Hi everyone, as an update SiteSupport says that MailChimp is a 3rd party site so they aren't able to physically do anything on that end. But they have confirmed that from what they can determine, my site speed is running well. I will still look into this on MailChimp side to see if I can reduce my landing page image or any other image that I have used.

Thank you for your comments!

Something I need to look into, thanks for the post

Hey Max,

You may receive advice on this from SiteSupport given that the server now caches our website.

Hope this helps you.

Thank you for your reply! I have submitted a ticket and will update my question so that others will also know what they can do if they encounter the same issue.

Max

An excellent idea Max, and Thank YOU for being so considerate of other members. A nice touch!

You are welcome! I am just getting into mail lists, sign up forms etc but I don't want to sacrifice my website speed for emails.

Hi everyone,

I have read on another post that Site Content automatically optimizes the pictures when you insert them into your post. I usually go on Pixaby site directly

Thanks for the useful comments everyone. Really helpful for us newbies

I re-size all pics to "Web - Small" in MS Office Picture Manager before uploading.

After that, my EWWW Image Optimizer plugin does the rest.

No worries.

Jim

Thank you everyone for your comments. I think I will do a test of posting with photos from site content and another using tinypng and track the speeds on both. I’ve also been using a plug-in but prefer not to use it if possible to cut down on the amount that I’m using.

Site Content seems to be doing a good job of reducing the images I have placed into it. I commonly use my own images. They are coming in at 50 to 100 kb in size once published.

That's just my experience these days.

Use site content but there are some great readying up tips given here first!

I always do both if I use site content.
Matthew

I always optimize images outside SideContent and insert them into the post in my WP page builder.

I do that too. It's quick and easy.

YES i agree with this approach this way you are certain to choose exactly what you want without retracing your steps over again?

Hi everyone,

In Kyle's training on submitting a sitemap to Google's Search Console, he used "sitemap.xml." This is what I submitted. However, I watching one of the pre-r

Your sitemap is generated by your SEO plugin. All In One calls it sitemap.xml and Yoast calls it sitemap_index.xml. You'll want to submit the correct name according to which plugin you use.

Hi Marion, that makes sense as I am using the SEO plugin. I am assuming that WA used Yoast before SEO was introduced? I believe I saw another post on SEO VS Yoast and as far as I can tell, they do the same thing. (Correct me if I am wrong please.)

Thank you for your response!

As far as I know All In One has been the SEO plugin of choice at WA. Some people prefer to use Yoast because it has some different features. When I do a training video that involves SEO plugins I always do one for All in One and one for Yoast.

I've been using Yoast for years but I'm seriously considering changing to All In One.

Please keep us posted on how your SEO journey goes. I for one love to read experiences of what works best for others here. I appreciate all of your training!!

The name of the file doesn't matter. It could be any name you choose. If you submit it to the Google, Bing/Yahoo via Yoast or AIO, that's all that's necessary. However, as it is conventionally named, you will have to edit the robots.txt file to reflect the path to the name of your unique_sitemap.xml for other engine bots to find.

Another thing is that if you want to quickly check your sitemap.xml file via yourdomaindotcom/sitemap.xml, you will have to remember your unique name.

Thank you for the advice. I just checked my domain/sitemap.xml and it works fine. I was just confused as I thought everyone's sitemap was supposed to be the same. Any advantages/disadvantages that you know of editing the robots.txt file?

Thanks again!
