3313 Unique Visitors in ONE DAY to a 22-Month Old Website

This is going to be a cross between, “Partha Does Motivation, While Also Providing You With a Swift Kick in the Backside”.

I guess the title says it all.

For those who know me, you’re no doubt aware of my methods by now.

And for those that aren’t, I’ll provide links below to my various blog posts that will walk you through the process.

Now, I was actually surprised to see this amount of traffic yesterday.

This is not to say that it’s unusual for me to receive this amount of daily traffic.

However, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday tend to be my lowest traffic days.

In fact, these 3 days will typically produce anywhere from 800-1,400 fewer visitors per day than the other 4 days of the week.

This makes sense to me.

The website in question is the exercise website in my profile, which is also the site that I use to provide proof of the various accomplishments in my WA blog posts.

In effect, people are more interested in exercise during the week, while being at work, being more sensible, and practicing all their “good habits”.

The weekend arrives, things go out the window, it’s party time - drinks, pizza, staying out all night (and then when you eventually do get home, you sleep on the floor, and tell your wife that although you find her very attractive, you won’t be getting into bed with her, because you are in fact married - yep, been there, done it, at least it shows I’m honest and faithful, LOL. Clearly stupid, but you can’t have everything) ANYWAY, ain’t no-one got time to be reading about exercise.

I GET IT.

That being said, I still generally expect at least a couple of thousand visitors per day over the weekend (thank you non-party people).

The Basic Principles

Okay, I’ve gone over this a few times now, but I guess I just want to hammer the message home.

I honestly think a lot of people overcomplicate this process.

For me, I’m not looking to become the next Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos.

Yeah, that all sounds great, but I prefer the easy life, the minimum of hassle, and time to spend with the ones I love.

So, my process has always been fairly simple.

Find great keywords, write articles, repeat.

THAT’S IT.

You do that, repeat the process over-and-over again, VOILA!!

However, I’m still amazed at everything I see and read here at WA, and my first thought a lot of the time is, “Why Are You Complicating This?”

If you want me to be completely honest, a lot of the time people simply AREN’T WORKING HARD ENOUGH, but they are under the “impression”/“pretence” that they are.

In fact, they even manage to trick themselves into thinking that they’re working hard.

One of the main things I’ve always said, and this counts in any walk of life, any job, any career, any business:

FIND THE ONE THING THAT WILL DRIVE YOUR BUSINESS FORWARD THE BEST AND THEN SPEND 90% OF YOUR TIME DOING THAT.

So, when I see members who are very new to this, trying to do 1,001,763 different things on a daily basis, my heart goes out to you.

If you are here because you are interested in earning money, keep it simple.

Stop falling for all the shiny objects out there.

Yes, I like vision, I’m not a fan of goals (build great habits, this is ALWAYS better than “making goals”, what happens if you don’t achieve your goal? Your mind and your inner critic takes over, and typically you either give up completely or stop working as hard. However, if you create great daily habits, you’re constantly moving forward, and you’re never actually “failing”. P.s. make the habits small and achievable. I would much rather that you say that you’re going to write for 8 minutes a day, which it’s likely you’ll achieve, than saying you’re going to write for 4 hours a day, and then you talk yourself out of it, as the task seems TOO BIG).

So, while various forms of promotion are great, getting your name known is fantastic, etc.

Don’t overly concentrate on this stuff at the beginning.

I don’t want to ever hear anyone who hasn’t been working on their website for at least 6-9 months going on about their “brand”, and “making their website look attractive”, and looking at social media, PPC, YouTube, etc.

Yes, these are all viable options, and things that many of us will do, but build your foundations first PLEASE.

Once you have experience, you can completely change the way you approach things, as it’s likely you’ll learn what works FOR YOU and what doesn’t.

And in truth, this is all I have done with this website (and pretty much all the other websites I own).

Find EASY TO RANK KEYWORDS and then write articles.

Once more, THAT’S IT.

