About MMoncur
Joined December 2017
I am a "foodie" on a budget. While I would love to travel the world, wine and dine in high-end restaurants and experiment in the kitchen with exotic and expensive ingredient, my budget does not allow me to do so all the time. I simple LOVE food: to snack on food at work, to watch food channels and competitions on television, to go out and immerse myself in the experience of dining out (even if the cuisine is as simple as a new salad from Wendy's,) to experiment with different recipes at home, the list goes on. To sum everything up, I am not a food snob, I welcome food of every culture, price, size, texture, location, you name it! I love and respect food and want to share my food experiences with others.

I love the salads from Wendy's! They are healthy and taste great! Thank you for sharing this bit about yourself here. Best wishes for lasting success with your food niche. That is your niche, Right? Or have you more than one?

I just added a new niche. It is that from which I see the results you commented on last night. Wendy's? A winner. For sure. Your niche. Will be very intriguing for many. Best wishes for lasting online success!

Hi Max, nice to hear from you. I look forward to getting to know you my new WA friend. Sorry about the delay in responding but I am a bit slow at the moment. Trying to do too many things at once.

Well, from one foodie to another, let's get stuck in and eat together. I make a lot of my specials. I have attached a recent shot of my lemon curd and olives. Lemons from the neighbour's tree and olive from anothe neighbour's tree!

You should do some more blogs here on your profile page. These go into Google too so add to your online profile.

I have left you a comment on your Stop Siblings Arguing post.

If you have time I would love it if you visited one of my websites and left a comment on a post, any one will do. The site addresses are on my profile page.

Keep working hard, having fun and don’t forget to ask questions.

A very nice boss once told me, ‘Helen, when you ask a silly question everyone else breathes a collective sigh of relief because they don’t have to!’ And that is so true. No question is silly so ask away.

If I can’t help I might be able to point you in the right direction.

Now let us keep in touch.

Ciao

Thank you Helen!! For the warm welcome, kind words and excellent advice. I appreciate the comment you left and will head to your profile page and check out your website. I'm excited to do so!

I am actually doing some baking for my family but I have never tried to make my own curd or preserves. Thank you for the inspiration!

When I run into obstacles, I will definitley ask you my silly questions :)

Have a great day!

If you ever get access to fresh olives and want to preserve some let me know. I do them the old fashioned way.

And even friends who hate commercial olives, just gobble them up.

It is very easy but takes time as you have to brine them for several days.

Hi Helen, sorry we do not get olives of any kind where I am. Right now in season we have mangoes and mangolas, sappadillies and seagrapes are beginning to ripen.

Any recipes using mangos?

My recipe for Lemon curd. I triple this and bottle it in small jars. Sealed properly it keeps for quite a while. It's also great on a pavlova with toasted almonds on top and a bit of lemon zest.

2 large eggs
2 large egg yolks
150g caster sugar
100g unsalted butter, room temperature, cubed
juice and finely grated zest of 2 lemons

Place all ingredients into a medium sized heavy based saucepan, off the heat, and whisk together until combined. Place pan over medium heat and gently stir or whisk continuously, taking pan off and on the heat in regular intervals, until thickened, about 5-7 minutes. Once thickened, immediately place in clean, sterilised bottles.

Place lids on and make sure they seal (lid goes concave).

Hello Max! I am so sorry it took me so long to follow you back. I have been swamped with life!

I am a foodie too! So is my husband. We watch Chopped, Beat Bobby Flay, Iron Chef, Guy's Grocery Games, Diners, Drive Ins and Dives, I watch Cook's Country, Jacques Pepin etc. etc. etc.

We both love to cook but my husband is much more creative. He would be an amazing chef.

Our best meal was at Mama's Fish House on Maui on our honeymoon. It sounds like a roadside fish stand but it is actually one of the very top rated restaurants in the country...which we didn't know ahead of time. It was amazing. Google it!

Nice to meet you and thank you for your comments on my posts!

Most of my recipes are off the top of my head, but the one thing that seems to surprise a lot of people is that there are vegan options to just about everything out there.

