The 80 20 Rule - How Are you Promoting Yourr Site Contents?

Recently, I read an interesting article that we should spend 80% of our time promoting our website's contents or blog posts and just 20% of our time creating contents on our sites.
But now I forgot where I got the article from. :)
Now, the thing is, we may take quite a long time (80%) creating those beautiful and quality contents on our sites and yet just spent 20% of the time promoting it, are we doing justice to our beautifully-quality contents? Think about it. would you? :)
As such ... let us spend more time (80%) promoting what we have just created, those quality contents, and only 20% of the time to create those blog post or contents.
We can always promote our created contents or blog posts on social media, web2.0 properties or email marketing, etc.
Presently, I am using article marketing and web 2.0 properties to promote my blog posts only ... I have not started on social media yet, I need to do that too ... ha... ha...

Pareto 80/20 principle could be the best principle I've ever learned. In Six Sigma, the first thing they taught us is that a good black belt is a lazy black belt which means that you must work smart -- not hard. Bill Gates also says that Lazy always find easy ways to get things done.
I just created last week twitter, facebook, linkedIn branded accounts for my sites and developed about 3,000 followers so far. I develop Google+ branded accounts this week as well and hope I get people to visit my sites. Hence, start making sales :)

I was taught the other way round lol, but this you wrote makes sense, going to put some extra zeal into promoting :)

The 80/20 rule is the Pareto Principal and it means that 20% of anything you do in life yields 80% of the results. Hew was a botanist who observed that 20 of his crop produced 80% of the seeds for the next one. Further observation and rigorous scientific testing has shown this to stand up in virtually any area of life so it is accepted as a law of physics.

This is the Pareto Principle of 80/20 that has been applied to almost every good topic. In this case, it's very interesting to spend 80% promoting! This past month, I did spend much more time developing promotional strategies and less time writing content. I think it was the right thing to do. Thank you for writing this.

very interesting, it is easier to promote than it is to write new posts or articles, the more you promote the easier it is to write because it keeps you focussed on your site and what you are doing. Doing both keeps you more engaged all round.
