be overlooked with the excitement of WA experiences.

Yes Valerie, I agree and that's why we all should take another look from time to time. Especially Me!

Yes, me too!

I must say that as a Newbie here, I was not aware of all the rules. Fortunately I have not posted anything yet. What's good to know that when I do post, not to place a link to my website or goods. There is much here at WA that is unclear to me, hopefully the training will help me to understand better.

Yes Naima, The training and support here with the WA Community is second to none my Friend. Welcome and please do share, Tony

Nicely said. Great reminder.

Thank you Jeremy

Excellent reminder Tom, I don't think anyone is deliberately flouting the rules, they just don't understand them, or even know they exist.

So with over 170,000 people on your network a good proportion of the community are now reminded.

Thanks Tony.
Keith

You are welcome & thank you Keith,

Yes most do abide by the rules.

I don't fault the new Friends here at WA who do not know the rules.

I have seen quite a few times that Friends who have been here a very long time and surely know the rules bend and even break them.

Luckily for us all WA is pretty good about enforcing them but it is also all of our duties as a Spam Free Community to remind each other from time to time.

Thank you Keith for viewing and commenting my Friend,

Tony

It is surprising how many people don't read. The rules are fair and they are the rules!

Yes Lynda, I agree. We all should abide by and have to follow the same rules for sure. Thank you for reading and commenting my Friend, Tony

Yes treat others as you want to be treated.

Great advice Ray, Thank You my Friend. Tony

Very well said. Conscious they don't know what that is or don't have one.

Thank You Theresa, Some are new and don't know or are unaware of the rules but some rules should be common sense.

True. Especially when it involves money they get out of people.
