Hi All! My name is Jennifer, I'm a 39-year-old wife, living in the lovely state of Connecticut. I actually happened upon WA almost by accident back in 2009. I used to spend my time searching for the best, i.e. quickest, way to make money online, and sadly that cause me to fall for and spend a lot of money I didn't have on a wide range of "get rich quick" schemes before I finally landed here at WA.

I have over 10 years experience in the IT field with the majority of my experience being in IT support for a variety of different platforms and applications. I went to school for Computer Science and at the time it was the field to get into, but now the tides appear to be turning and with all the outsourcing that we are facing here in the US, I need to find something that I enjoy doing while managing to pay off all my bills and hopefully make a profit in the process. After 10 years in the IT field, I lost my job and found myself out of work for over a year. I picked up two part-time retail jobs, and finally found myself back in the real world, as a Database Marketing Analyst, but a Breast Cancer diagnosis in August 2016, forever changed my life and resulted in a job loss due to side effects from my Cancer treatments.

Anyways, in my free time, when I have some, I love to read, play video games, do crafts, and anything else that may pique my interest. My husband and I are also the parents of 3 cats. We recently lost our pup Smokey in July 2017, due to cancer, after a long 13 years. He is missed every day. My goal is to truly enjoy life and spend more time at home with my husband and our furry four-legged clan, then spend too many hours stuck in a windowless office/cubicle for the rest of my life.

For the first time in my life, I am finally trying to focus on putting myself and my family first. Cancer has made me realize that tomorrow is never a guarantee, and to always live life to the fullest, which is why I am finally focusing on building my affiliate sites, as a traditional "job" is no longer in the cards for me.

Thanks and I look forward to working with you all.

You sent me a reply regarding a blog I posted to the area create a new blog that is located under my profile. I copied and pasted the blog to my site and have deleted the one under the other area. I thought the only area we couldn't post affiliate linked blogs was on live chat. What is the purpose of the create a blog tab under the profile name used for then?
Reply
smokeywins Premium
The post you had written is better served to be on your niche website, than here at the WA blog. Affiliate links are a no-no, in chat as well as on the blog.

This post may help tell you more: The use of the WA blog varies from one person to another, but in reality, posting quality content can help boost your chances at a WA referral. Some use it as just a general personal blog, but the posts on there do rank and if someone outside WA finds it, they can click through and signup, and you would be credited with the referral.

This may help better explain its use:

Thanks for the follow. I just recently lost my Bubba(Maine Coon Cat) and Punkin(Pomeranian). Both were also 13 like your Smokey. As soon as I get settled in my new home here in Kiev I am getting another Pom and Coon. They gave me more joy, laughs, and comfort than anyone in my life. Good luck and God Bless.

That is so true! Our kitty Brutus is quite the character. He comes when called, and will actually sit on command. So not what you expect from a cat, but they do say that the Coon's are the dogs of the cat family. Thanks for the follow and please don't hesitate to ask questions if you have them.

Thank you. Coons are the best. Bubba was 47plus inches long head to tail and scared the crap out of every friends dog that ever came over, no matter how big the dog. lol
Reply
smokeywins Premium
LOL! Our's aren't even full blood Coons. They're feral kitties we adopted. Brutus currently weighs in at about 20 lbs. He's the white chested one in my photos. He can bench press you off when he no longer wants attention, and can actually reach the top of the counter with his paws.

Hi Jennifer,
I enjoyed reading your profile. I can somewhat relate to your struggle with medical issues. In 2005 I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and subsequently required a bone marrow transplant. Mayo Clinic did a super job treating me. I have been in remission since then and feel good most of the time.

I try to live each day to the fullest. I keep a journal where I count my blessings each. Like today, I was so happy to see that our rain hand ended and the sun was shining.

I am struggling a little getting my website up. In my career job, I worked the other side of IT. I worked with a team that designed work applications for insurance. I did not get involved that much with the actual programs. Some of it is starting to sink in though!

Best wishes in your career here at WA.

When I first started with WP many years ago, I mostly stumbled around and did a lot of trial and error to figure out how things work. That was before the step by step training that Kyle and Carson put into place.

You really don't need to have any programming experience to get your website to work, only maybe some basic knowledge of HTML, in my opinion.

Just stick with the training, and it will all start to fall in to place. And of course you have a community full of people willing to help if you get stuck, just don't be afraid to ask for help.

Hello Jennifer, nice to meet you. I enjoyed reading your profile and you have a great lookout on life. We all should live everyday to the fullest.

I am sorry about your dog, it is so hard when we lose them. I lost my Aussie to cancer back in 2014. She was only 8 years old.

Wishing you much success,

Hi, Jennifer.
Paul here from Ontario, Canada.

I am very pleased to make your acquaintance.

Wow, you have been here since 2009. That must have been a great time because that is when Kyle and Carson hired more key team members to handle the growth that they were experiencing.

