I'm looking for a staging area for my new website before I publish it and go live.
Thanks everyone. I'm probably just better off starting with Site Rubix then transferring to my domain. I think asking site support for a staging area would apply if I already had a website created and wanted them to create a copy onto a staging area to play around with. At least that's my take on things:)
That is no problem. Please keep us updated on your progress, Rob! Super welcome.
You can later use the Move Feature found within the site manager to move one site to another...

All the best.

Hey Rob,
You should have access to the SiteRubix server as that is what we all use for staging.
See screen prints below...
Hope you find this helpful.
No, it is 'out of this world' Resource lol But I know where 'Amazing' is coming from lol

Yeah I create websites and play in siterubix domains and when I'm ready I just let site support know and they'll clone the content to a site that has your domain.

Hello. I'm working with a client to move his website to wealthy affiliate. The problem is his domain was registered and website was built by a company that has no longer in bus
Sounds like the built website has content, you need to contact site support for further instructions.
They typically ask you for FTP info and your domain name; they'll set up a siterubix subdomain and upload files. Then, you can check everything is okay before you point your domain to WA servers.
(You would still need the backup files; it would help if an admin could log in to the website. I am aware the webmaster is not available.)

Thanks Kyle. My client currently doesn't have access to his current server. His website developer has disappeared. Any input dealing with hosting sites when you don't have username and login to access your website? His domain is not registered in his name either? His website developer did everything and now they've disappeared.
Yeah, it's a tricky situation—and something to learn from for the future. Try contacting the hosting providers' support and explaining the problem; maybe they can help.
In what name is it registered? Or registrars?
Or reach out to the website developer and ask them to reinstate the website's owner and give access?
Abie
The owners of the domain are private so it's just domain by proxy. Go Daddy I guess. Whoever set everything up used a third party hosting via namecheap but namecheap is no help. Might be best to start over and I'll build it. It's to bad, my friend who hired this company to build his site is out a lot of money and no website. The company that built the site is nowhere to be found.
So, who reached out to you? (I'm working with a client to move his website to Wealthy Affiliate.) Why would your client put the ownership under a separate business, and for what purpose? Weren't they aware that their domain name could perhaps get hijacked by doing that? I am sorry to say that wasn't a smart move.
So, what is this website's status? Is it online? Is it getting traffic? Is it performing? Is it earning?
Abie
Yeah nothing was done very smartly here. My friend/ client isn't very computer savvy. He trusted this website builder until he didn't. It's unfortunate but had we known each other back when this was setup, things would be different. The company he used turned out to be a scam company based out of India. He could buy the domain for a fee but because we don't know the third party that his web builder used we can't get them to give us passwords etc. The website is offline right now so it makes it even worse.
Can you pursue this scam company? Buying it for a fee, from whom? Maybe these parties know something about the missing piece. They're scammers, so perhaps they're messing your client up. I suggest that if you or your client want to pursue this further, it may be best to seek the advice of a professional.

It's possible to buy the domain through a broker on go daddy but only If the owner of the domain agrees. Slim chance. I going to see what my friend wants to do.
Someone needs to have the keys to the registrar where the site is registered so they can authorize the domain name transfer (your client would need to fetch the EPP authorization code from the registrar). Once they do, they can safely authorize shifting it elsewhere (it must have passed the 60-day grace period). Your client may be able to prove to the registrar that they first registered their domain before transferring it due to being NOT techy enough to realize what they were doing and not consulting with an appropriate person to the extent of losing it.
The registrar is different from the hosting provider. I take the registrar as GoDaddy. Do they know their original customer number, or can they access any email correspondence or find an original receipt from the original purchase?

Just a little update. We finally have control on the domain on go daddy and I directed it here to the wa name server. Now the work begins to build a new website. FYI for anyone looking for an old website. There is a company called the wayback machine that's captured billions of images of websites since the 90s. They recently got hacked and were down but they are back online again.
I see okay.
And thanks for the update.
I am glad you could figure out something here.
All the best.

I all, I made up a logo on Canva with a little mp4 action. Can't seem to load it on my website as a logo. Could this be a feature where I have to upgrade to WP Pro ?
You have very good advice and guidance here…let us know if you have any further questions.
-Mike
Thanks Mike . I can usually figure stuff out with a search here, but this time I couldn't find anything. I'm always amazed how awesome the resources are here on the platform. Thank you all.
Cheers
Rob
First, you need to convert the mp4 file to a suitable format like GIF, WebM, or SVG format. Once you have the file in the required format, you can add it to your website as a logo.
You can try using a plugin like WP SVG or SVG Support to upload the SVG file as a logo.
Works perfect Abie! loaded the plug-in , loaded the gif and boom! Just that easy. : ) Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.
Cheers
