I used an html file in the header of my old website to verify my site. It was working perfectly until I transferred my website. Google says it can no longer verify the site.<

No you do not need to delete site. Just need to login to analytics get the code and I can show you how to install it on your site.

Thanks Sotiris, just sent message on messenger

Has the theme been updated?

You may want to use the WP Code plugin to add the script in the header so that when your theme updates, you do not lose the code and have to do it again.

You can also do it in the Ad Inserter Plugin.

It was on Elementor and I rebuilt the website on GeneratorPress then transferred it to the domain. So, technically, it's a brand new website on an old domain.

I just can't see on Google Search Console how to access the html file which is why I think the website has to be deleted and re-added as a new property

Okay, I appreciate the update. Thank you.

I have a website that currently consistently ranks high on Google - usually around 3 - 5 on search engines.

The website was built for me a few years ago using Elementor.

If you feel stuck in the how to... you can always ask site support...

As for a new website vs an old one... make sure to redirect the old site to the new one, so you do not loose traffic

Ps
Make sure to make backups... in case things go banana

Thank you -

If you website ranks well... why change?

Never change a winning horse...

Better set up something new with the new hubs environment

I was having difficulty editing outdated products and services and creating new ones especially adding pages and adjusting menus. I wanted something that is easier for me to amend

Yuk indeed...

The best solution depends on your specific needs and goals. However, based on the context given, a reasonable approach would be:

1. Evaluate the Necessity of Elementor: If the advanced design features provided by Elementor Pro are not crucial for the website's functionality or user experience, you might consider removing the plugin. This is particularly relevant if maintaining the site with Elementor is challenging or if the design elements are not essential for the site's main purpose.

2. Backup the Website: Before making any changes, ensure you have a complete backup of your website. This includes all files and the database. Use a backup plugin or ask your hosting provider for assistance in creating this backup. Having a backup ensures you can restore the website to its current state if needed.

3. Assess Content and Design Impact: Understand that removing Elementor will affect the site's design but not the core content created within WordPress. If the design elements are important for user engagement or convey critical information, consider how you can replicate or redesign these elements using WordPress's native features or another plugin.

4. Explore WordPress Native Solutions: Look into WordPress's own block editor (Gutenberg) and other plugins that might offer the design flexibility you need without the complexities of Elementor. This might also improve your website's performance if you find a lighter-weight solution.

5. Consult with Experts: If unsure, seek advice from web development experts or the WordPress and Elementor communities. They can offer insights into the pros and cons of removing Elementor based on your website's specific needs.

6. Implement Gradually: If you decide to remove Elementor, do so gradually. Test the website's functionality and design on a staging environment first. This approach allows you to make adjustments and solve any issues without affecting the live site.

7. Monitor Website Performance and Rankings:After making changes, closely monitor your website's performance and search engine rankings. Ensure that the removal of Elementor and any design changes do not negatively impact your site's user experience or visibility.

This approach balances the need to simplify website management with the importance of maintaining content integrity, design quality, and search engine rankings.

Ps
Ask site support to make a staging website for you, so you can experiment without dammage

Based on what you have said above and that the important parts are done:

1. same(ish) content
2. same permalink structure (URLs)

You'll be fine.

Once done, update your sitemap in Google search console. Basically resubmit it and everything should be fine.

Hi Karen,

I'm really, really confused by the process you've gone through.

So, let me just put my thought process down, and then you can tell/ask me what you want to do next.

Elementor is simply a drag-and-drop page builder plugin that is used on WordPress, which is a content management system (CMS).

In other words, you can't have Elementor without having a WordPress website (although admittedly I've never used it, so I'm unaware if they can be used on other CMS's).

But, your original website I'm guessing is built on WordPress.

Elementor will usually be installed as a plugin.

So, if you don't wish to use Elementor you simply disable the plugin and then you have access to all the "normal" WordPress features.

