Good morning Mikey. It is sometimes the price we pay for not having all the knowledge we needed at the time to buy our domain name. Snooze and you loose, and we all know what that means. I have several domains that have yet to be made into a website. The worse that can happen, is a competitor won't get that domain name. For the price of a case of beer I have a reserved name for future applications.
If your present website is already rising up through the ranks in the SERPS then maybe changing the name isn't necessary. Or, you can start the new website with a better domain name and make it a sister-type site to your present site.
I know you are second guessing yourself on your selection but a third option is to buy the new name so no one else buys it. Who knows, you can maybe sell that name for a much higher price.
I hope this helps.
Ken

Many of us fall into that, thinking of a niche, then a domain name the reserving it just in case our competitions grabs it before we decide. Taking action quickly is a good thing but sometimes we stumble.

It's part of the learning process for successful action takers. As Jude says below, it's not a disaster, it's just one of many factors. You can still achieve desired results through your content.

Unless you can afford to write off the $12-15 you spent on three domain if you found a higher ranking one. That's a business decision and risk choice you need to make.

Keep going. The content of your site is more important for ranking than the domain name. ~Jude

I am sure this is not the first time you have thought about trying to make money online. Before you made your first steps on WA, what stopped you from progressing before?

Some of the online business ventures they would get you to sign up then you would be left with a websight that would be useless unless you spent several hundreds of dollars to get it up and running. Some of them would offer help but you would even have to pay for that. What I like about here is you can get all the help and training anytime some one needs it.

Nothing, but I was working for other people, not myself.

What has stopped you from achieving online success before?

So far I am reaching the end of my first month. I have been following the lessons accordingly and have my site up and running.

I am currently on Course 1, lesson

The advice below is very good. I don't really need to add much other than to say that the whole process takes time and work. Hopefully, as you work toward getting your site ranked on google, you can get some satisfaction out of creating something of your own.

There are a couple of things that may be going on which make you seem to be working hard but not getting any benefits, like traffic.
First of all, Google does not give new websites a lot of 'showtime' because there is no proof that this new website is here for the long haul. Google is looking for sites that fulfill UX (good user experience) and new sites are just too new for Google to know anything about.
Another key element is the niche your site is in, the Keyword your site is vying for, the competition you are competing against, and of course, the number of post that your site has published.

The real goal of any site owner is to write compelling, good content that people want to know about. Spend 25% of your time adding more content, researching what keywords to use on your posts (keywords that get lots of searches but little competition - the low hanging fruit), and the other 75% of your time marketing your website on Forums, Social Media, and maybe some
PPC advertising.

The key of it all is to be consistent in adding content. Set a goal to have "x" number of posts published by such and such date. There have been people throughout time that quit and gave up just before they would have had a major breakout. Don't let that be you.

Good question. I hope I helped answered your question.

Mikey,

If you are only on course 1, lesson 6, you still have a lot more help and guidance that you have not tapped into just yet. If I had any suggestions at this point, it would be to follow the courses to the best of your ability and carry out all the steps requested in these courses.
In these courses are some of the best instructions around. Not only do they offer step by step processes, but also video tutorials to help you along the way. I wish you the best in your future here.

-Kenny

I figured that was the case. I am on the point on the affiliate boot camp where I add a lot of the quality content. This is what I am currently working on.

Mikey,

I can guarantee if you stick with the training and participate as asked, you will be more than fine in the future. Best of luck to you.

-Kenny

You're doing great as a starter member. It takes 4-6 months to see success, even as a Premium member, and it's infinitely more difficult as a Starter member.

I am based in Canada, I will be building an information site about custom PC builds. I see a lot of .com domains already taken but .ca still available. Do you think I should ke

Dot com is international and can be found from anywhere in the world. Dot ca will only be found by people who are in Canada. If you have a strictly local market then use the dot ca. If you want an international audience find a dot com.

You need to look at some demographics on google trends. Google trends is an awesome tool you can use to further research your keywords.

Type in custom pc build reviews into Google trends but base the search data, not in the whole United States, but rather inside Canada and your surrounding areas

I think the best advice is always .com, if you can get it. Best of luck.

Which to choose: .com or .ca?

Just got my domain and updated the main page of my site:

http://startanextraincomesource.com

Still have a few pages to get to but hoping this is a start.

If you are following your lessons Kyle will help you with this when your site is ready for the world to see. Best advice I can give you is to take it step by step and do it correctly. Remember the saying "If you build it they will come"

Mike I would start with Social media. But your primary concern at the beginning should be on creating quality content
