Need Some Encouragement

I've been on Wealthy Affiliate now for not quite two months. Haven't completed all the training, unable to obtain any referrals and seem to accomplishing nothing but lack of sleep and headaches. I NEED ENCOURAGEMENT.

I browse other member websites and they are beautiful and functional and include images and links to promote their niche. Doesn't appear that I will ever be successful online. I NEED ENCOURAGEMENT.

I check out the Top 25 and the Top 200 in ranking and wonder will I ever move up in that category Currently 18031 I NEED ENCOURAGEMENT.

Belaboring the point with the negatives makes even my coffee taste bad go on and on with the negatives but makes even my coffee taste bad. Time for a little soul-searching. Had opportunity to meet with an associate in another business over coffee and we were comparing notes on our current ventures, When I brought up Wealthy Affiliates he asked for some particulars on the company. First gave a little back ground on when Kyle & Carson began and how it has developed over time. Next gave him some stats.

Certainly speaks to longevity and stability

He then inquires how long have you been involved and what have you accomplished. My answer of under two months and training I have completed and knowledge acquired seemed to impress him. His comments of being impressed with WA and how I have accomplished a lot in a brief time was ENCOURAGEMENT I NEEDED.

Plan on realizing what I have with WA and being more consistent with my efforts I STILL NEED ENCOURAGEMENT THOUGH.

This is my 4th year in WA. If there's an epitome of failure, then I am.

- My first blog post is a pathetic 300 words.
- My first website (that I'm currently still working on) looks totally hideous.
- I created almost 100 posts and barely made any money at all.
- I struggled to understand what a 'niche' really is and was all over the place for the first 2 years.

I started to find a method that works for my niche earlier this year, which I wouldn't have if I have given up during the first 3 years.

It's ok if your website doesn't look as nice as you wished to. It took me at least 4 major revamp to get the best appearance.

Rankings in WA doesn't necessarily mean you'll be successful. It just means how much time you spend on this platform. Don't get too obsessed with WA ranking. Instead, focus on creating more contents for your website.

If there's anything that I've learned as the major cause of my failure, it's the inability to focus and self-doubt.

As I'm writing, I'm still learning and growing with my website. It takes time to write decent articles, ranked and get incoming traffic.

Success doesn't happen overnight, online or offline. You'll only fail when you quit. Focus and don't give up.

To be honest, I've been here since 2009, and have yet to get a paid referral. Sure, I know that sounds like a long time, but to be honest, I have taken a lot of breaks from WA. I've been guilty of what I call "shiny object syndrome". You know, when you get distracted by something else that seems to be a better option than staying the course and doing the work. I constantly spread myself too thin, across too many projects, so I never saw results from any of them.

2018 is going to be different for me, as I am finally focusing on one project at a time. In the past week, I actually wrote a post that ranked on page one of Google. It first landed in the 2nd position but has been fluctuating in the past couple of days. The fact that I ranked that high is a first for me. I just have to keep with it and keep creating content.

I completely understand your frustration, but you have to remember when it comes to building an online business, success will take time. Every task you complete is a step in the right direction, and with time, it will begin to snowball and you will achieve success. Just be patient.

Stay on course with the training. Your pace of being ranked at 18k is good.

I have been at this for 4 months now and my rank is 306. I dedicate about 1 hour each morning for the give and take with the community, then the rest of the day is dedicated to my sites.

The training is a structured process that you need to follow and do all the tasks. Some of the questions you raise will be answered as you progress through the training.

I just made my 1st affiliate sale with Amazon. Not much, but it is making progress.

Stay the course and you will succeed!

Remember, a flood always starts with a trickle!

Hey bro, saw your message, and reaching out - the biggest curve happens in the first 3-6 months,

1) of getting used to a new routine
2) of picking up a new skill
3) of practicing a new skill

Someone shared about "finding your pace", and I'd like to add to it: I find scheduled routines and rest/walks very helpful.

Eg 2 hours 10 am to 12 pm to work on a website, then lunch + walk after, on weekdays....

Routines and pacing helps lots methinks...

Thanks for the comment and suggestions sounds like a plan

It's very easy to get caught up with emotions and especially when one look at others moving at nice/good speed and good outcomes, and when we look at ourselves/our works we wanna slap ourselves....because we are our worst critic...

Just keep trucking on my friend, keep going =)

Two months in WA and I can see you have acquired the knowledge to at least explain the company you are associating with which I find impressive Rick.

There are people here in WA only started to see positive results from their hard works after 6 months. And the reason they can see that results was that they persevered and they knew where they were heading. They had plan to execute and they had given themselves a time frame to achieve that goals.

Follow the training (all of them) and execute all the tasks recommended in each training module. Have a written plan would help you to see your progress and should be a motivation to complete the plan according to the time frame you set up.

The business (website) you are building needs time to mature and get the trust from search engines. So keep building it by writing high quality content and I am positive you will be there at the spot where you want to be.

Please do not quit!

:)
Joe

Thanks Joe for the comment I'm in for the long haul and determined to be successful. Feel like WA is the right platform

I am positive you have what it takes to keep drilling the tunnel up to the end where you see lights of success Rick.

