Hello Everyone
I have been using Rumble for a couple weeks now and I have become quite familiar with it and the Rumble video licenses. I have had a few questions from WA members about them to so today I wanted to write this blog post to go over everything you need to know about Rumble video licenses and explain how they work.
Let's get into it
What Is Rumble?
Rumble is a video sharing platform similar to YouTube and other video sharing platforms. It is free to join from pretty much anywhere in the world and anyone is free to watch and interact with videos as well as upload your own videos.
Rumble has the most videos in categories like Sports, Gaming, Podcasts, Vlogs, Finance, News, Music, Cooking, Entertainment, Science and Technology. But you can find many other videos to meaning you can make and upload videos in any niche.
There are also some popular people on Rumble like Donald Trump Jr, Russell Brand, Power Slam and more but don't let this deter you because anyone from anywhere in the world can use Rumble and be a Rumble creator.
Rumble works similarly to YouTube with it's design and interface. It is user friendly and easy to use. It can get a bit confusing with a few things when it comes to being a creator on Rumble but if you are just going to be watching videos and interacting with them you will have no problems at all.
Your First Steps On Rumble
When you first join Rumble you will need to verify your email and phone number to get full access to everything on the platform. Before you upload your first video there is something you need to be aware of which is that you need to create your channel first.
You can upload your video without a channel and it uploads to your Rumble profile but it is better to create a channel first. I made this mistake but luckily I noticed it a short time after uploading my first video so I was able to delete it, create a channel and reupload it before it got any views.
Make sure you don't make this mistake so you won't have to waste time fixing it later. Creating a channel is quick and easy so make sure you do this before you upload your first video. You should also be aware that you will need to select your channel each time you upload a video.
You can create multiple channels like on YouTube and other video sharing platforms and you can customize each one with a profile picture and channel banner. For videos you can also upload your own custom thumbnails for each one. I use Canva to create my thumbnails and I create them just like I did for YouTube videos and it works fine on Rumble to.
Aside from uploading pre recorded videos you can also do live streaming on Rumble once you have at least 5 subscribers and you can speak a lot more freely than you can on YouTube. You still need to read and follow the rules and community guidelines but Rumble has a lot more freedom then YouTube. You will need to start with pre recorded videos though but it's not hard to build a following if you make high quality and entertaining videos.
What Is Rumble Video Licenses & How Do They Work?
Before you upload your first video to Rumble you need to be aware of the Rumble Video Licenses and how they work. Rumble has four different video licenses and they are different to YouTube and other video sharing platforms.
The Rumble video licenses can also be quite confusing so it's very important you understand them before you upload your first video.
Here is an explanation of the Rumble video licenses and how they work
Video Management The first license option is the video management option. If you choose this option you will be giving Rumble full rights to your videos and full control over them. Rumble will act as your video management agency and will own your videos.
They will post them on YouTube and any other social media platforms they wish. They can also sell your videos or parts of your videos to anyone they like. You will earn money from the ad revenue your videos earn on all the platforms that Rumble uploads them to.
You will get 90% of the YouTube ad revenue and 60% of the ad revenue your videos earn on other platforms that Rumble uploads them to. Be aware that this is a 50 year contract and it is very hard to get out of so think carefully before choosing this option.
Video Management [Excluding YouTube] The second license option is called Video Management excluding YouTube. This option works the same way as the Video Management option with the only difference being that Rumble won't upload your videos to YouTube.

But other than that it works the same as the Video Management Option. Rumble is still your video management agency and still owns your videos and has full rights and full control over them. You will earn money from the ad revenue your videos earn on all the platforms that Rumble uploads them to.
You will get 60% of the ad revenue your videos earn on the platforms that Rumble uploads them to. This is also a 50 year contract and it is also very hard to get out of so think carefully before choosing this option as well.
Rumble Only The third license option is called Rumble Only. This option works similarly to YouTube. You still own your videos and you have full rights and control over them. Rumble won't be your video management agency and your videos will only be on the Rumble platform.
You are free to upload your videos to YouTube and any other platforms you want to upload them to. You will earn money from ads that are placed on your videos like on YouTube. You will earn 40% of the ad revenue your videos earn on Rumble.
According to what I have been able to find out during research Rumble pays from 50 cents up to $10 per 1000 views. Sometimes this can be higher depending on your niche and how well your videos do. I really like this license option and it is in my option the best option to choose for your videos on Rumble.
Personal use The fourth and final license option is called Personal Use. This option is for if you only want to share your videos with subscribers or your family and friends. If you choose this option you will still have full rights and full control over your videos but your videos will only be shared with your subscribers or anyone with the links to your videos.
