Creating a Mobile APP, part 1
CAVEAT: Native Android. iPhone Unfriendly.
Hey WA friends,
First off, I want to give credit to Loes Knetsch for introducing this mobile app to WA.
The website is www.appmakr.com (no affiliate link).
You can make your own free app there
The Purpose of Creating an APP
* my own thoughts...
1. More than half the world in staring at smartphones all day. It gives you another way to connect with them
2. The younger demographic is constantly downloading apps for convenience. You can make the app with convenience in mind.
3. The app is another way to keep UPDATED information at their disposal. In addition to the traditional ways of sending emails and newsletters, and alerts, this app keep fresh information at hand.
4. E-Readers are dominating over paper books. This app gives that kind of feel.
5. For those of us who have multiple sites, this app does a great job of organizing all your sites, all your social media accounts (FB, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Tumblr, etc.), YouTube Channel, eBooks, etc.
* For me, this is HUGE, because I have multiple sites and I want my visitors to see the big picture of how all the sites work together synergistically. I don't want any visitor stuck/isolated on one site. I want the traffic to flow easily between them. This app will help. I want to give credit to Gordon Appleby for advising me of the importance of synergy and flow between the sites.
6. It helps you market or share your websites easier. In some situations, it would be easier to mention the app than to try to list all your sites and social media accounts, and products....the people will not be able to retain all that. For example, I will be speaking at a conference soon and the audience will be very tech savvy. In such a situation, it will be easier to mention the app than to talk about a newsletter sign up. And printing the QR CODE into the conference brochure will be a great way for them to shoot the code and immediately download the app.
The following image is not linked. If you want to download the app, you can visit www.pastortae.com on your own and consider it.
.
WHERE would you put this app?
* I'm still thinking about this. For now, I have placed it in the following
1. At the end of my post: I created an image and linked it to the url where they can download the app.
2. I put it in my "About" page. If you visit the "About" page at www.pastortae.com, you will also see the QR CODE that is given after you make the app. That's nice to have for your sites but also for any printed marketing that you do.
3. I created a slider and put it on my sidebar. If you are interested in creating a slider, I created a blog about it

yes, it's very cool. I just wish they could make something for the iPhone. That really stinks.
I have seen Loes' app, my site is even on it, but so far I have not been able to upload it to my phone. Have a new androide and haven't totally figured out how it works yet. Bookmarked your post for when I am ready
It is android friendly. Let me know if you want help in downloading hers. You can do it via her QR code too
Hi again. This whole point of this app is to make things easy and convenient with a very quick download. If that is not possible, then I want to know....because it would reflect on the experience of your visitor. So, I'm going to go back up and add to my blog a quick tip about downloading Loes' app. Try it and let me know whether it was easy or complicated.
your new phone may be blocking any third party downloads. Go into your settings and check and "ALLOW" third party downloads. Also see my added comments in the blog about how to download
You are the Man. Thanks for an exellent post. I will get back here as soon as I'm finished my Bootcamp. Otherwise it's gonna be to much for me. Fantastic news, I didn't now that this was even possible for us
Yeah. I found out about 2 months ago and thought it was a good idea. But it had to wait until I was ready. So take your time and finish the training. Then you will really know what you want
