Okay, am ready to upload a photo ( a free one ) onto my site's 'homepage' and get it ready for all to see--- now how do I do that? It's right there down at LOWER LEFT of my com

If you are trying to download pic onto blog go to site content select image button to the left of spell check button. click inside search bar at top of drop down type what you want, when finding what you like select the the button CHOOSE that shows up when you mouse over the image. Crop it, optionally title it than select Save and Insert, whalah its in your post

Hi Anthony! Thanks, I've got it--- and I'm now QUITE happy with what I've done . . . I used ( had to open an account with them ) a site called 'free images' and after looking at the many, many examples they had finally saw one and downloaded that and now have it. Thanks again.

If you want a free photo from the options in Site Content I haven't figured out how to save it to computer to use in WordPress outside of going to the site listed on the bottom right of the photo, creating account at the free photo site, once there searching for the photo than downloading it from there

Hi. thanks for advice.... I finally have what I want but I'm customizing it over and over and over again and now have it. Have clicked on 'publish' several times already but the 'OLD' site w/ background keeps reappearing.... what do I do about that?

Hi - there is a workaround. Open up a post in Site Content, load it with as many images as you want for future use. Publish it to your website. Immediately log in and delete the post.

The post will have gone, but all the images in it will have been saved to your media library, ready to use whenever you want.

In the same menu where you can add logo and Header Image is also the option of "Background Image". There is various option here to adjust your background image but right under the preview of what you uploaded is the options of "Change Image" and "Remove Image" Removing is what you would want to do there followed by pressing the "Publish Button" on the top right of that side menu in order to save your changes.

Hey yeah in the same side menu you can add logo and header image is also the option of background image. Quite a few options are here for adjusting your background but what you are looking for is the options right under the picture preview "Remove" and "Replace Image" Select Remove and than be sure to select the publish button at the top right of that menu to save changes!

Heeeeeey, I like it! not a bad Idea! So those show up in your Media Library in Word Press eh?

Just realized you said you selected publish and it's not updating my bad. Also a header image is suppose to be 2000 x 200 pixels. Featured images for posts are the ones that should be 1200 x 628 pixels. Anyway, in regards to the not updating when selecting publish. Make sure to remove any previous photos, refresh your browser, or clear cache. you can clear cache right here in WA by going to the task bar at the top clicking Websites, select Site Manager on the top of the drop down, once there select the button on the bottom right titled "Details" once there scroll down a hair till you see "Clear Cache" selecting this will provide a check mark by it.

When in your Word Press Dashboard, mouse over the name of your site in the task bar at the top left. When doing so a drop down will show and provide an option of "Visit Site" click that. When at your site the task bar will remain at the top. select the option "Customize". A menu will than show to your left. From this Menu there are a couple options available to you to accomplish this task.
-First, there is Site Identity. From there you can upload a Logo photo along with add a Site Title, Sub title, and Site Icon
-Second, you can go to Header Image to add a image that way. keep it around 1200 pixels by 628 pixels

I am not sure what you mean by its in the lower left.

To upload a photo Click on Media in your back office then "add new"

click "select files"
add your photo and then click open. This will add the pic to your media library.

You can now go to any post/page and choose the image icon and insert the image in to your page

What I mean is, I went to a free images site which WA had advised me to do . . . and found something I wish to use, then it said download, which I did and it's sitting "here" on the lower left of my computer screen. But I WISH TO ADD IT . . . . to my page. And don't know how to do that.

Thanks. I'll do as you said to . . .

oh ok. I get what you mean

I have exactly what I wish to use for a photo on my homepage ( of site ) and there is the tab at lower left of screen . . . Now the question is: how do I download wanted photo

How do I get FREE pictures?

If you are looking for free images to use, while avoiding copyright laws I suggest that you use a creative commons image finder. These websites allow you to find images that you can use for free. Just make sure that you select the filter that allows you to only see images that you can use commercially.

https://search.creativecommons.org/

This is a website that may be useful, but know that there are many more!

Hi Peter,
I sometimes use Pixabay to get free photos you can use on your website. Save it as Jpg or PNG on your computer. There is a size required of the image but someone might be able to tell you what the acceptable size is for WordPress and publishing.

You can also use canva to get free images and resize to the required size.

Hope the above helps.
Cheers,
Evelyn

Thanks, Sushay! I got something by using a "place" ( a site ) called "free images" and saw something I really really wanted, planned it accordingly, cropped it to size needed, downloaded it to my computer ( but that was a bit crazy for me as I don't know how to store things on to my computer ) -- and finally got it, and I'm quite pleased. Thank you for your help but I now have something. Have a great day!

Hi

Are you meant to say upload to your WordPress sites back office vs download to your PC. You may use resource below to find free images you can use and download.

Media library tab, you can upload your photo, then go to Appearance > Customize and find an option where to set on homepage.

If you didn't create the photo then it belongs to someone else. Downloading for use on your website would most likely be a breach of copyright laws.

You can get free photos that you can legally use at pixabay.com and when you find something you want to use there's a download button.

Hi, Marion! Thanks & will keep your suggestion ( that website you offered ) for future, but I got something and am happy using it. Have a great one! Cheers!

Am still building my website and much content for it. But how will I know when I'm indexed?

In your browser type site:domainname.com (using your own domain name) and you'll get a list of all the pages that have been indexed.

You'll get an email saying so.

Hi - you will get an email. After that, each post will be indexed individually.

Thank you. Now just want to know: which email ? My lovepeter9@comcast.net --- or through here? Thanks again.

It will be from WA.
