Afternoon in the Gorgeous Mountains, pics part 1.
We finally got out of town for an afternoon to a place I have been dreaming about. It is called Hatcher Pass and it is a few hours north of town. The summit is over 3,800 ft (that is the highest point of the highway but surrounded by mountains that are higher) and most of the pass is above tree line. I had only been there once about 4 years ago. Here are some pictures. We saw a marmot and a golden eagle soaring by the cliffs! We also saw 10 paragliders and watched them taking off, landing and soaring between mountain ridges.
I will post this in two parts though I compressed the photos so they should still work.
I used the middle picture above in a new Tweet promoting WA. It was quite popular and gained me a new follower whom is a business blogger with over 150,000 followers!

Good Morning Jessica,
These are those place where you can let your soul dangle, do not know if you have that saying. That spot looks absolutely beautiful good for recharging batteries. Hope you and your husband are doing well.
Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske
Love the pics, Jessica. Plan to be in the wilderness sometime this fall for some rest and relaxation.

great pics, yes these are the type of pic that is on my desktop. Places I dream of going on day soon!
We get so busy with regular life (job, chores, cleaning, bills, money worries, etc) that we don't take advantage of our location enough.
We recently moved about 20 miles away so we are no longer in the city itself. The drive is now easier to get to these locations to the north...of course it is farther to get to the south. There are very few highways in Alaska so when you are in the city of Anchorage you can only go north or south...one road each way and that is it. Otherwise you would have to go by plane.
My husband and I both grew up in remote parts of the state where our parents (who were pilots) flew in and there are no roads. I miss it so much!
Wow! Lovely.
That's the kind of place that I could spend an afternoon just staring off into the distance, thinking about nothing.
Yes, I know!!! I wish we had more time. My husband gets a bit antsy and wants to move. I want to just sit there. He is trying hard to humor me and help me get out more though.
