Rank 51 - Ooh, what a 'surprise', how on earth did THAT happen
How my rank went to 51:
1. Posting frequently for a little while and last week for 3 days in a row, [yeah, look around at who has figured that out, I hope my posts were more than infotainment though ;) ]
2. Having to deal with enormous amounts of WA emails, currently 570 Unopened Emails in the Trash from the past week alone, and 3260 unopened emails in my WA Folder from the past few months representing a fraction of those I actually did open.
3. I got into this hyperactivity by initially answering questions from my referrals, then answering other newbie questions, then drifted into taking an interest in the community - but at what cost?
TIME
Today I spent a very long time deleting unopened emails from WA from my inbox and they are just the ones that arrived today.
I don't open subjects that aren't either related to the training or of particular interest to me, and I feel it is now becoming politically incorrect to call these 'social' or 'crazy' even if they are social or crazy or break the spam rules.
570 UNOPENED emails are a fraction of the total number of emails I receive
And so in the past week alone I have 570 unopened emails in my trash can and easily the same amount of opened ones that cost me even more time to go in and tell me my comment was liked, 'thanks for the info'.

I had opened the 'great news a comment of yours has been liked' ones in case people needed a reply to a question, however I can't do that anymore. I already posted a pic in one of my recent blogs of what a friend of mine made in the time I was opening and replying to comments on one of my posts this past week and that was a fraction of the time I spent on WA in that day alone - not doing training but answering comments and reading blogs.
I'd dearly like to look back on my week and say that I had spent an entire day on the training or on improving my website, as much as I was 'liked' this past week and 'rose in status to almost being in the top 50, I don't like myself very much for wasting my precious time and life with no return or real satisfaction, even if my rank is now 51
3260 Unopened emails in my WA folder
My WA emails are already filtered into a WA folder and that currently has 3260 unopened emails in there. And I have just as many opened ones in there too. But let's do the math:
ONE HOUR A DAY READING WA EMAILS = ONE WORKING DAY
When I look back on my week I'd love to say I spent an entire day doing the training in here rather than reading the blogs and liking and being liked in here.
So apologies to anyone who knows this already, however, this week I also found a training 'for newbies' made by a member and telling them it was very important for them to do all this and I'm here to say IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO DO THIS, and in fact it is not even wise - unless you are the sort of person who actually wants to hang out in a pseudo-facebook type environment for huge amounts of your life, which is NOT the original intention of the platform but it tends to drift that way.
Is WA the best place to be?
YES. WA has the best resources and best priced resources anywhere online, it is the easiest place to get online professionally however the platform needs some revision in terms of their focus on WA rank, and I believe this will happen.
Meantime I am leaving posts on my blog as advice to my referrals not to be led astray or caught up in the facebook aspect to the platform. Some good blogs will appear on the platform and there is an exchange in questions and answers, watch out for them mostly and don't let any activity distract you from your goals, no matter how much noise is around you just focus.
I've had to switch off receiving emails from WA in my account settings today, I've done this in the past and missed out some important emails so it is not my preference but I'm done with wasting time guys.
I came here for the resources, and some day I hope WA rank and those at the top will be truly something we can all look up to and be proud of, but today it is not.
In future if my rank rises it is because I'm being truly productive - that is why the superaffiliates have high rank, the system actually does reward real work in here, but without filters it also rewards silly stuff too.

Update: some people have misunderstood what I said about 'likes', it is natural to use the like button when you like a comment, great. I like natural likes. But I was referring to 'like-gaming', which is a concept those on the platform a little while are familiar with. And also that people can also get addicted to being 'liked', needing a certain quota in a day. I do believe however that just as google updates its algorithms to determine the content that ranks in the SERPS, so too will WA, as this platform is an excellent model and introduction to how things work online.

Jovo, there's no email coming into my inbox now, I can go into my blog straight from WA and in 1 minute go through all the comments. Yes, all the people congratulating me on my rank seem to either not have read my post or didn't quite get it. But thank YOU for liking it, that means something ;)
I actually came in to edit something this time and saw these. I also will pop into the blogs of people I know and trust for good content, see you soon then ;)
I probably spend more time on WA answering questions than I should. However, I don't feel too bad about it because in the grand scheme of things it does help me keep active on WA and a side effect of that is that I'm more active on my websites. Otherwise I tend to neglect and forget about my websites.
if it works for you then fine, but an hour sorting WA emails wasn't a good start to my day...and I literally don't get the training done if I'm in here
I don't sort my WA emails. I just basically come straight to WA and just look at my notifications. Although once a year I search through my email and delete all of the WA notification emails. The training and working on your websites should definitely be the number one priority.
Hm, maybe I'll see if I can use the notifications better - thanks - but I couldn't delete stuff once a year, once a day was time consuming enough!
It's not really too time consuming. I can search my entire email based off the "from" email address wa uses to send the notifications, subject line, certain sentences in the body of the emIl, etc. Then I can mass delete all of them in one go
which email provider are you on? my old one used to allow mass delete not anymore though, thanks for the tip on using the green notifications button though, I tend to scroll it now instead, I'm not sure I get everything but boy it saves time! :)