I have been here since 2016 when everything was already set-up under one roof.

It's interesting that so many here have similar stories of being 'ripped off' or 'mislead' before actually making WA their home.

You have an interesting story and I look forward to learning, sharing and serving with you as we all move forward here.

Kindest regards and respect from Canada.

Paul.

I, too have been scammed by the worst and found the best here. I'm having trouble getting back into it after a couple months off. Can't get into it for some reason so I read my mail and answer it. I study and take notes so one day my tired ole brain will wake up to all this wonderful training
Best of everything

I completely understand! I know it may be hard, but just try and do one step each day, even if its something small. Reading and taking notes is great, but without action, you will never move forward. It took me many years to finally realize that. 2018 will finally be the time that I start making changes cause life is just too short to keep waiting for tomorrow. Sadly it took Cancer to make me realize that.

I hope things are going well. I know you are getting rolling within the training and there is ONE thing that always tends to confuse people and that is "what is my niche?".

I know, same thing happened to me when I started.

I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I am here if you ever want to run any niche "ideas" by me or you have any questions about finding your niche.

Get back to me when you get the chance! :)

Thanks Kyle! I’m actually in process of reworking my site. It started as a free WP site, and I just purchased the domain las year. My primary focus is personal accounts/experiences with Breast Cancer, diagnosis, treatments, etc, along with promotions the network marketing product Isagenix, as it is a product I personally use. With other stuff to be added as I find them. Is targeting the Health & Wellness niche not specific enough, should I be targeting specifically within the Breast Cancer aspect. I do have interests in homeopathy, natural remedies, organic/natural products, but I’m not sure if that’s going too far out or not. my site is http://lifeinthemind.com, and when it was purchased years ago, I was targeting from the aspect of multi-tasking, and it was a site with too many different niches. That has always been my problem, trying to throw too much stuff into one site, then the site no longer has a focus. Thanks in advance for any guidance!
Reply
Kyle Premium
You might want to consider getting a website that is relevant to the concept or the theme of what your website is going to be about. You were trying to combine too many different ideas, and as a result your website is going to be ineffective at targeting everyone.

So before you go any further, I would try to retarget and rebrand your site, or create a brand new website with a much more targeted domain (to the niche that you decide).

You want to focus on one niche per website.
Reply
smokeywins Premium
Thanks Kyle! I’m currently working on rebranding into heath & wellness, along with my cancer experiences. Instead of life in the mind of a multitasker, it’s turned into life in the mind of a cancer survivor.

Is health and wellness too vague? I was thinking of targeting from natural products/remedies, but also don’t want to be too focused that I can’t talk about more general health topics. Isagenix falls into health and wellness, from the healthy nutrition aspect.

Thanks for your help and hope that all makes sense.
Reply
Kyle Premium
What aspect of the health/fitness niche do you want to help people with? There are literally 1,000's of niches within these categories and you will want to narrow it down.

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)

Focus on just ONE website and create success with that before diversifying and creating multiple niche websites.

It only takes ONE website in one niche to be very successful online. I usually find that folks that try to do too much at once (focus on several niche websites) end up in a state of mediocrity because it can be overwhelming and you don't really ever become the expert in just one niche.

It is the experts (specialists) that create long term, successful businesses in any niche.

Hi Kyle! I have been giving my site some thought, and this is what I have come up with:

your source for natural products no matter where you are in your breast cancer journey.

My thoughts are natural products to help with side effects from chemo, radiation, surgery etc, as well as products, recipes, etc to help the body heal post treatment.

Is that specific enough?

The hardest thing is to just jump in and start. The easiest thing to do is start with the lessons, you should see a Get Started Here menu on the left side of your screen. Your first attempts will not be perfect, heck even the site I am working on now has gone through multiple changes cause I kept second guessing myself. Just keep making an effort at moving forward. Sure there may be mistakes and failures, but eventually, you will see success!

Hi Jennifer,
I just ran across you and noticed your Tabby. My mom started feeding a stray, and having a preschooler at the time, I took it in. Somehow, probably some college days joke somehow, we named her jones. She owned our homes, apartment parking lots, certain neighbors cars (in a cats sunning and lounging way) for 17 years through a few states and apartments and homes before passing here in MidWinter Indy. My chocolate and black labs were more my buddies, but Jones always ruled the roost and holds a place in mine and my sons life forever. He grew up with her and she taught him a certain attitude.

Hello Jennifer, thanks for your comment on my WA blog post. So true what you said. That is why I write my own articles much faster than with an spinner.

That is my goal as well... I just need to set aside the time to get them done... Working so many hours during the day makes it quite difficult sometimes, but I will get it done. :-)

Hey smokeywins: You are not the only victim of internet schemes. You'll find many of them inside WA today. This is the right place to be. Here you'll learn A LOT so follow your 8 week action plan and if you have any questions just let me know. Have a great week.
Rodrigo.
