Https error uploading images problem solved, tip from above!

I can't take credit for this, I must admit to doing Kyle and Carson's head in with this one - my images 'were not uploading' and I could see from the screams across google it was potentially a widespread issue in wordpress itself, yet while it has happened to a lot of people it doesn't affect everyone.

Constant https error message and images not loading - I was told to refresh the media page - simply go up to the top left and hit refresh like you would do to an internet page after you've uploaded and can't see your image. My images are now appearing, actually several appeared because when it doesn't upload first time of course it's natural to make several attempts if you don't see it first time. Obviously only do this if you have a problem, I would't normally hit refresh in WP!

This little trick has just saved me using ftp and several other possible longer hacks. There are many different reasons images may not upload but this short solution is worth a try.

Thank you

I had the exact same issue last night!

I didn't get any https error or loading messages at all.

I saw they weren't loading and noticed at the bottom of the 'select files' that it stated 'maximum upload file size 32 MB so I thought I had to resize my pics on my computer files. I tried it with one image and still didn't load.

This did not happen before I added the Image Optimization plugin.

Then I went to my media library and was surprised to see the images I uploaded were actually there! I had duplicates for 2 of them since I tried twice.

I wonder if this will get fixed as SiteSpeed issues get addressed while still in Beta. That they we will see images appear right away as we upload them as before.

mine didn't get fixed with site speed or ewww, Kyle answered this post to say they might do a patch - though it is across the entire web with wordpress, not specifically WA...however I do notice that subsequent images are uploading fine now after the first refresh - well when I say 'fine', my first experience of ewww is that my banners are small and not readable!

Oh no. I will find out tonight when I write up my post and use these images! thanks

I just checked my banners and they are ok...

Thanks for sharing, Moz.

thanks for the help

It's great you've found a solution Moz. A lot of people were having this problem.

thanks! I'd been recommended to use ftp by site support at one point or a drop box but saw Kyle making comments that ftp should not be necessary so pursued this.

This is a bug with Wordpress and we are looking into a way to fix this on our end. It was initiated a few versions back and we are hopefully going to come up with a patch where we can fix this issue from our end.

Thanks for that. I had the same issue about a month ago and it never got resolved. I might just give this a try and see if it works.

Thank you. Valuable info

Hi,
Any chance we could see the page with the images?

Gloria

Thank you Moz, I will be creating a site shortly with many images, this will help!

Wishing you great success!

Gloria

Here is the pic with some arrows, the refresh button and the images that appeared in duplicate in the media library

not all sites have the problem, hopefully the issue won't come up for you :)
