I have published a blog post and after all my seo efforts and posting on various social media, getting quite a few shares etc im sitting on page 6 for my keyword which is good.

Thanks for the help guys

From what I can gather. The main thing is having the keyword in your page title so it appears in the URL. Next have the keyword phrase appear in the first paragraph. After that just write as you would normally. You do need to write ate least 750-1000 and more words where required (if you are up against other big sites). Also make sure your all in one SEO pack Wordpress plugin is activated. If unsure watch the SEO training again. The other big thing is your keyword research. What is your competition level?? Lastly as said in other comments if your site is new and has few pages, writing more posts starts to give your site more authority in google's eyes so the ranking will climb more. I think also don't get bogged down on one page ( as I am doing at the moment ;-). Just get the basics right and keep writing new posts based around well researched keywords. Hope that helps.

As you continue to post and build your authority site you will most likely see it climb!

It slowly works its way up. It all depends on how old the post is, exactly which keywords you are ranking for, and the trust that the search engines have on your site. Relatively new sites need to have some time before the search engines trust them enough to display their content above older sites. It also depends on your competition. But hey, ranking on the sixth page is better than not ranking at all!

Hang in there, it will rank higher!
Diana

I agree with dlibreros, Keep creating and publishing posts, use any marketing method, Google crawlers will visit your site, rank it and go, try to create consistent activity in order to force crawlers back to your site, but 6th rank is superb. work on your site to rank that level

Best Electric Guitars - For Beginners

Is my keyword 'best electric guitars' or is it the whole phrase?

Thanks

That is a hyphen, not a dash. The search engine ignores hyphens and dashes, so that's no problem.

But why break up that keyword? It is better in this case to have one complete phrase, as your target audience are folks looking for guitars for beginners.

If you want to break a title, use it to leverage your branding (e.g. your domain), or to place a call for action (e.g. Find Them Here). Make sure the title does not exceed the allowed pixel length.

~Jude

Thanks a lot that makes more sense now

From what I have read in the past Google does not factor in the hyphen and it is ranked for the whole phrase, and when I run it through Jaaxy it drops the hyphen and by the way it ranks Very Well!

Thanks very much for your help I understand it now. Cheers

You're welcome! :)

You can easily test it in Keyword Tool. There is difference.

Yeah I uaes jaxxy thanks for your help

using images on pinterest is legal, right?

I use Pinterest images all the time, you do have to trace the source of the image but most blog articles nowadays use this as a way of getting you to back link to their site. It can be a win win they get the link and you get access to the image.

Thanks for the advice Marie :)

Unless something is designated shareware, I would be cautious about using it without permission. No one may care when you only have a few visitors to your site, but if it becomes a huge moneymaker, original authors will come out of the woodwork. The best move is to create your own, if you have the talent.

In a word...no. Many of those images are copyrighted. If you use one of those images you must look up the original source and get permission or pay to them. The blogger that used the image probably had to do that and you would too.

If you have your own pinterest account then you can but it is true beware of copyright issues if using other peoples images, search on line for free stock photos you will get enough images there

You cannot just copy other people's images from pinterest or anywhere.
There are sites where you find free pics. Each comes with the conditions for using it.
I found this article very helpful.

Yeah I know that you cant copy from anywhere but if people are pinning the images does that mean there are no copyright restrictions on those particular ones? Thanks for the link :) Steven

No, it does not mean that. Never rely on the fact that someone pins or posts an image as the source for whether that image is copyright free. ~Jude

if I dont specifically target a keyword, am I still trying to rank for that page/post?

It is in ranking that you get your visitors!

every post you do is on the internet lurking as content...so some search engines will pick it up or not and accordingly rank them. So you should invest some time researching good keywords before actually writing your post. This way you ensure every post will rank well. Since you are working on your site which is like your own business, it makes sense to invest time researching good keywords so you get good ROI in terms of traffic, and hopefully sales!

Yes Siddharth that is true, thanks for the reply

I spend a while looking for a strong keyword for my chosen post then write it as normal. Traffic is trickling in for me but i only have 11 posts. Some are ranked page 1 some are ranked page 8, 9 etc but each one has a good keyword and content.

Cheers Vicky

Good advice cheers guys :)

I do a lot of posts that don't target a specific keyword and some rank and some don't.

I'd be nice for all of our posts to rank but unfortunately that is not the case.

Looking at my Webmaster tools there are some posts which aren't even indexed yet.

Just keep pumping out content and you will eventually start getting rankings and traffic.

All the best.

Chris Lee

Well, the general idea is to grab traffic. Traffic will come if people are searching for whatever you Blog. More traffic = better chances of making money. SO YES! EVERY POST...EVERY TIME...SHOOT FOR PAGE 1.