Your videos won't be visible to the public or be searchable on Rumble. You also won't be able to monetize your videos if you choose this option. I don't really like this option but I can see it suitable for certain uses. But if you want to reach more people and be able to monetize your videos you will need to choose a different option.
As you can see the Rumble video licenses can be confusing at first but are actually not that bad once you understand them. I recommend the third option which is the Rumble Only option because this is the on I choose and is the best option for beginners and anyone that still wants full rights and full control over their videos.
If you want to choose a different option that's fine but make sure you are sure that it's what you want because you can't change once you upload your videos. Another thing you need to be aware of is that you have to choose a video license option for every video you upload to Rumble.
One other thing worth mentioning in case you are wondering is Rumble has their own YouTube channel and many other social media pages which is where they upload and promote your videos if you choose one of the video management license options. They have a large following on these platforms your videos will reach many people.
Once again if you don't want Rumble to do this and you want full rights and full control over your videos you should choose the Rumble only license option. No matter what your needs or desires are you will find that one of the video license options will be right for you.
Rumble Video Monetization
Now that you understand the Rumble video license options you might be wondering what you need to do to get monetized. The answer depends on which video license option you choose.
If you choose the video management option or the video management excluding YouTube option you don't need to do anything as Rumble will be your video management agency and take care of everything for you.
If you choose the Rumble only license option you can get monetized straight away. Once you upload your video it will show monetization pending to start with because all videos are analyzed by Rumble to make sure they are appropriate for monetization.
Most videos are fine if you make videos that are appropriate, are not illegal and follow the Rumble guidelines you will able to get them monetized. It usually takes at least a few hours to get monetized at least with your first video.
When I uploaded my first video it took about 4 hours for my video to get approved and monetized. With my next video it got monetized within minutes which I was not expecting.
Remember if you choose the Personal Use license option you won't be able to monetize your videos so make sure to choose the Rumble only option or one of the video management options if that is what you want so you can monetize your videos. As for monetization requirements with Rumble there are none.
You don't need any subscribers or any amount of views to get monetized. You can get monetized straight away from your first video if you choose one of the license options that allow monetization as there are no monetization requirements or thresholds on Rumble.
This is something I really like about Rumble as it gives everyone a chance to get monetized straight away and you will have the potential of earning money right from your first video that you upload on Rumble. For this reason I recommend Rumble if you are struggling on YouTube or if you are looking for an easy way to monetize your videos I recommend you give Rumble a try and see how you go with the platform.
What I Like & Dislike About Rumble
During my first couple of weeks using Rumble I have come across some things I like but also some things I don't like about Rumble. None of the things i don't like will stop me from using it but I do find some things that are a bit annoying but you should be aware of them so you can decide if you want to use Rumble or not.
I like the design of Rumble and how easy it it is to use and navigate. Rumble is user friendly and has a variety of content on there. I also like how easy it is to upload videos and that you can easily monetize your videos straight away without any monetization requirements or thresholds.
But I don't like that the Rumble video license options are confusing to begin with and you have to take the time to read about them and understand them. I have also found there is no way to create playlists for your videos that you upload on Rumble and the analytics you get are very basic and should be more detailed.
I have also been having issues with my channel banners because I can't find what size will display properly and stretch across the screen. I'm going to work on this more over the coming days and see if I can find what size will display properly on my Rumble channel.
As I said earlier these things are not deal breakers for me and I will still continue using Rumble because I really like it so far other than the things I mentioned that I don't like. These are just things that would be nice to have and I find a bit annoying not to have. But hopefully one day Rumble will fix these issues and implement these features onto the platform.
It's also worth mentioning that Rumble also has a mobile app for Android and iOS but I have not tried or used the mobile app yet so I can't say anything about it. I always work from my laptop so I don't have much use the Rumble mobile app. I really like Rumble so far and I'm looking forward to seeing where it takes me in the future with my videos and my video creation journey.
Conclusion
In conclusion Rumble is a video sharing platform that allows you to watch videos and interact with them as well as upload your own videos. You can do videos in any niche and you can also do live steaming once you have at least 5 subscribers. The Rumble video licenses can be a bit confusing at first but are not that bad once you understand them.
If you are a beginner or if you want full rights and full control over your videos I recommend you choose the Rumble only option. With this option you still have full rights and control over your videos and your videos will only be on Rumble meaning you can still upload them to YouTube and anywhere else that you want to upload them.
Monetization is easy on Rumble and you can get monetization straight away right from your first video. There are no monetization requirements or thresholds on Rumble and how much you earn will depend on the video license option you choose. Aside from the few issues I have had on Rumble so far I will continue to use it as I really like the platform.