Good evening to you Max, my name is Ken and I welcome you to WA and thank you for the follow. I'm following you back.
My wife Susan was a chef (had the training from Culinary school) and I was blessed with her skills. She was born and raised in Louisiana and a proud coonass. I built her a Cajun Website with her specific Cajun Recipes. Her Website was getting traffic very quickly. The Cajun's are a small group of people but very unique. This "food" niche is big and full of smaller specific niches all around it. I would suggest catering to something that is very specific that you can build a following very quickly.

I look forward to working with you and wish you much enjoyment and success in your new online career.

Hi Don!

Thank you for adding me to your network! My current website is actually about something completely different from food. I had the "bright" idea to work on a different niche for my first website and then use the knowledge I gain from my mistakes to set up my main website on food. Still not sure if that was the right way to look at things but I'm only 6 weeks in here so I'll see how it goes.

What do you suggest? Should I wait and work out the rest of the kinks in my first website before starting up my main food website?

Thanks!!

I would, but that's just me. I'm having enough trouble keeping up with one. Like you I want to learn the ropes before I start my next one. I still work full time so there are times when it's difficult to find time to work on my site, Lot's of other obligations for now.

I guess we really are in the same boat because I work fulltime as well, the dreaded 9am-5pm, at least for now. What I did set up though was my domain name for my future websites so that I don't have to worry about name availability for my .com whenever I do decide to start the next one.

My major issues have been so far: choosing a compatible theme, choosing which plug-ins, setting up social media for my site and populating them with content, and still spending time here at WA with posts etc.

I'm not going to stress about it though, I ask questions, make mistakes (and keep track of them) and hopefully my future websites will be smooth sailing! (as much as possible anyway.)

maxsmunchies.com (fun snacky appies and sport eats)
moncurconcur.com (french cuisine)
mandmstreatss.com (desserts and candies and doughnuts)

etc etc etc....

Think Brand & Category:

foodieonabudget.com

as your main website....

connect all the rest within....

kind of like a library....

your main website is a Section on Food in the Library...dicided into SubCategories like:

Lots of ideas!

Hi Max!

Just glad to have helped!

Believe me, it took all of 5 min I bet...I'm a "FREE-FLOW" type, "Big-Picture" type, creative person - and get this - I spent 30 years as a Family Physician in Canada!

My creative brain is finally getting to stretch and it feels so so good!

I am thinking of offering creative coaching for people at some point - I am getting close - it's just so darn fun it doesn't feel like work!

And in your case, with the budget and all, maybe promise me that when you make you first $1,000 - $2,000 per month you will start to splurge on some famous chefs and world-reknowned restaurants!

Barb

PS Not to name drop but I'm going to name drop - most favourite meal ever - hands down - Chef Morimoto in his Waikiki Restaurant, newly opened on my Husband's Bday - got photo ofall 3 of us and signed copy of his book!

PPS My husband does not let anyone touch his book! LOL

It is good that you are able to have fun and truly enjoy what you are doing, that is what this is all about. Choosing our passion and having fun with it!

And yes, maybe I can take my first substantial earnings and hire Chef Morimoto as my own personal checf for an evening!! I have not tried that restaurant but it is now on my list of places to try.

PS. I don't blame your husband, I would put that book in a safe with 24 hour security to protect it, lol

You're Welcome! Yes, the blog is a very valuable tool. Congratulations on registering your first domain name. That was a great choice because you always want to own your own domain name. It is not only good to own your own but it is great to have so that you can get indexed into google.

I am not sure if I understand correctly. Are you looking for other blogs that have "how to" tutorials.

or are you looking for articles to write on your blog "how to " like example "how to build a website for free?" how to get started with affiliate marketing?" "how to use jaxxy?"

Hi Kisha, I am writing a "how to" blog and wanted to know if you have any tips on how to gain the interest of my future readers. Or which theme on WA would work well with blogs. I am completely new to this and want to know what has helped you succeed.

Thank you!
Reply

Oh okay sorry, I just did not understand at first.

Yes, I can understand I was completely new as well. I just been here one month. One month today actually!

But what has helped me, I will tell you exactly what I have been doing and hopefully this helps.

I follow the training, I work on it everyday and I do not rush through the training. If I have to watch a video 2 or 3 times over. I do!
Every Friday we have webinars, if you have time sign up for it.

They may be way over your head when you watch them because a lot of the webinars are still over my head but, I still watch it and take the little information that I can comprehend and use the method that was taught in the webinar.

