Out of Service and Out of Luck
So like the saying goes...if it wasn't for bad luck I would have no luck at all
At least that's the way it seems lately. My internet connection has been dodgy as of late and it stopped working altogether last week. The modem usually flashes lots of little lights that are green in color but it was flashing one of them in red. It was the middle of the night and I called my ISP. I don't have internet service with "the big guys" because it's just too expensive here. So my ISP is this small company that apparently you can't call in the middle of the night if your service is wonky, you have to wait until business hours. So I wait until morning and get them on the phone and go through the hour of troubleshooting and it's determined that they will send out a technician in 2 days time. Okay no problem...except that 2 days gets real long when everything you do in a day is somehow connected to the internet.
Want to do research on your website Lori? Can't...no internet
Want to do keyword research? Can't...no internet
Want to watch tv? Can't...you've got a Roku and no internet
Want to pay your bills online?...well you get the idea
So the technician comes out and checks everything out and tells me that everything is the "line" is fine. In a way that's a relief because I live in a really old building. I was almost convinced that mice had chewed things up behind the walls or that squirrels like to sit on my internet connection wires.
But then comes the bad news...
I need to call my ISP and let them know that the service is fine with the connection so the problem must be the modem. They are sending one out and maybe it will arrive by Friday...well it didn't and I got desperate and took the kids to McDonald's for the free wifi but that darned thing wasn't working there either!
So we as a family spent the week with no internet:
playing with the baby to the point where even he was annoyed by it I'm sure...
watching the same 3 dvd's we have over and over again...
reading things the old-fashioned way from actual books...
and looking at each other...
But then today came and the mailman brought the new modem. I was so excited to see the box in the mailman's hands that I nearly kissed him before slamming the door in his face...just kidding he was already running away after practically throwing the box at me. I must have looked a little crazy or something ha ha...
So anywho...so I get the modem out of the box and set up. Everything is looking good. Open up my homepage and things are looking good. I hook up my cell phone to the modem through wifi and watch the 1 million emails I've missed this past week start pouring in...
Yes today is a good day! I'm giving 3 cheers for modern technology and how happy I am to have it back as I head over to Wealthy Affiliate and log in. Just gonna click on my profile and....
Power failure...yup you read that right...power failure really? Seriously?
So I go out into the hall and see that it's the whole building that's out and not just my fancy new modem blowing a fuse in my apartment. So I wait 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes and then I call hydro. There's an equipment failure in my neighborhood and the estimated wait time for service to be restored is 2 hours.
So we went back to:
playing with the baby to the point where even he was annoyed by it I'm sure...
reading things the old-fashioned way from actual books...
and looking at each other...
Until the power was finally restored and here I am! Woot!
Remember what I wrote as my opening line? If it wasn't for bad luck I would have no luck at all? It definitely has been that kind of a week but it's good to be back. I've lost some time and some traction this past week but not the burning desire to become successful online. So I've got some catching up to do this week as I have missed a lot, but it's good to be back not only online but also here at Wealthy Affiliate :)
Keep staying true to yourselves and to your dreams Lovelies :)
I am catching up...and kicking butt!!

Hi aka Lori,
So how many bottles of bourbon did you down this week and what radio station did you submit this piece to.( Bad English with that preposition thingy). You have got to post this on your w/s as a humor piece. Almost fell out of my chair and the dogs are looking at me like I'm nuts. Hope nothing has gone to hell. If it has, you can create some fine content with it. My best.....Dick
Hey Dick,
Bourbon? Nah...my drink of choice during stressful times is ginger ale. So I had me lots of that this past week while I stressed. But the sky didn't fall and we got through it and on a side note my apartment has never been cleaner. As a matter of fact my kids have have never been cleaner either lol.
Oh internet you truly are "the one ring to rule them all"
Thanks for reading Dick and I'm saddened that your dogs don't find me funny lol :)
Wow I'm glad you made it back Lori. i didn't see any blogs as you are timely and thought you either got a job or had tech problems. I'm happy it is resolved and I bet the kids are too::))
Marty
The job is still "coming soon" but hopefully the tech problems are sorted out. Now it's time to get back to "work". And it's nice not to have to listen to the teenager sighing in boredom in the background while I dig in. Thanks for your concern Marty :)

Good things always come out of bad Lori. Maybe you should keep a spare moden on hand. Just I case..................
My ISP forces its customers to use their modem only...garbage policy if you ask me
