This isn't a specific online problem, more of an advice question. See TL:DR below.
Thus far, I've been able to jump through many of the hoops of creating an online busin
Well, definitely put pen to paper, then hang it up somewhere you'll see it! Hang it in the bathroom mirror, the refrigerator, WHEREVER! You can also make a small goal. When you get in a funk, write on your fridge something like "No dinner until I write one new paragraph!" If you do this, you'll be more likely to stick with it. PLUS, once you write one paragraph, you'll tend to write more.
I also listening to some upbeat music to pump me up, or I write down some financial goals!
You just have to get excited about it again :)
Picture yourself ONLY writing as a job :) That's a good thing to do!
Also to get people to engage put something at the bottom of each page like "What do you guys think? Any questions or comments?" Make it bold so that people will see it. What's your website URL?
Thank you, this is some very good advice that I will incorporate. I normally do ask for engagement, but I just found an app where it allows visitors to take online quizzes. Here's the url: http://learnthatmaths.com
Well that's cool. You're website looks pretty good :) Be sure to put a picture of yourself on your "about me" page though! It makes people more comfortable. But, yeah, I don't know how many comments you would get because I know when I was looking online for an answer to a math question, I just hurried along and jumped off! However, you neeeeeed comments for your site to get ranked. I see that your most recent comment was back in October. Google is ruthless so be sure to get comments from WA member. Google doesn't care that they're not people actually looking for math answers :)
That input is extremely valuable. I hadn't really thought about the comments from that perspective...I do have a small worry for the future though. When I start laying out the information for the higher level maths, it's going to be difficult to get quality comments, simply because a lot of people aren't exposed to that information regularly. Thankfully, that hasn't been the case for the more generous level maths, so I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there. Hmm...I may be able to find another way to increase engagement too. Thanks, a lot to think on.
Of course, I like to help in whatever little way I can! Well maybe with the Higher level Maths, you'll have more people actually asking you how a specific part of the formula works? well you'll see when you get there professor! Don't get stressed out about things you haven't gotten to yet. Maybe you'll find the answer along the way.

Any advice wa could offer for consistency?

I honestly think that creating content mechanically over and over again will only take you so far.
I have heard it said that nearly all people fail at internet marketing because they spend 98% of their time doing things that only yield 2% of their results.
I have tried the 'brute force' method of content creation for 18 months and it hasn't worked all that well.
Of course, I try to refine the process and make each post better than the last but this is difficult to do if I'm just trying to reach 'x posts' in a week/month ect.
Also, I stopped asking for 'comments' months ago from WA (because all I got was tons of 'feedback'/spam) and I haven't seen my rankings drop. I have also heard from other sources that comments aren't actually that big of a ranking factor.
So I honestly wouldn't worry about comments on the higher level maths post - just architect the content in a way that is useful/solves a problem for your target audience.
With all that said, I'm still struggling myself so take what I have just said with a wheelbarrow full of salt.
Good luck.
Huh, That's very interesting! I thought for sure that comments helped. I know the when I check what pages of mine are ranked, it's normally ones with comments. Hey I could be wrong to (I've made a grand total of 0.00$ but hey I'm just getting started!)
I totally agree about forcing yourself. For me though, if I make myself start writing, it seems to flow naturally. I guess it's true that a lot of people aren't like that though!
I was getting pretty spammy comments. I just didn't accept them. Kyle actually says in training that if the comment isn't specifically talking about your comment, then it's spam, so don't accept it! Plus, when you reject someone's comment, it tells them why, so if we all do that, the spammers will get the hint! Almost all of the comments I get are good now :) (victory dance) and if it's not, I just reject them and wait for another comment to roll in!
[Relevant] comments are only going to help your site - but possibly not to the magnitude that we are led to believe.
Yeah, if there's any engagement, that's the important thing. That's why my main focus is to make sure that my model will indeed engage people to either stay on the page for a while, and possibly go to another page, or give a comment. I'm hoping that as soon as my website has a big enough content amount on it that's quality, it'll spread like wildfire.
Khan Academy has lots of videos and places where a person can practice what they've learned. What it doesn't have is content...that's instructional text of some sort, so once I get that information out, I can become a pretty strong competitor. If Sal doesn't hire someone to write soon, then I'll have a leg up on him then. I'm also doing videos and those are getting better, but I'm in need of some new hardware and software, and I'm sure once I get that and get it to the right audience, those will spread as well.
Yes definitely! Videos are a huge plus! (As long as they're good quality- so again, good job with waiting for the software" I forgot about Khan Academy haha. You're right! They don't have content. Keep trying and one day- way down the road since it takes a long time to build authority, I think you'll be s very good competitor!
