Comments Vs Feedback

Dear WA Community,

We all know that Kyle has a pay it forward program that is very helpful in us helping other members succeed and grow both in giving and receiving comments or feedback.

Lately, I have requested comments on my website and I have been getting a lot of feedback as comments. So I thought I would take a minute to talk about the difference between comments and feedback.

Feedback is for us to be open and candid to leave honest and helpful notes and topics that we believe that could help that person in bettering their website.

Comments on the other hand are for us to read the content on their website then leave a value added comment to aid that website's engagement but is supposed to be related to the content on the website, this helps the person drive their website by having helpful comment for other readers to see and know that this is a trusted site.

Neither a comment or feedback is a required piece of the WA activity so if you do not have an interest then you do not have to leave feedback or a comment, just skip to the next one.

I know we have all made the mistake of leaving feedback where a comment was supposed to be and this is why I felt the need to talk about this.

We all put a lot of time in our websites and also with helping others so it is very important to help the newer members to know the difference between comments and feedback.

Again, this is a hard topic to talk about because in both comments and feedback it is very much helpful to each and everyone of us but knowing the difference and helping others know the difference only helps all of us grow to be better.

I hope that everyone had a great Christmas and are having happy holidays.

Thank you for your time,

Shane

A simple way to remember it is that when we give Feedback we always do so here at WA inside the community in the website feedback thread. The goal is to make suggestions for improving the website design, or quality of the content, as a positive form of criticism. We all want to improve!

FEEDBACK - posted here in the community.

A comment is always posted on a website and as you say, Shane, should be limited to discussing the subject matter of the post, asking questions about the product or service, or relating one's own experience in relation to the topic.

COMMENT - posted on a person's website but must be about the subject discussed in the post and not a critique of the website.

Hi Shane and this is an ongoing battle!!!
People just cannot seem to understand the difference!!!

Thank you

IT IS AN UPHILL STRUGGLE

Great Post .. This is an ongoing issue. Cheers, William.

Thank you

Hi Shane, Very good point! Awesome training! Thank you for sharing! Happy holidays!

Thank you

It's important to clarify about this because many people confuse the two. Personally I only learned about it recently.

Yes, we all have done this before. It is easy to get mixed up in the beginning.

Agreed! I made a post about this too, got too much feedback vs comments

This has been defined hundreds of times but not everyone "gets it" It is defined in many ways in the forum in the header with the magnifying glass!

I agree, I thought if we continue the visual of this topic then the new users that are part of our network can see the difference. With all the new users, it is a common mistake so understandable but does need to be talked about.

Thanks

Yes, this is a popular blog topic, but it seems like we're still not reaching everyone. Thanks for boosting the signal.
