To WA Members Half a World Away
Hi everyone
We typically "hang out" with folks from our own continent/time zones and develop close online relationships with them. But last night I got to experience other WA members whom I don't normally see.
Here's why: my daughter decided it would be fun if she and her friend woke us up at 3:00 in the morning. Well, to be honest, they did try to be quiet but to no avail (they're teenagers). Of course I couldn't get back to sleep right away so I sat down at my computer and thought, "I wonder who's on at WA at this time of night?"
How cool was it to see WA members that I don't normally see, let alone engage with. It was great seeing the interactions from half a world away as you chatted, discussed the same things, resolved similar problems as we do here (I'm in western Canada). I didn't participate in your conversation (still had to get some sleep) but I did enjoy reading along in Live Chat.
As many of us know, WA is a global community and we often tell others that there is 24/7 support if new members need it. What a pleasure it was to see it in action. Thank you and it's soon my bedtime again but you are just getting going or maybe having lunch. All the best to all of you as we pass the "internet torch" forward to one another!

I absolutely agree. It is nice to see members coming on and starting their day even before we finish ours.
With the internet it's like they're down the street. Wouldn't it be nice to go over for coffee?
I think it's a huge plus that there's usually someone about 24/7-365 and it's a rare day that neither Kyle or Carson or both don't put in an appearance or two at some point. :) Rich. x
Excellent point about Kyle and Carson. I see one of them fairly often when I'm on as well, hopefully others do, too.
Very nice Rick. I'm still constantly amazed that I'm actually chatting with members half a world away. A lot of fun and just another huge perk that WA offers all of us.
Good point Rick. As someone who is in the Middle East, time zones are an issue, for instance with the weekly wabinars, so it's always watch the repeat time. I have not to date participated in chat, no real reason. Maybe I will give it a try and see what I get out of it, or can contribute.

G'day, Rick. Being on the East coast of the Land of Oz, we're only separated by the Pacific Ocean and an International Time line. Or a few seconds on the net. Amazing!

I suspect we miss a lot of good conversations and meeting other great people. But the issues and questions were similar. It was kind of neat.
I have been trying to get my bedtime on the early side of midnight for awhile (no luck yet, I'm just wired to keep going). That being said, some of my deepest and closest relationships have been with people in the UK, Australia, Ireland, Czech Republic..and it iw wonderful :) Maybe one day I'll bump across some WA folks on chat :)
"Early side of midnight" love it! I think many of us burn the midnight oil to get work done on our sites or to keep up to the training. So many responsibilities and so little time.
I know this seems like a silly question from someone who's been here almost a year, but... what is chat really all about?
I've never really been on it, except for the couple of times I had a pressing question that needed an answer asap...
Hearing others blog about it, it sounds like a fun place to hangout... what goes on there?
A mixture of help, sharing knowledge, chatting. It's always cool when there is socializing occurring and then someone jumps in needing help how quickly folks lend a hand to do that.
You can watch it "live" and decide for yourself if you want to jump in. It's a really great way to get to know other members. It's another way to enjoy the community here.
