Hello WA friends, I'm not too familiar with the block editor. I generally use Elementor. What is the easiest/best way to change the font size of one or two words, not an entire

Hey Randy,

Have you tried this video instructions yet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTwjntRI-3U

I found that searching your question on DuckDuckGo... see screen print below...

Hope you find this helpful.

I didn't specify what I was looking for very well. I'm pretty good with Elementor. I wanted to know if there was a way in the block editor to change the font of just one word.

I decided to edit the words in question with HTML. It works well, I thought there might be an easier way.

Thank you for your response.

Randy

While there are ways to do this, I always advise that simpler is better. Personally, I'd go with bold or italic or both.

Thank you, Eric. That would be much easier, but I'm looking at the subscript size but inline; if that makes sense.

Randy

Is it the first word of the paragraph?

Most times it's at the end, but some are in the middle. I'm referencing a verse translation and would like that to be smaller.

The reason I’m asking is that a lot of of these block editors allow you to make the first word of a paragraph larger. If it’s in the middle of a paragraph, I would either go with what Eric said or create a special HTML spam that increases the font size by some amount. Frankly, it may look really strange to have a word in the middle of a paragraph that is a lot larger. I would rather go with something like Eric suggested with bold.

If you're referencing a verse in the middle of the paragraph and you want that verse text to be different then your best bet is to make it its own paragraph and either change its size or you can use the quote block or verse block as well.

But if you're wanting to keep it all in the same paragraph the most common, universal way for doing this is to italicize it.

I have some verses in separate paragraphs, but I would like the 3-4 letter reference at the end of the paragraph to be a smaller font, if possible. If that's not possible with the block editor, I may consider running my post through Elementor.

I think I'll use HTML code. It may get a little too tedious to enter it 25 times or so per post.

(ABC)

Thanks again for your help.

Randy

What I am thinking is to use some tag you're not using for something else and customize it. Small is a good one

Michael

Are you talking about subscript or superscript like you see in footnotes? That's an easy option with the block editor. You put the cursor immediately after the word where you want the superscript footnote number. When you click "footnote" it will automatically put the number in that spot and it will take you to the bottom of the page where you make the annotation or credit. If you have multiple footnotes you just do it multiple times and it will number the footnotes accordingly. The footnotes option is under the "more settings" which is under the downward pointing carat in the paragraph block.

That is, if that's what you're even asking about. If not, I gotta admit I have no idea what you're wanting to do here, lol.

Thank you for the quick response. I need to change the size of a word in the block editor. I'm familiar with how this works in Elementor.

I generally work with the Elementor page builder, but I'm giving Gutenberg a try this time around. How can I add a line or space between bullet points? Within the block, I know

I click Edit as HTML and add at the end of each bullet point. The result looks like this (attachment)

i do have one plugin that is allowing me to add padding and margin to most of the blocks but am trying to work out which one it is....
i have several that are editor extensions...
twentig, advanced editor tools, ghostkit, spectra, ultimate blocks, unlimited blocks and wpmastertoolkit....
yes there are a load of plugins, but pagespeed is still in the 90's for both mobile and desktop....
so it should be one of those....and you can get to spacing and add padding...
coming up in later wordpress releases you wil lget ot add css easily to modify your site settings...
it's not twentig as these have tw next to them...

update - it's ghostkit that adds the extra fields...

Awesome! I appreciate your insights. I will check it out.

Thank you!
Randy

Hold down SHIFT on your keyboard, and then press ENTER. That will create a hard break in between the bullet points.

Hope this helps you out here.:)

Good afternoon, Kyle. I've tried that, but for some reason, I have to hit enter twice for it to work. The problem is that it's double-spaced at that point. Not sure what the deal is.

Is there a recommended HTML code to add space between the bullet points?

Thank You!
Randy

When you’re in the list block, type your bullet point and then hit enter and it takes you to the next bullet. Hitting enter twice gets you out of the block and into a new paragraph. There’s no need for any extra spacing in between bullet points.

Yeah, I was looking for a little more space between them. No so much as an entire line between them.

Thank you!

I used a Site Kit to build this website and deleted their images. How do I remove them from the database? Is there a free plugin? Any information is appreciated.

Thank yo

Ouch...

Some of the images are in THEIR database...

Best is to save the image to your device (if not copyright protected) and replace their image with your downloaded one.... (or replace it with another image).

For free images, go to the WA content creator (publish in top menu here) and lmake a page with free images.... publish it on your site (make it draft there) and you have a bunch of images that you can use - related to your topic.

Fleeky

Thanks for the response. I apologize, I didn’t make myself too clear. The photos appear to be in my websites database and was looking for a free plugin to clean it up. I know there are paid versions out there.

Thanks again,
Randy

Hi Randy,

Ok.... that clarifies indeed, thank you for sharing

I use the wp rocket plugin for clearing my database. You will have to ask site support to set it for you...

Tried many other plugins, this one stands out...

Hope this helps

Fleeky

Yeah, I have WP Rocket on a couple sites. Forgot about that one. I’ll have to see if I have more sites I can add. Thanks for the reminder.

I used Site Kit to build my most recent website and deleted their images. What is the best way to clean and remove these images from the database? Any insights are appreciated.

I'll check with support. I know some paid plugins will clean up the directory, but I was hoping for a free version. Thanks for your response.

Randy

You could contact site support and ask to clear your cache

I have a couple of customer websites using WPForms Lite with Recaptcha. The websites are still receiving spam, mostly from SEO-type sales pitches. It's my understanding that

It has not been figured out properly.

You may try this
https://wordpress.org/plugins/honeypot/

Thank you, Abie. I'll have to look into this. I'm pretty sure I have honeypot ticked within the WPForms lite. WP Armour must be something different than the honeypot I have.

I appreciate your insights, have a blessed journey!

Hey Randy,

Having suffered from the same abuse, I installed a plugin that has decreased the amount of spammers getting through. See screen print below...

No plugin can stop it 100%, but this plugin has done the BEST job for me of ANY other plugin that I've tried.

2 of my sites that use this one, I don't even have a CAPTCHA plugin installed... don't need it.

Hope you find this helpful.

Thank you, Triblu. I'll look into Hivemind. Using the basic Elementor page builder with WPForms lite seems to be the issue. Other websites I have using Elementor Pro and the pro-form with Recaptcha do not have the same spam issues.

I have additional Elementor Pro activations available, so I'll more than likely install the pro version on the websites in question.

I appreciate your insights, Have a blessed journey!

Randy

I have the same problem, so I use Anti Spam Bee and notice they stopped. I removed the WPForm Recaptcha plugin because I was always getting spam. It doesn't help. I know it is annoying to get those spam ads. I got them all the time. Now they stopped. That may help. Let's see what others share that works.

Thank you, Brenda. I have some customer websites that use Elementor Pro and when using the pro form, I have little to no issues. The websites in question use the basic Elementor page builder with WPForms lite.

I'll look into the Anti Spam Bee plugin but prefer not to use too many plugins. It's my understanding that WPForms Pro addresses this issue but rather than spend more dollars, I have additional Elementor Pro activations I can use.

I appreciate your insights, Have a blessed journey!
