Just to Warn You: No Laptops Were Harmed During The Making of This Blog

Now I don't suppose what I say here will mean alot to most of you, but believe me when I say this that doing this made me so proud that I waited until my wife got home from work to even touch my laptop myself.

For those that know me already then you might be either amazed or shocked by what I am about to say, but for those that don't know me then I suggest that you get used to the annoying posts, questions, and blogs that I write here.lol

Like I said, I am really proud of doing this and I can imagine that most, if not all, are thinking to yourselves as you read this "I do this regularly, Why are you getting excited about it?"

Well let me tell you...

For the last 3 weeks the number 5, 6, 7, & 8 button on my laptop has not been working so it left me with a few problems to say the least.

Now the Neanderthal hands that I used to have from working in construction as a Scaffolder for the last 20 years, actually stripped my laptop apart ( bearing in mind I could barely USE the computer before I got here let alone be man enough to open one up to see what was inside)

That's correct! I actually took my laptop apart myself (because I couldnt afford another one at the moment) and found out what was wrong with the buttons nt working!

I Mean...

The only buttons that have broken on me before are the packet of chocolate buttons that I dropped a few years ago!

I opened up the laptop, I took each and every button off the Keyboard and cleaned it.

I took the Flux Capasitor off and gave it a good clean also but I am still waiting to see if that works while it dries.

I will let you know if it works.....Last Week! ;)

Like I said, If it wasnt for this place I would have never thought that I would be confident enough to open up a bit of technology just to see if it will work when I give it a bit of a clean and to tighten a few screws.

This might not mean a lot to many of you, but to me it is progress and I am so happy that these old working hands are now awesome at something else other than manual labour!

My Laptop works...

I dont have to pay for a new one...

And...

I also warned you that I would be posting annoying post's and blogs, Didn't I?

So seeing as my new job is working with computers, etc

That Is How My Old Working Hands Saved My New Job.

Thanks for listening, (not that you had a choice, lol)

How awesome that you fixed it Matthew. I'd never be brave enough to take apart my laptop
~Shell

It was nerve-wracking to say the least, lol :)

Heroic deeds on your part, Matthew...You should be proud of yourself.:)))

Oh I am :) and thanks.

Many of us still remember that time when we didn't know where that big damned button was to turn it on...lol :))

You are certainly braver than I would be! But I guess as my grandma used to say... 'when needs must'. I never understood that as a child, but as an adult with dwindling resources it could have been a phrase to live by! Really well done, onwards and upwards, Sue :)

Wise words, thanks :)

We have about the same in Russian, Sue:"The eyes are scared, but the hands are doing.":)

That I can relate to. So many times in my life this has been the case, but always onwards and upwards, never give up! :)

Great attitude, Sue.:))

Haha... meet you there! Have a great weekend folks, Sue :)

:)

Good for you and very brave. I’m often frustrated with my slow laptop but luckily am able to work mostly from my iPad. Apple seriously need to up their game though as there are just some things you cannot do on it.
I’m surprised my laptop is still living as I have often wanted to just throw it out of the window.
Good for you for taking a more measured response... lol
With Grace and Gratitude

Normally I would have done the same but then I wouldn't have anything to work on so I just had to get on with it :)

It is only in the last few years that I have had a laptop at all, I have always used a desktop PC.

My laptop is now used only when I go away and I find it to be a pain in the a%*e but I now use a wireless mouse and keyboard.

Everything I have owned (computers I mean) I have pulled apart, fixed, put back together with no parts left over.

I started on the laptop simply to say I have done it ... I stopped after about 10 minutes because it was not going to be a straight forward job.

To this day my laptop remains my only computer device that has not been pulled apart!

Long story, but I just wanted to explain, that you have done a brilliant job!

Thanks, I admire anyone that can rip a computer apart and put the whole thing back together again. Thanks for your comment :)

That's great Matthew.
Glad for you.
There is a virtual keyboard you can use if a few keys are not working. Just go to your start menu button or use the search in your taskbar and type onscreen keyboard.

David

Thanks David I will look into that, Cheers :)

Congrats! You are a riot, man! Love your stuff.

Haha, thanks :)

Great job! I would never have the courage to open up my computer.

I was nervous at first :)

You did good!

Thanks :)

Hahaha Great job!!! And Great Post!!!

Tried and true

Elaine

Thank you :)