When you disable Elementor you will lose any advanced designs that you made with Elementor Pro,

At a guess, you would still use the WordPress Content Editor to actually write and add your content (again, I've read a lot about Elemntor over the years, but never used it, so I'm just taking an educated guess here).

So, if you remove the Elementor plugin you will lose any advanced DESIGN elements that were created with it, but surely the actual written content, which I'm guessing was written on the WordPress content editor, should remain?

What I'm basically saying is if you simply remove a PLUGIN, it will remove the features that were created with THAT plugin, but everything else on your website should remain.

This being the case your website would still remain intact as is, and therefore retain its rankings (it's the same website it just looks different).

Would removing certain design features affect your rankings?

Hmmm, perhaps, but you're mainly ranking on the helpfulness of your CONTENT (produced in WordPress), and the overall authority of your website.

So, did you really need to create a completely new website?

I would suggest that before removing/deleting Elementor you take a backup of your site (if hosted externally, see if your host has backups, and install a backup plugin and get your own backup, or if hosted here ask SiteSupport for a backup before you do anything).

That's my thinking anyway Karen.

Hopefully, there is someone who actually uses Elementor who can confirm or deny what I'm saying.

Plus, there is an Elemnetor-specific community:

https://elementor.com/community/

But, in my mind, there's no need to have done all the hard work you have done, you just simply needed to remove a plugin (as far as I'm concerned your WRITTEN content would remain).

Partha

Hi Partha,

Thanks for replying and your comments.

Removing the plugin was my first thought and I thought it would be that simple, remove it.

However, I did some research and discovered that Elementor uses coding in the background. If you remove the plugin you are usually just left with gibberish on the website.

Hmmm.. I always assumed that if you removed Elementor all your content still remains, but the posts and pages you made with Elementor you wouldn't be able to edit, but they're still viewable on the front end.

Sorry, not much help really am I, LOL!

Hopefully, an Elementor user will turn up and help and you can always reach out to their community.

I'd also say Reddit would be a good source, there's bound to be a few threads where people have asked similar questions.

Sorry again!! :(

Hi Karen

I’m not an Elementor page builder guy, but I would have done it your way because:

1 - I’ve also heard that Elementor leaves a lot of unnecessary code on your site when you uninstall it.

2 - You can make any necessary formatting adjustments without Elementor to all your posts at your leisure. Then when you’re ready to transfer the site it’s “one and done.”

Definitely make a complete copy of your original site before you do the transfer, just in case something unanticipated happens!

Just my opinion. 😎

Hey Karen,

Can you confirm whether it's the ARTICLE or the VIDEO experiencing "indexing problems".

There has been a new video indexing feature included with GSC over the last 18 months.

And this will often produce reports in GSC stating "Video Outside Viewport" or "Video Not in Main Content of Page"...

This is only an issue if YOU CREATED THE VIDEO.

Basically, it's saying that the VIDEO hasn't been indexed BUT this in NO WAY affects the indexing of your article (you can check the indexing in Google by typing in site:yourwebsitename.com + related keyword to your article <--Obviously replace with your actual website name and the the actual keyword after the +).

Essentially, if it's NOT your video you don't really care whether the video is indexed or not, it will still be available and viewable to readers of your article.

The easiest "fix" is to put the video "above the fold", so that when someone visits an article of yours they can see the video immediately WITHOUT having tp scroll.

But, once more, I repeat, if YOU didn't create the video this can be ignored.

I'll list 3 recent "questions" on the platform talking about this, I have responded to each one, so you can read my comments there.

Additionally, Phil (feigner) has provided a "fix", which involves changing the width of videos in mobile view...

BUT

Once more... go on Karen, you know the drill now, LOL, it DOESN'T MATTER if you didn't create that video yourself.

If you're simply embedding other people's videos into your content, IGNORE, this is NOT related to the indexing of your ARTICLE (go and check in Google).