And remember, you have the whole community to back you up in case you need any assistance. Just raise your questions here and the community will surely revert to you.

:)

Hello Rick,

I had to change my mindset where results are first intangible.

If you are feeling stress, what exactly is creating that stress?

Comparing my progress to others is not the way to go for a peaceful state of mind. Find your pace and run the race.

I take breaks and then I do a task. I have personally been using the Pomodoro Technique.

I accomplish what I can accomplish and give myself a break. There is no possible way I can do it all in a day. I do what I can and start again.

We recently purchased gravel to pave our driveway. Tuesday the mound was very high. We shovel one scoop at a time into the wheelbarrow and spread it out on the drive.

It's Sunday. The mound is still there but it is smaller and we can see our efforts where we laid the gravel smooth. Success is within our grasp at all times. We just need to do the work.

I chose a goal for the next year that I have a skill for. I want the Ambassador badge for this year. I network in my volunteer work.
Gas prices has affected my ability to travel so I spend more time here to network while I spend time at home.

I still have the connection I crave in the WA community. I found a new goal. I'm happier and more comfortable learning to build trust with WA members. Once I hone my communication skills then I can apply it to my website through my blog content. I'm learning how to write on a more personal level.

But I say it again. This is the pace I choose to run.

What is a pace for you that is manageable and can you support it?

Ask yourself what expectations do you have and are they realistic?

I go back to the three questions that are asked for setting my goals with WA. My time goals increased but my money goals decreased because i gained something that was priceless: self confidence and motivation from within. I'm doing something I enjoy at a relaxed pace.

Ask yourself: What is your niche? Is it fun or is it work?

I want pleasure not pain. The reason why I chose online marketing in the first place.

All the best,

Louisa

Hi Louisa,

Glad to hear that you are enjoying the journey here! : ) Yes, this platform is wonderful and there are so many positives here!

Right, by comparing yourself to others, you may divert your attention to what is important and get stressed, thus causing a setback. So, continue what you are doing at your own pace.

Best to you!

Cathy

I like what you said about doing things in chunks. I think that's more practical to find a way that works for you but still focusing on your goals and the big picture.
Al the best and keep doing all your lessons.

I read your profile and I enjoy you being vulnerable sharing about time management being a struggle for you.

When it comes to time I noticed that time spent with WA is rewarded instantly in my WA ranking so it is a motivator to continue to do activities that encourage progress.

On the days I don't feel like doing anything I read a blog post for encouragement. I then eventually have the motivation to leave a comment and thank someone here for their contribution.

My lessons are going well. I'm starting the lessons in Affiliate Bootcamp, because I have build a faith in the WA program and want to learn more about WA.

I can always go back to my original niche when I have more training about WA.

Thanks for the encouragement.

All the best,

Louisa

Cathy,

I read your profile and seems you have a lot of experience managing time and moving at your pace.

From being a legal secretary and then florist, you have learned what is necessary to stay motivated.

I like the fact your love for animals has brought a new chapter in your life. I must admit my dog Sunny has been a good friend during those times when I hard time facing my circumstances.

Now I know that many times when I was down I needed to do something to get out of a funk. Most time all it takes is reading a blog post here and it changes my mood instantly.

Thanks for your encouragement.

All the Best,

Louisa

Okay let me get to the point. I started working with WA four month ago. Have put together a nice website, in my niche BBQ and Smoker Grilling.
I have not had any traffic to my site yet or any sales. I told myself this was going to take time, there is alot to learn and set long term goal of 3 years.
I have had the thought of this is not working. But the people here at WA are so supportive, I know it will work. So i will not give up, will stay to my commitment of 3 years. The hardest thing for me is I read all the posts and get distracked, but I and you have to stay with it and stay with the training. Two and four months is nothing it is a blink in time. Keep with it don't quit and you will achive your dreams.

Thanks for sharing your feelings and the evidence about WA. We all wish instant gratification. It sounds like you are really getting into you business and the training. Saying "Keep it up" may sound like missing the point; but most roads to success are long and sometimes even rough.
Betty

We all need encouragement my friend. I’m in my third month and plan on moving forward. We can do this and be successful. I too have to be more consistent in writing content for my website. It’s not going to do it on its own, right? Stay encouraged and press in and press on and I’m gonna do the same. Thanks for your post. Have a great day. Take care

Two months is not very long! I am coming up on my 3-year WA anniversary, and I still learn new things every day. That should not be considered a negative, though. It's a testament to how we never stop learning and growing, because there are always exciting new things to learn.

Please give yourself time, and try not to be so hard on yourself. I know that is easier said than done... Maybe take a day off where you don't look at your websites or try to think of anything. Just take a day to relax, and your mind will feel rejuvenated. Sometimes we get a little burned out with our own ideas and we need to take a step back.

I'm glad your friend was able to provide some new perspective. You ARE learning valuable skills here, and they are by no means easy. What you are trying to accomplish is hard work, and continuing to take action for two straight months is a big accomplishment.

Give yourself a pat on the back, and don't worry about comparing yourself to others' progress! The only person you have to compete with is YOU.
