Long Time No See - Leaving WA?

Dear friends.

It is true! My last blog was in May and I didn't write content for my sites for a long time, either.

This is partly because I have a new full time job (which I really like).
But that is not the only reason.
After my vacation in December, I just couldn't get back into the flow.
Before, I published 3 posts a week. And it was easy to do so.
After, I just couldn't get back into it anymore.

That's rather sad, as my main site has around 100 posts/pages and still sees around 1000 organic visitors every month. It earns some money, too, but not more than a few cents here and there.

At the moment I just can't motivate myself to write. I always tell myself to work at least one hour a day on my main site.
That's not really much, but still better than nothing.

My yearly subscribtion runs out in July and I am really considering to leave WA.
If I keep doing nothing, it would be a waste of money. And I could move my sites to another hosting company which I can use for free.

Maybe you guys can show me the way back to WA and internet marketing. :)

All the best

Moritz

I do hope you can see your way to stay. Remember, the darkest hour is just before the light!! :)

Thanks!
Wise words I need to consider! :)

Whatever you decide, please back-up your sites the correct way, I have heard, a normal back-up is stripping all your plugins and will leave your website as wreck.
Here is a training in case of leaving WAQ

I can't tell you what to do, it's just how you feel about it, what value it is to you, and which price you are willing to pay to belong to this community.

When I want to be a member of the local rotary, the price to enter the cantina is over $1000 a year. (not even a free drink)

An abonnement on the fitness, where I only went occasionally was €35 a month.

What is WA to me?

I saw your name, and though, Hé MORITZ! That's long ago:))

Loes

Thanks for your input, Loes.

I don't think WA is expensive. Best training out there, no doubt.
But when I just don't use it anymore, it's money I could use for other things. The last few months I wasn't a part of the community anymore anyways.

Well, decision has not been made yet. :)
If I manage to get back into the flow, I might just stay!

Cheers

Hi Moritz, the hard thing is to pick the momentum up if you pause along the line to have a breather. Think it happens to a lot of folks so
you are not alone. Just looking at your site good job, I would say stick with it. So much work , I think it will happen.

Thanks a lot.
It is true, that I put a lot of work into this. 8 months I worked really hard and then suddenly couldn't pick it up anymore, after a holiday.

Not giving up completely, though.
If I leave, it won't be forever. :)

Your decision is stil open till July. You leave or not. It been great to get to know you. I learn something from your acrhery site.
You have already publish book on amazon kindle which mean you are on a right track.
Keep in touch Moritz

Thanks.
That means a lot to me. :)

Moritz, I can fully understand what you are saying and feeling. So, back to one of your last sentences above, we had a lot of discussion recently about micro niche sites. I started two, and one of them is super-micro, a kind of experiment. This could make difference so think about this a bit. Can send you more info. I see Josh mentioned this below as well.

Thanks Jovo for your input and your PM. :)

Of course it's up to you, but from my perspective you are doing great.

Thanks man.
Problem is that I haven't done anything for a few months. :(
I was doing well, but motivation is at its worst at the moment.

I will try to turn it around again.
Cheers

I'm not sure what to tell you. Perhaps you could really try writing a few articles between now and when your membership expires. See if you can g we t back into working on your site. But if after trying his you still find yourself struggling and not writing maybe taking a break is what you need.

Or try switching to monthly to give yourself more time to decide. I can't remember where you live, but if it's summer where you are (after a long winter), it can be hard to get motivated.

Also you mentioned that you really like your job, but that it's new. Maybe it won't be as great as it is now in a few months (hopefully that's not the case)

My suggestion would be to switch to monthly until September or October. If by then you still have no interest in working on your site then maybe it's time to leave.

Hope that helps.

Thank you Tanja.
Always nice hearing from you. :)
Not sure if it's possible to change to monthly. Will check it out.

Yeah, I like my job, but the pay could be better. Enough to live, but not much more. ;)

I used to live in Taiwan, but now I live in the cold north of England.

Will see how it goes.
If I really leave I will let you guys know.

Moritz

I am pretty sure you can switch to monthly. Let me know what you find out!

Hey buddy, did you start a new narrow niche site like you were contemplating in this post: Maybe it will relight the fire?

Hey man.
I did, but it turned out that I was not passionate enough about the chosen niche.
It is still an option, though.
I might give promoting WA a shot. Haven't tried that so far. :)

Thanks.
Moritz

If you have a full-time job that you really like and time to enjoy your life too, then go with the flow. If you feel like exploring and then coming back, why ever not? If part of you feels the need to write, then let that flow too. Sounds like you are on a successful path whichever one you take :)

Nice thoughts. Thank you! :)
I am sure, if I really leave, I would come back one day.
Moritz

Hi Moritz, well it is really depends on you actually. I'm still in WA because some of my clients' websites are hosted here in WA.

Do what is right for you and you are not obligated for anything. I mean, you can always join again next time if you want to come back :-)

Thanks man. :)
You are right. But really struggeling at the moment. Not an easy decision after a relatively long time.
I will try to be a bit more productive the next few weeks and decide then.
Cheers

Okay Moritz, good luck and all the best!
