I LOVE the Comments I get on my website articles
I just wanted to let everyone know that I LOVE the comments that I have been able to get on my website posts that have come through using the request site comment features. To each of you that have left comments, thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
I see so many blogs where people have complained about the quailty of comments that they are getting. Yet, my experience has been completely the opposite. Over the last couple of weeks, I have requested comments on 4 or 5 occassions. I have requested comments on both my real estate website and my small business website. I am losing count.
So, I wanted to take a moment to share the postive.
Admittedly, I do try to request comments only on articles that the average commenter should be able to relate to. I have requested comments on both my real estate website and my small business website.
Common sense tells me that if I were to request comments on a blog post talking about how much 5 acre lots in El Paso County, Colorado or selling for - I probably would not get very valuable feedback since my potential readers live all over the world. That is ok. Even if I posted the same article to a US real estate agent blog network, I got any comments they would be like, "Hi Sondra. Sounds like your market is good."
Kyle & Carson, thank you for creating a way for us to easily be able to get comments on our blog posts. It is great that we have so many people trying to give comments, that we are also receiving more than we request.

ps My Wealty Affiliate ranking speedometer that I talked about in my last post is telling me I should be slowing down right now. Yet I thought it was important to let people know that the site comment feature can be GREAT.

I have had the same experience! I've had to disapprove only 2 comments because they were all feedback out of the many, many I've received.

Even though you had to disapprove the feedback ones, I hope you were able to get some personal value out of them.
I have been fortunate that the one that I had that had some site feedback in it also had a good comment included. As I told someone else below, I deleted the feedback part but still thanked them for it. To the casual reader, it appeared they contacted me privately.

I am still smiling about the great comments that I approved about 3 hours ago. The ones from the past just give me warm fuzzies... I sincerely appreciate the time that people have taken to actually read my posts and leave good comments.
The comment feature is huge asset to ALL WA’ers. The fact that amongst this family of bloggers are a wide variety of skills, backgrounds and interest.

As well as issues which have been discussed, I think, as you say, topic plays an important part. The more people understand and can relate to it, the more likely you are to get a good comment. There are a lot of great commentsrs out there and it's so good to hear of your success.

Thanks Ian! I truly believe that the vast majority of people try to leave good comments. After all, it takes time to read and comment on posts.
It is not like anyone is getting rich off of leaving comments. Some topics are easier to comment on.
My experience has been that some people are better at writing engaging content also. Those people make it easier to leave comments for also.

Hi Sondra - I agree, my comments have been lovely and appreciative. However, literally, as I type this, somebody in live chat is complaining that they have had to disapprove five out of six comments they recently received.
I always make a point of ensuring I know the subject before commenting, but I fear that some people will comment on anything, and get out of their depth, or leave something irrelevant just to get their $0.50.

I agree. Some posts are much easier to comment on than others. More than once I have been required to do a bit of research about a topic so that I could figure out how to leave a relevant comment.

One more thought.... part of why I decided to write this post is that people do not think anything about complaining. Yet, people that are happy tend to forget to share their happiness.
So, it might appear there are more unhappy people or problems vs happy when it is really the opposite.
I've gotten literally hundreds of comments using the system and have never seen the kind of poor quality that would make me disapprove 5 out of 6 comments. I certainly haven't seen their comments, but I do have to wonder if the problem is all with the comments being bad or whether the person really has realistic standards.
I've seen people discussing comments before with one person saying that if she's paying for them, she had better get at least 3 or 4 paragraphs and not just the minimum few lines.
It's good to know that others are having the same experience that I have had with the Site Comments system!
You've made a really good point here about the possibility of unrealistic standards.
For a while, when I saw negative posts, I tried to encourage people to look at the kind of comments that come in organically on some of the super successful people's blogs. Those comments can be all over the place. Very seldom do I see super long comments.
So to me, that would not look natural.
