Variations of Keyword Ranking #1 on Search Engines

I just wrote a post here and accidentally deleted it so this will be the shortened version! I posted yesterday that my new post was ranked#2 on Bing. Then I decided to search for variations on that long tail keyword and see how they rank.

I found that my post was actually ranked #1 on Bing and Yahoo for a variation on the long tail keyword. The keyword I used is "Jackson Galaxy Safe Space For Cats Drops" which is the brand and name of a product. When I search for "Jackson Galaxy Safe Space For Cats", "Jackson Galaxy Safe Space", "Safe Space For Cats Drops", "Safe Space For Cats", "Jackson Galaxy Cats Drops" etc. I find that many of these terms rank on the first page of the search engines. For some of these I rank #1 on Bing and Yahoo. For many of these terms I have two posts in the first page of search results.

I want to make sure I remind everyone especially the new members that we may be ranking for keywords and not even know it!

You can use Jaaxy to easily check how these variations rank.

Onward and Upward!

More great info and thank you -- your advice to me about keywords and long-tail keywords has been spot-on. Thank you for that...!

You are welcome! Thanks Amy!

Good to learn that. Thanks.

You are welcome.

Thanks for your time...and help.

You are very welcome.

Thanks for sharing, Jessica.

No problem Roger.

Happy for you Jessica. You'll have to rename yourself "Stargirl" now!

Ha ha! Thanks Goran!

Hi, Jessica. Can you find the rankings on the variations without upgrading?

Yes, just type each one in and search. I have not upgraded.

It only shows up if you're ranked on page 1.

Thanks for the info, Jessica. Do you type in the name of the post or the website?

Both. There is a field for each.

Good to know. Thanks. Carol

Oh interesting. Not there yet.

Don't give up. It takes time.

Thanks for the encouragement. I will never give up.

Jessica, now that's what I call awesome!
Congrats!

Thanks Louisa!

Hey Jessica, your number 1 ranking on variations of these keywords is GREAT. Nicely done! That said, please don't take this the wrong way, I don't mean to be a downer here, just want show you what I mean by example.

However, I have the same problem as you do, even though variations of my keywords for my music site ob Google and Bing all rank #1.

My music site ranks # 1 for keywords "Kaju's Off the Hook", "Off the Hook band", "Off the Hook Kaju", "NYC Most Exciting Party Band". There are more but I can't think of them right now.

The problem is that although all those variations Rank #1, no one is searching for my site using any of those keywords unless they already are familiar with my name "Kaju" or my brand "Off the Hook" in combination with my name. Although those keywords are all low competition with QSR

I totally understand what you are saying. That is why I waited so long to do a post with this title. However, it is a good example of the benefits of lower competition keywords.

I am getting direct searches for similar product keywords however such as Solid Gold Indigo Moon...this is a brand and variety of cat food and people search for that and find my posts...and buy the cat food.

I just need to be adding content more consistently so it is better to get content added than not. Some of these post might not get as much traffic at first but the way this is going I will rank well just for "Jackson Galaxy" or "Jackson Galaxy Cat"...that would be a gold mine since he is the cat version of the dog whisperer. Tons of people search for him for solutions to cat problems. This is probably going to be a successful post I think.

I agree in general with what you are saying but this one will be an exception I think.

Thanks!
J.

Great to heat that, fantastic! Thanks Jessica!

No problem. I avoided lower search keywords all this time. I was really picky about keywords but I realized my rankings were suffering due to lack of content.

Thanks Jessica!

Wayne

No problem!
