About Louisaparson
Joined April 2018
I am a Veteran Certified Peer Specialist in Tye, TX. I'm a Persian Gulf War veteran who served from Apr 89 - Apr 95.

I started O.N.E. FAVOR (Outreach Network Enrichment Faces and Voices of Recovery) because I experienced military sexual trauma in the Navy and have been receiving treatment since 2008. I have been sober since March 12, 2006.

My network includes underemployed women who have experienced sexual trauma. Most of us are housewives that spend time alone making crafts as a secondary income and as part of our treatment plan.

I have started blogging on my website about trauma-informed care, telling some of my experiences with women on the website I'm learning to build at WA, and doing recovery audio recordings on O.N.E. FAVOR Facebook group.

Update May 23, 2018

When I checked my profile this morning my WA ranking drastically dropped.
I have been tracking my ranking since May 17, 2018 to see if my participation in the WA community would make an impact.

On May 17 my ranking was 6240 with 174 in my network
On May 23 my ranking was 561 with 204 in my network

I spend an average of 3 hours a day responding to emails for trainings and blogs and replying back to those who followed me. Even with 3 hours in my day dedicated to the WA community, I'm way behind.

I do my best every day in addition to spending 15 hours a week working on my lessons.

I originally planned on 25 hours a week on WA. This number has increased to about 35 hours a week since May 4 when I became Premium. The hard work is definitely worth it since I have learned so much.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update June 25, 2018

I went yearly June 1, 2018.

I'm excited about the commitment that I have made for a year.

My WA ranking is 239 and I have 352 in my network.

Since I have been helping my fiance with his handyman business, my routine has changed. I have been concentrating on building a website for his audience and it has limited me to post and respond to my emails. Now I try to catch up on the weekends or find time before I go to bed at night.

It has put a damper in my routine, because I love interacting in the WA community.

However, duty calls and my fiance wants to know how I can build his online presence so I spend a lot of time thinking about his campaign on Facebook and trying to stay active on his website that I built.

I'm spending more time applying my Affiliate Bootcamp training and trying to stay up-to-date on my own website as well.

I have learned a lot about choosing low hanging fruit keywords and getting more comfortable with WordPress.

Mainly I'm writing and doing keyword searches on Jaxxy to find interesting blog topics.

Hi Louisa, thank you for following me. I will be following you. What a difficult story you share about your military experience. Having been in the military myself and two of my daughters I am aware of the sexual trauma survivors. Ongoing support is needed to build more awareness and tools for support. This is great you are doing this.

I think we all struggle to balance what we want to do here at WA, with what we know is important in our lives. Block out time everyday to work on the most important thing in your life. Our priorities change just has you have had to put more time into building the online aspects of your business.
Reply

Yes Bill.

Managing priorities can be a fine art.

I have learned there is a limit on what I can do each day. I tackle what I can if time permits.

My goal is to respond to at least 5 blog posts per day and answer a question or provide support to the questioner.

I try to welcome at least 5 new members and follow up with new members in my network.

Even with these small goals I fall behind. I have had a change in my daily life that has made it harder to participate with my sites as I hoped I could.

With 3 sites I maintain I have found that one site gets my attention more than the others.

I have recently learned new information from Brian Dean on how to increase SEO rankings and have utilized some of his suggestions.

I'm rewriting some of my posts to make them longer and more searchable by Google. With new information I tweek my blogs.

That requires a lot of time but is well worth it to produce results.

All the best,

Louisa

You have an amazing story, steadfast survivor instinct, and a plan for tomorrow. Glady to meet you. As to the rank, drops keep in mind that at any minute of the day there are thousands of people who are also vying for those ranks. You can simply have one blog get a fewer number of comments, or one support message gets one less like than a dozen other people and find yourself 2 dozen spots off yesterday's numbers. Don't worry too much about that as you are here for your blogs and community, to reach the audience you are giving voice to, and to earn funds to support your life and mission. Ranking here at WA is nice but doesn't always forward those goals. I was top 60 and noticed my blog suffered for the time in WA support so I cut back some for a better balance between my mission of building a business that will send my 7 kids to college and helping people more immediately in WA.

Hi Louisa,

Thanks for the follow, following you back. Keep up the good work that you are doing and don't worry about rankings, etc. They will always go up and down, especially in the early stages. Follow the certification course training lessons one by one, don't jump ahead. Then implement them on your website just the way Kyle shows you. It will pay off in the long run.
And best wishes to you for a successful journey here at WA.

Ed,

WA rankings are important to me, because it gives me daily feedback about how I'm interacting within the community. If I don't do any work that day, my ranking goes back up and I have to make up for it the following day.

It is easier to do something every day and watch my ranking inch down slowly. It helps me develop a daily routine with WA and keeps me current on blog posts and following other members.

I have a notebook to track those I follow so I can send them some encouragement monthly to see how they have progressed.

All the Best,

Louisa

Hi Louisa,
If you are using your WA rankings as incentive and motivation to keep you interacting within the community and active with your blog, that's great.
However, if you are trying to use it as a gauge of how well you are doing in affiliate marketing or as a blogger, then this is where I think there are better ways to spend your time.
Don't get me wrong, the WA community is awesome. Better to be an active participant in this network than others like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
Cheers and keep doing what you are doing,
Ed

Sammy,

It's great to hear that you want financial freedom in order to give back through charities.

I understand that goal completely. I currently want to have more money to support some good charities in my community that help single moms who are facing homelessness.