Here's the 3 recent discussions: Partha

You can do a "Test Live URL" for your post in GSC and see if that gives you helpful info.

Frank 🎸

I suggest you include more content around the video content and how it relates to your topic.

Also, check that you comply with all technical aspects.

Newydd, Hello, I believe your current website that you are trying to put Google AdSense on has to be at least six months old to activate the AdSense. Have a great weekend.

Larry

Hi - sorry, that is simply not true, the age of the website is irrelevant.

This may also help. (four-year-old blog post)

Thanks Abbie, there is one tip I don't comply with in the article and that is the 6-month rule. That could be the holdup.

I may have to go back to the tried and tested private ads.

Thanks again - good to know

Private ads are better; you are in control and if you have adequate traffic, you may apply for ad networks instead.

I wouldn't say I like AdSense, as they clutter websites.

Hi - you may wish to read my post.

I comply with everything mentioned in your post.

I have 42 posts on the site so more than the 20-30 mentioned in your post. Ratio of 70/30 informative posts to sales posts. Average read time up to 18 mins.

All the codes requested by Adsense have been inserted into the head and verified

Hi - the 6-month rule is misleading, it's not true, and it is not mentioned anywhere in their policies.

I notice you have 3 websites listed in your profile, obviously, I don't know which one you have submitted.

But, I wonder if you have any duplicate content repeated across the sites?

If so, and the site you have submitted for AdSense contains material you have published elsewhere, it will be seen as duplicate.

I have 3 listed here but 10 sites in total. Each one has a different purpose. All blogs are unique.

There is a duplication though on policies but where needed the are customer to each site

Legal requirements won't be seen as duplicate.

Happy to take a look (tomorrow) at the submitted site, if you want to send me a PM.

But do be aware that AdSense only pays around $5 per 1000 visitors and will slow down your site, so perhaps not worth pursuing?

If you have more than 10,000 visitors per month, there are better options such as Monumetric.

Just checked the website and they have now noted everything in compliance and the site is being reviewed.

Thanks for your help

Does anyone use software for keeping track of internal and external links on blogs along with updating blogs and other resources?

I repurpose blogs or create blogs as

I use Evernote to keep track of all my stuff there is also a Gmail app I use but it only works on Computer not on a phone or you can use Google Task Manager on your phone which is free.

Thank you Sotiris

I'm using Excel spreadsheet with colour coding to manage blogs - but as I get more blogs the links are getting harder to monitor. It is too manual. I need automation and a simpler life !!

I'll give you a shout next week. Looking to run a summit in January if you are interested. Putting the feelers out and wanting to keep speakers to clients.

I also use this one :-)

Project Management Tools - I use Monday.com.
Others include Trello and Asana.

Content Management Systems (CMS) - I use WordPress and, at some point, Ruby on Rails.

SEO and Link Management Tools:
SEMrush
Ahrefs
Moz

Digital Asset Management Software:
Adobe Experience Manager
Bynder

Collaboration and File Management Tools - I use Google Workspace.
Others include Microsoft 365.

Mind Mapping and Brainstorming Tools:
MindMeister
XMind

Content Calendar Software:
CoSchedule
ContentCal

Social Media Management Tools - I use Later.com.
Others include Hootsuite, Buffer, and Sprout Social.

Customized Databases - I use Notion.
Others include Airtable.

thank you, Abbie, some good ones there I can look at.

I was kinda of hoping some genius had come up with an all-in-one package

Sometimes, it isn't favorable because if one item is messed up, it may affect others. For example, my domain name trading account is with one provider, while hosting is with another. The same goes for email building and social media marketing, which are with other providers, and so on.

But I hear you :)

Well where I think of is Microsoft Projects of each blogs, video etc , you can make a project.

What I also know is that Canva has a content planning system, but I donot have the experience with Canva.

And maybe you can look at Wrike, its a newly planning / project saas Application

If the solution should be simpler you can use Excel from microsoft

thank you for the suggestions