The webinars can be replayed so no worries if you can not watch them at the exact time they play.

Okay to captivate your audience, you just write the way you normally would talk. That is what I do. I just write the way I normally would talk.

And when I am writing I write as if I was talking to a friend. You'll keep the audience entertained by just being yourself. If you have an opinion about an "How to" that your doing then let the audience know.
Example: if I do not like a service I tell the audience why I do not like it and what I think could have been done better.

I also try and use Jaaxy which is a free tool to use since you are premium. Use that to find low QSR keywords, usually under 100 this will help your site get indexed.

example: how to train a pug puppy 112 20 26 Great 93

See this keyword came from jaaxy this would help you get indexed faster. because the QSR is low. It is 26, searches are 112 and the potential people traffic you will get is 20.

So, I stick with low QSR's.

I also did not try and perfect each and every post right away. I try to write a post every other day. So, I keep pushing out post as often as I can. Make sure you use nice images in the articles that go with the topic you are speaking about.

After I wrote 12 post then I came back and tweaked my site. Like made it look better, checked all my articles for any errors and made sure the article still made sense.

As far as themes. I am still not sure what themes are best. I changed themes three times. I loved twenty seventeen theme but, it had some coding error because my capital 'i's looked like L's and I never got indexed with that theme.

So then I renado theme and I liked that them too but never got indexed either so, I finally chose some theme called eggnews wala.. I got indexed so, the theme is tricky. Not all are equal, it all boils down to user experience. So, you'll have to try and see what makes your site flow when it comes to themes.

Inside of WA:
I also answer questions when people need help. This helps me learn faster. If I don't know the answer I go and find the answer and then answer them. That way I learn and someone else is learning at the same time.

I also ask as many questions as I possible can no matter how crazy it sounds. I still ask because someone is always wanting to know the same answer.

I use my WA blog for practice. Your WA blog can get ranked into Google so make sure you use it. IF some one was to click on your WA blog and sign up, you would get credit. You can write about anything. I usually just write about my journey of the day.

I also look at other blogs in my niche and study them. I see what they are doing and how they are doing it. Follow successful bloggers and the upcoming bloggers in your niche. And I just absorb all that information and put it in my own form.

Sorry the post was so long winded but, I tried to make sure you knew what I do. If you ever have any questions I am here and love to help when I can...

Thank you Maxiann for the follow and many blessings to you here at WA. If you need any help remember to post your question in the comments section or on live chat, and someone will be able to help you.

I created an informative training tutorial for all New Members that clearly explain the differences between the Certification Course and Affiliate Bootcamp.

I highly recommend that you do not start your WA training doing the Bootcamp. The Certification Course is the BEST option and I explain why in the following tutorial. If you have a few minutes free, give it a read and ask me any questions you may have within the comments section, and I will be happy to give you an answer.

Hi Carson,

Thank you for your offer. I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions you have on my niche idea:

I was thinking my niche can show people how they can be a "foodie" while on a budget. How they can enjoy find food or even a fine dining experience while saving money. It would include cookbook recommendations and freebies to draw persons in, exchanging recipes and of course recommending cooking tools.

Any comments? Also I plan to upgrade to premium soon. Any suggestions on website themes that would suit my niche idea?

Thanks in advance!

I hope things are going well. I know you are getting rolling within the training and there is ONE thing that always tends to confuse people and that is "what is my niche?".

I know, same thing happened to me when I started.

I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I am here if you ever want to run any niche "ideas" by me or you have any questions about finding your niche.

Get back to me when you get the chance! :)

Good day Kyle,

I was thinking my niche can show people how they can be a "foodie" while on a budget. Everyone loves food, they want the experience of exquisite cuisines but may not be able to afford to do so. What I want people to get from my blog is where they can go to have a fine dining experience, how to budget for it, create their own experiences right at home and the right tools to accomplish this. I LOVE food and take every moment to appreciate what I eat, no matter the how much or how little it may cost.

What do you think of the idea? Any advice, comments and critiques are more than welcome :)

Thank you for all of your help so far, I am truly enjoying my WA experience and have already recommended to my family.

Your niche ideas are definitely viable directions for your niche. You need to choose one when starting out, what are you most passionate about?

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)
