The problem entering the world of WA...

So I have been with Wealthy Affiliate for almost a year and a half now. I started off guns blazing, got super distracted along the way... tried several different niches and website names.

But the biggest problem that I have had is being consistent.

Since I started in June last year (2015), I have probably only spent 3 or 4 months realistically focused on producing content for my websites. Why?

Well, I have keyword research, enough to build 8 successful websites of over 100 post each... I have 'pretty' websites as I spent a lot of time worrying obout how it looks, instead of producing content.... It's just more interesting to me than writing.

My ADHD/ ADD often leaves me getting distracted, like with my keyword research. This is my challenge and something that I need to work on.

Personal issues, financial issues, you know... All the normal excuses that we find NOT to achieve our goals and dreams...

Anyway...

What has Wealthy Affiliate done for me?

My websites;

Well, my two websites are producing more than just a couple $100's a month... Not quite where I want to be, but considering I have not really done anything since May this year and I am still running at a decent profit.... I am extremely happy with this progress so far.

My life:

haha... This is an interesting one... It has been a very interesting and challenging few years from a personal point of view for me. Wealthy Affiliate has kept me learning and growing daily (Even if it has been at a snails pace in my opinion ;) .

I was able to (temporarily) quit my job and relocate home... Something that I have been wanting to do for almost 8 years now. This is only because I could fund this temporarily from the earnings I have made from my websites.... All thanks to Wealthy Affiliate.

My job:

I come from a mechanical/ electronic background... Never really focused on websites or anything like this prior to WA. After finding WA, I realized that I absolutely love the SEO and design aspects of the digital world. So...

After relocating home, I set off to find a job in a field that I have never been involved in outside of WA... Website administration and design.

Guess what...

In the last 3 weeks, I have turned down 3 job offers (I am confident enough to do this, because I have my current websites as backup for the time being.)

I then accepted the last offer, a Junior Website Administrator, with more than double the salary that they had originally budgeted for. Plus, the company will be further training me on website design / development.

So why am I telling you this?

Well, I covered a lot of this in an earlier post: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/marcparsons/blog/i...

What you learn here at Wealthy Affiliate is not just "a quick attempt to get rich"... It is life skills and education that you can use in the real world. Not only in your own business, but in a field that is of relevantly high demand.

Wealthy Affiliate is not just teaching you what you would learn at a 'real' university, but giving you a critical aspect that most people only achieve many years after leaving University...

Practical experience... Practical experience and life skills that will put you miles ahead of the average graduate that has spent 4 years studying and now needs to go out and get experience in the field.

Be it;

  • web design,
  • content marketing,
  • website administration,
  • Search Engine Optimization,
  • Video marketing,
  • Social Media Marketing,
  • Pay Per Click campaigns,
  • Got more, let me know in the comments at the end? ;)

Practical experience is what make companies money, you already have results, so all you need to do now is improve on them. Take it to the next level.

So why am I writing this?

The problem with WA is you ;) Wealthy Affiliate works, this has been proven time and time again...

Life often throws us curve balls though. It is how you deal with these curve balls and how you utilize the opportunity that you have in front of you that will determine your future... NOT the problem itself...

So if you are hesitant about joining Wealthy Affiliate, Not sure if this is the journey for you or worried that you will just be wasting your time at another attempt to make money online...

Remember one thing...

NO ONE can take away what you learn during your time in the WA community... It will benefit you in years to come

Well, two things...

Consistency is key... No matter your current situation, no matter the challenges you are faced with. Find a way to put yourself in a stable environment, set your goals and do what ever it takes to consistently work towards them... Chipping away at your goals piece for piece is the only real way to get to them.

On a side note, I have found that my websites make the most money, ONLY when I am producing content consistently.

Anyway, thought I would get this off of my mind. I hope that it broadens your view of what you are potentially learning here at Wealth Affiliate.

Cheers,

-Marc Parsons

Fantastic, and you deserve a big congrats for making it work.
You have a great day and great success.

Some great points Marc, WA has certainly opened my eyes to the vast amount of opportunities that we learn here.

I have only gone half way through the Bootcamp I have realised that with my expertise in building there are many ways in which I can help folks, and have now deided to follow this path.

I sometimes feel from reading your post that I may have an undianosed case of ADHD as I find it extremely difficult to hold my concentration when writing out posts or reviews. Something I need to work on.

Thanks for the info.

Hey Tommy

There are some great niches in the building industry. I was also looking into the 'rank and rent' seo method of earning an income in the industry as there is loads of opportunity for this as well. Unfortunately my time is quite limited for now, so I will have to wait a while before I do this.

I really battle myself when it comes to writing reviews and have loads of posts half written that I simply lost interest in... It can be a challenge, but I am just going to have to find a different approach.

Kyle has a great speed writing training which did help. May be worthwhile looking at if you enjoy a challenge.

Cheers Marc. I had a go at the speed writing test and managed about 400 and something words. I can see how it gets you writing instead of reading through it every sentence and then editing.

All the best and to our success

Great post. Thanks for sharing.

Right on Marc. Congrats on landing that job. Very cool.

Interesting review of your time so far. Some great insights for us to consider as we journey through the year. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for this post Marc! I am now in the process of job hunting and I only just realised the other day that actually I have learnt new skills here that could open up a new career for me (or at least new roles that I could apply for) and this post has helped me understand what I could be searching for now. I too love website design and am looking forward to exploring options with that. Thank you.

Sounds great Andrea.

Wishing you all of the best. Keep us updated with your search.

Thanks for the inspiring post Marc. I have a somewhat similar experience in the term of my career advancement. I came from finance/accounting background but I decided to 'lower' my career to choose digital marketing job.

Some people see this as a 'terrible choice', but I know what I need to do. Both WA and my job give me so much digital marketing knowledge to achieve success in this world. I never regret my decision and honestly, I feel I'm in a right way.

Wish you to be successful :)

Cheers,
Ferdinand

Hey Ferdinand

I agree with you 100%. One of the biggest things WA helped me to realize is that if you are not enjoying what you are doing, then you are essentially wasting your time.

I have taking some major drops to my salary over the last 2 years, but it has all been worth it and is all starting to fall into place now.

Keep up the awesome work!

Awesome post Marc, truth be told we are in a big club, thank you.

You make really valid points Marc, and thank you for sharing them :)

Wonderful post, thanks for sharing.