I would love to have a small shelter to help women and children transition to some available resources in our community. Often times there is waiting period for these programs and they need a place to stay until they are selected.

I commend your progress with WA and hope your dreams come true.

All the best,

Louisa

Pam,

Thanks for the compliment.

I have been doing volunteer work since my husband passed Halloween 2014. I found that these activities helped me mourn and get back on my feet.

I started O.N.E. FAVOR with the intention of providing a one to one service unlike the agencies in my local network. Instead of handing a person a list of resources I often take her to her first appointment to agencies that have worked for me in the past then I help them get to where they need to be to qualify for resources.

Recently I'm helping a single mom who is facing eviction to qualify for a women and children program. she needed a job to qualify but she hadn't had an interview in six months.

I'm happy to say she landed a job and had a meeting with the Board members of the program to be selected as a resident.

I do focus on my ranking since one of my goals is to be Ambassador within a year. I respond to my emails daily with in depth replies, because I'm learning how to communicate with my audience.

I have chosen this pace, because I have the time to do so right now. Setting a routine early on helps me stay focused on WA.

Thanks for stopping by and I visited your profile and left you a comment.

All the Best,

Louisa

David,

I'm a social animal by heart which I learned from volunteering with women. Women tell stories all day and you just need to ask questions to engage.

On WA I try to connect with women that have similar interests and goals as me. I also keep a notebook of Marketers to Watch and Newcomers that follow me. I do my best to stay connected by planning it in my morning routine.

I read emails for about 3-4 hours on days i stay at home and don't have errands to run. On the days when I'm in town doing service work, I spend at least 2 hours responding to emails before I plan my day.

I do this, because I enjoy it and I want to be a better communicator. I want to be able to interact on my site when women reach out to me.

Thanks for reaching out to a newcomer.

All the best,

Louisa

Keeping a schedule is the best way to get things done but I do plan R&R. Tonight I'm going to my daughter's bell recital. It was nice to see her on Mother's Day since I only see her holidays since she graduated.Going into town to do some grocery shopping and make a meeting before her recital.

Took a bath to cool off after spending time in my home office. I don't have that much air but I keep the blinds closed. In the mid afternoons I have to stop while the sun is beating down on my windows from the West. Sometimes I resume when the sun goes down if I have any energy left.

In my country South Africa, thousands of women marched to the offices of the then government in protest in 1955. They coined a phrase "You strike a Woman, you strike a Rock" These words symbolise the courage and strength expressed of these Women.
The true strength of a woman is realised after hardship and pain.

Hi, Louisa. Very happy to meet you. I was fascinated by your bio. Did you have any of the symptoms of Gulf War Syndrome? So sorry to hear of your sexual trauma. It's a wonderful service you're doing sharing your expertise and experience with other women who have also been traumatized.

As a retired occupational therapist, I am interested in what kind of crafts you and your group do for extra income as well as therapy. I used to have patients who did wood working, leatherwork, and ceramics as part of their psychiatric therapy.

Welcome to WA and to my network. Thanks for following me. Followed you back. If you have any questions as you work your way through the training, don't hesitate to ask our awesome community for help. There's always someone who knows the answers and will be happy to help you.

Hi Louisa,

Welcome to Wealthy Affiliates and to one of the best (if not the best) sites to begin your new journey at. Be prepared for a lot of study, a lot of time, a lot of success! You will get what you put in so roll up the sleeves and get it started.
1. I recommend starting at Lesson One and following Kyle's plan exactly. He is a great instructor and his methods work.
2. Take advantage of the additional trainings posted by other members and don't be afraid to search out answers to questions. Use the question bar at the top of the page and chances are, you will find the answer.
3. Feel free to ask others for help. I do not think anyone here at WA would hesitate to provide any help they can.

4. And most importantly! Give yourself some breathing room. This place is more addicting than all the social networking places combined. Remember to take a little time off.

If I can help, I will.
Be Successful!

I have been getting some rest but you are correct: This site is very addicting and want to keep up with the networking here and still do what I need to do on my personal site as well.

Developing content takes some time but I have followed Kyle's suggestion to write and get it up without too much editing to make it perfect.

I hope things are going well. I know you are getting rolling within the training and there is ONE thing that always tends to confuse people and that is "what is my niche?".

I know, same thing happened to me when I started.

I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I am here if you ever want to run any niche "ideas" by me or you have any questions about finding your niche.

Yes since I wrote the article I thought it would be nice to build what I wrote about as an example of being a member here.

My ultimate goal is to use WA to its fullest way before I market it.

That's why I chose a niche about the conversation I had with my friend. She wanted a solution and I'm building it for her.

I completed Lesson 5. I have a clean slate on my website. The best place to start.

I completed Lesson 6. I enjoyed this lesson because I love the SEO plugin since I don't have it on my current site that hosts my domain. If it does I didn't have instruction on how to use it.

Though I paid a year's membership to have my domain on SiteBuilder, I do have questions on how to bring it in WA.

I want to get further down in the lessons before I do so.

It is quite a manual process to move a website to WA, but it can be done if it is a Wordpress based site.

You would have to follow these steps:

(1) Download your content locally
(2) Update your domain DNS settings to point to WA. Here are the DNS settings.

ns1.mywahosting.com
ns2.mywahosting.com

(3) Build a website here at WA using the website builder.
(4) Transfer your content over to WA

This is a very manual process and it can be done, but I don't recommend doing it if you have an established high ranking website, I don't usually recommend moving it.

If you need any further help, let me know.