So, no social media other than sharing via a plugin (the worst way to do social media)… The word “social” should give you a clue. If you’re going to do social media, then act on those platforms in exactly the same way you do at Wealthy Affiliate.

But, this hasn’t bothered me.

No making of YouTube videos.

No comments/feedback via the WA platform (I have done this a few times with the website, but it’s definitely not a regular occurrence - Once in the last 15 months).

No SEO Plugin (so, no meta titles, meta description, no focus keywords, none of that nonsense).

No “building a brand”.

No PPC (paying for traffic, all my traffic is FREE).

Just find GREAT keywords (don’t 100% trust the figures that ANY keyword tool tells you, go check that stuff out for yourself - included below, how I do this).

So, here’s all the WA blog posts that cover what I do:

Partha’s Guide to Keyword Research Part 1

Partha’s Guide to Keyword Research Part 2

How to Research and Structure an Article

How to Write the Perfect Blog Post

Why I Don’t Use SEO Plugins

Why I Don’t Use Keyword Research Tools

That’s it, and this is pretty much a course in itself.

Read the above blog posts (probably a good 60-90 minutes of reading there).

Then read them again.

Practice

Read them again.

Really, really, really try to understand the process.

Practice.

Read them again.

Follow it.

SUCCESS.

Yesterday’s Traffic

Okay, so I mentioned that the 3,313 UNIQUE visitors I received yesterday came as a bit of a surprise.

I would generally expect around 2,300-2,600 visitors at the weekend currently.

So, after some investigation, I’ve found why I’ve received the “extra” traffic.

I often receive traffic from Google Discover.

This is the smartphone app that gives people a scrolling Google news feed on their phones.

Plus, Google will usually provide “news items” that are relevant to what they believe that person likes and prefers (remember, Big Brother is always watching… most websites collect data, so they are aware of your searches and preferences, i.e stay away from the porn, yeah, I see you!!)

Anyway, Google Discover usually pops by the exercise website just after the main Google Core Updates.

So, these are in November and May.

I’ll then usually have a run of Google Discover traffic for around 8-9 weeks, which seems to produce about 20,000-30,000 visitors in total.

Always nice to receive something unexpected.

So, one of my articles was featured in Google Discover and this produced 410 visitors yesterday.

This ONE article typically receives anywhere from 25-55 visitors a day, so you could say it received a huge boost from Google Discover.

However, it doesn’t end there.

The article was obviously picked by someone on Reddit, who also happened to be quite a popular member of a subreddit.

They spoke about trying a new type of workout, and provided a link to my article on this workout.

Yesterday alone, the article received a further 719 visitors from Reddit.

AND TODAY so far (my analytics is set to start the day at 8am UK time, so at the time of writing, in only 3.5 hours today, this same article has already received 61 visitors from Google Discover and 82 visitors from Reddit - plus don’t forget the website has LOADS more articles producing traffic).

Now, what could be of interest is to note that I have received 1000s of “additional” visitors without going after them.

Basically, I perform keyword research, write articles, etc. in order to rank in the search engines and receive organic traffic.

However, while everyone else is working on their own social media, branding, videos, basically anything that stops you from actually writing articles for their website… I’m actually receiving traffic from these other sources.

So, without specifically chasing social media, and other forms of traffic, my articles are getting shared there anyway.

And this is why I keep it simple.

Great keywords, write the article, great keywords, write the article, great keywords, write the article.

STOP COMPLICATING THIS.

They look like very encouraging figures here Partha.. especially for such a young website!

Any organic traffic is still free traffic wherever it comes from in my book and I am happy to hear that Google Discover has deemed your content worthy of sharing thus bolstering your traffic even more!

Keep it easy, keep it simple, rinse and repeat then enjoy the success my friend!!!!!! :-)))

A post I wrote in January received 1906 clicks on Discover in the past 28 days, and there are two more that received 21 and 84 clicks.

I like to use your methods because they are simple and work well.
I manage to find question-type keywords with Quora and Reddit on the first page. I also structure the posts the way you advise.

