Anti-Spam and Exclude Pages from Navigation Plugins Are Not Necessary at WA
I'm seeing a lot of confusion in the beginner's classroom today with people wondering about installing anti-spam plugins and the exclude pages from navigation plugin. And many people tellling them to install both of these, however that is no longer necessary.
WA hosting has eliminated the need for the antispam plugins, the beginners course is currently in the process of being updated, people may have missed some blogs on this over the past few months so I'm going to post below some advice on these that has been posted recently.
It also seems people are now opting to exclude pages from navigation manually without a plugin, so it seems that plugin is also not necessary - if someone knows more on that please inform!

Hi, Patsy! First, regarding the Aksimet Anti-Spam plug-in, when Kyle and Carson through the support staff designed the "SiteProtect" Spam Blocker at some point last year, (can't exactly remember when) they informed members that it would be no longer necessary to have other Anti-Spam plug-ins activated for a website. It would just be redundant.

Here is what I am sure about:
- Akismet - not needed
- Exclude Pages from Navigation - I removed long ago.
- AIO must be there.

The Exclude Pages from Navigation mentioned in the course isn't available on WordPress any longer.

Just small comment to avoid misunderstanding, I was talking about Sitemap plugin not about sitemap itself. You have all needed for sitemap in AIO so no need for extra plugin.
Thanks for clarifying that no extra sitemap plugins are necessary apart from AIO!

At first I had Google sitemap on all my websites, then I thought, that can be done by AIO too, so I deleted the sitemap plugin from Google and tried to enter the AIO sitemap, at first it wouldn't accept it, with a lot of ooo's and aaaa's it finally did, and then it looked not complete, very different from the Google one, so I changed it back
Yes due to software updates both Anti-spam and Exclude pages are now both built in and are done without the need for the plugins.
AIO or Yoest MUST be installed.
I would not recommend removing your sitemap as u use this to notify Google to crawl, index and rank your site when u do changes to your website (like making corrections, adding new content, redoing old work, etc.). When u do the changes u then need to go to Google Seach Console and resubmit your sitemap to trigger to look at the new changes and to index and rank new content. Hope this helps