I finally have some posts in positions 1 and 2 on the first page of Google.

Thank you.

Hey Debora,

I absolutely loved reading this, and I am so pleased for you.

In fact, you're going to be my new poster girl, Hahahaha!!

Read it
Understood it
Put it into action
Now starting to reap the rewards

Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat.

Perfect...

A brilliant job well one.

Partha

Thank you, Partha.
I hope this success will be long lasting.
Since I work from 9 to 5 and have a family to take care of, I don’t have time to do all sorts of things.
That’s why I like to keep it simple and do the one thing that works best for me.

Inspiring as always...actually, I spent a few hours recently just creating keyword clusters as you've taught, and built out 3 categories, following your methods. I'm exclusively writing articles doing it your way now, with the google keyword search method. This is the first time I'm abandoning QSR and Jaxxy, and also just cancelled my Surfer SEO membership. I like the idea of keeping things simple and your articles and trainings are the inspiration moving forward. Thanks!

I got a blunt question for you PP. You discussed the growth of your exercise website and receiving unique visitors. The numbers are great. How are you capturing these visitors? What about your sales conversion? I am a fan of capturing leads (autoresponder) through a sales funnel and nurturing my leads, which leads to sales. I know you and Diane’s goal is to write informational articles, not make them salesy. How do you make your site turn into passive generating income without capturing your leads? That is what I don't get?

To be honest BB, your comment deserves an entire blog post from me, rather than a simple reply (I may actually do this next week, and really break everything down).

However, I've made no secret that my main business model is ad income, plus I don't think many people are aware of the huge revenues you can earn...

I guess this comes down to what we hear from other people, and the fact that most people only seem to know about adsense.

However, with the premium ad networks you can make a huge amount of money.

This does depend on the time of year, but even looking at my two externally-hosted websites, they're averaging around $43 per 1,000 visitors so far this year (both websites get a LOT more traffic than the exercise site I've mentioned here, in fact both are getting AT LEAST double the traffic), plus ad income is not at its greatest until the final 3 months of the year (I have averaged $70-100 per 1,000 visitors at that time of the year).

So, I'll let you do the maths (math for you Americans) yourself.

I know you're not a fan of ads, but the premium ad networks can make things look great.

They even provide their own WordPress themes, add videos within your content, which are actually ads, and they test everything for you (you have an account manager)... basically, they want you to earn as much as possible, as this means they earn too.

Plus, informational articles will typically get more traffic than a product review, unless the product is very well-known.

I can write an informational article in less than 20% of the time I can write a product review (plus, my research time for ANY niche is minimal when it comes to informational articles)...

Informational articles can rank for ZERO traffic or

PP, I respect your opinions. We can agree to disagree!!! USA vs UK eh?

Americans are obsessed with the “shiny object syndrome,” that’s why we got so many MLM companies here. Many people focus on a fancy wealthy lifestyle. I am like you not into that but I am into affiliate marketing.

You’re into informational articles with ad network monetization.

I GET IT (BSL finger spelling with two hands).

That takes years to get to $10k a month or more. I am not into that. Will I ever have ad network on my site? More likely not ( I am hard nosed to impress about ad networks). I found many people (according to my research and surveys collected through use of quizzes )including myself hate (dislike) ads on a website. They are annoying and distracting. I’m not impressed with the amount of money-that’s low.

Email marketing works and it’s not an old tactic, (that’s your dang own opinion) it’s not dead as you think. It’s not hard, pretty easy to capture leads. I subscribe to many email lists and they provide great information much better than reading a 3 to 4k blog article. It’s fast and much easier to nurture your leads for life than to generate unique visitors and never capture them. They are lost in the muck of the faceless wonders of the Internet. A great way to lose sales, gawd, spare me. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Very Impressive results my friend!!!

It sounds like after reading your post and Diane's (Old Fluff) comment, if I would've hooked up with y'all in my younger days there is no telling what would have happened, but it probably wouldn't have been good... lol

In saying that, y'all both be good, and if not don't name it after me... Haha
